  • super love it.... usher is so talented at all..

  • Glee's philosophy: Rape every song known to man until ears bleed. Usher's philosophy: Why ruin a classic? Bravo to you Usher sir :D

  • HE DON't Know how to dance tap love GENE KELLY

  • I loved this. Usher is a very talented man. I wasn't a fan until watching this on TV.

  • If you can't do it don't talk shyt. Lmao.

  • Well, he's got nerve to do this...a risky move to immitate Kelly, but yet, amazing and respectful tribute.

  • @gabriellisssima He was asked to do it.

  • I now have a lot of respect for usher.........

  • i love that hes paying tribute to one of the greatest... and i also really loved how he didnt trey to make it his own, he kept it perfect the was it is<3.

  • How has this not been said? Cop at the end: RACIST lol

  • @bwrulz1284 Its not Racist at all... the cop was also present when Gene Kelly originally performed it!!!!! (it's a tribute)!

  • @bwrulz1284 ummmm have you ever seen singin in the rain?? theres a cop at the end of that one too.

  • Holy shit... this is amazing...

  • good one usher its important to see that you respect how beautiful this song is perfect remake.

  • This was just wonderful. The one thing I think Usher did, aside from getting the choreography down, was that he captured the same joy in Gene Kelly's performance. There's a certain warmth and glow Gene Kelly has, and it always brings a smile to face whenever I see this scene or here the song. Usher's performance evoked the same reaction.

  • Tribute to Gene Kelly! I don't like usher but this is like an honor to Kelly, full respect! :)

  • Gene Kelly will always be the best but usher did a fantastic job

  • Go Usher.!

  • when i first saw this ....omg usher is just awesome <333

  • Well done : )

  • This makes me so happy, it just...does in general (:

  • My respect for Usher just went zooming up xD

  • @missbella241 Same with me. I still curse him for Justin Beaver.

  • TON of props to Usher :)

  • COOL

  • For all my bad opinions of usher, THIS may prove to be the point where he ACTUALLY becomes an artist, rather than a gansta wit mony.

  • hey, hey, hey! Haters, quit talking! You ALL know that you couldn't do any better. Give the guy a break! You can't be mad at him because he is SUCCESSFUL in what he does, now can you? So shut up for once, listen, and be inspired. Maybe you'll learn how to enjoy things.

  • usher lacks something called charisma

  • disgusting

  • yeah, he had the flu

  • Ilovehim

  • the ending need to be bigger. musical wise

  • Definitely not as good as gene kelly, but he did an amazing job though trying to copy it, i like the way he sang it, he was trying to honor gene kelly and make it his own at the same time and gene kelly defiitely would have been proud of that

  • Usher, you're pretty good

As good as Gene Kelly- you are not.

  • Awesome. Same sound.

  • Love it!! I'm so happy that he did this and that he aknowledged how difficult it was back then. Triple threats! Do we have ANY of those now? Pffft.

  • Damn, I think he did perfect justice to the original! Props to both these guys!

  • Gene kelly actually took a 2 days to shoot this scene although the fever part is right. 103!

  • he forgot to give his umbrella away! lol

  • Like we all haven't done that before 4:23

  • cool tribute but he looks stiff as a board compared to mister kelly

  • Usher's singing could have been a bit better, he drug it out to much with 'oh's' IMO...Other than that, pretty good! :D

  • @babyfacedstar the reason he drug out his notes is because he is Usher thats the way he sings it wouldnt make sense for him to try and sing the song like gene kelly that wouldnt make him the great performer that he is... jus sayin

  • What an amazing voice. It's nice to hear him out of his usual genre. :)

  • This was such a great tribute~ props to Usher. =]

  • For all those saying that it's not like Gene Kelly, Usher is not trying to be Gene Kelly, it's only a tribute.

  • he doesn't rock like Gene kelly did :(

  • @KatyLuchers well of course not he's 1 of a kind

  • he's done a fine job! But I extremely love mr. Gene Kelly's one much more!

  • execlent!!!!! Ushers amazing!

  • Usher Usher Usher... Dude, what a great tribute and "SPOT ON" to the original version by Gene Kelly (which i've seen numerous times)!! Great Job!! It's soo refreshing to see someone committed to their craft! I wanna sing in the rain now, but this Texas Heat wont allow it!! =)

  • Usher always comes across as a nice guy, not my kind of artist, but each to their own. This is good to see, an artist who cares about his industry enough to pay tribute to the greats.

Who hasn't felt the urge to do this at some point anyway, I did, I recommend it if your in a cheery enough mood.

  • @scaryninja1693 I can say I have done it and, in my opinion, it's freaking awesome. Especially with an umbrella in public! That adds to the fun. :D

  • You can tell Usher has respect ffor Gene Kelly.

  • it was good, not disappointed

  • Usher has what you call mega talent. Not the original, but he wasnt intending it to be. It was good.

  • nothing beats the original but usher....wow tons of respect dude

  • Usher just earned a shitload of respect points.

  • 2:33 ... UR in the glas =) exelent tribute , to all of u ! it is a tribute , not a challenge , nobody of all haters here cant dance and sing like this PERIOD

  • they way he has done a tribute to give respect to the legend gene kelly himself :) like this if you agree :)

  • not bad Usher...

  • only usher could've pulled off this remake

  • I obviously like way way much better the original one. But I think it's great that Usher did this cover.

I love singing in the rain <3

  • Very nicely done sir... very nicely done!

  • This gave me a whole new appreciation to Usher.

  • very good.

  • Still no Gene Kelly but lovely regardless :)

  • It's nice to see newer stars that appreciate the stuff that I grew up. Usher did an amazing job, I liked it.

  • This is really cool.Way to go Usher.

  • This is a truly valid tribute to a great man, Gene Kelly! Many in this new generation still appreciate fine musical/theatrical art!

  • back in the day ppl actually had to have talent vrs today's world where it's 90% unreal and uncool11

  • @MrWoramaik04 i agree i mnea alot of singers have the same kind of voice

  • everything has to be racal bullshit!!!!!!!

  • Even Usher's version is better than that stupid Glee version.

  • A fitting tribute to the genius that was Gene Kelly! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! :)

  • Gene Kelly did that in one Take while he had a FEVER !

  • @rskwonderv2 No, it was a span over 2-3 days. Not 1 take. That's a common myth

  • I dont think Usher was trying to show off he could be as good as Gene Kelly. Hes paying a huge tribute to Gene Kelly because of how good he is and such an icon, thats all

  • Genial tributo de Usher a Gene Kelly

  • I think my mind just got blown.

  • I don't like usher at all... neither his music or style.

But after see this I change my mind.

I still dislike his music and style, but I start to respect Usher...

  • @Torgueuere I was not aware that Usher was such a well-rounded dancer. Just yesterday, I attended a recital sponsored by an African-American owned dance studio, and was amazed to see that young people who were doing hip-hop dance were also doing ballet, tap, and modern dance. It's good to know that today's teens are still interested in different forms of dance. Not just because their parents paid for it, but they seemed to really enjoy developing their craft. Quite refreshing!

  • He sounds terrible and nobody can beat Gene Kelly's dancing

  • great... Usher had proved how great was Gene Kelly...

Because of it you do a tribute... no remakes...

  • LOVE IT! Usher has such class!

  • This is the R n B version.... hahaha

Still love Gene Kelly's though, good on ya Usher :)

  • It's great to see he has such an appreciation of such a classic number. But while he probably has him beat vocally, Usher isn't half the dancer Gene Kelly was. Great tribute though!

  • this was good, but I still prefer Gene Kelly

  • 41 peoples fall when try to dance in the rain.

  • I Love this SONG

  • usher did awesum wit his tribute < note i said tribute not remake. hes not tryna reamke a klassic or wateva. da fact dat he respects des klassics says dat not evrione is as dey seem

  • Can I get this music- I love it.

  • Usher did a great job

  • @surferbra23

    it was a tribute...if u must know

  • maybe he should use remix background music.....?

  • 38 people don't like the rain.

  • Usher carries off this song and dance just beautifuly! The fact that he appreciates the classics, make him a truely all around entertainer. Bravo Usher!

  • Usher carries this dacnc and sone just beautifuly! The fact that he appreciates the classics, make him a truely all around entertainer. Bravo Usher!

  • geez... a hard preformance, but gene kelly would have smiled

  • this cop: oh a black guy singing and dancing in the rain im sure thats fine...

real life cop:a black guy singng in the rain get him!?!?!?!!!!

  • @nautypup20

A real life cop would probably be thinking...

    "damn crackhead!!!!"

  • @nautypup20 no...your ignornance leads you to believe this because your the one with the racist mentality...wake up every cop is not racist though i know you want them to be!

    just saying

  • @nautypup20 UGH and i HATE how true it is! but this is definitely on my list of plans for what to do on a rainy day :D

  • @tigerheart21 Me to! :D

  • What makes Kelly's original even more amazing is the condition he filmed it in. During the whole 2-3 days it was filmed in he had a fever of 103 degrees.

  • I didn t know he could dance the tip tap!!! great ..

Don t compare just appreciate it.

  • @azanna99 yeah, usher was on brodway too!

  • Now that is a man, who appreciates the classics

  • hes gona get arested for being drunk i mean really it's alegl to splash in the puttles and tap dace IN THE RAIN

  • at 2:o4 it looks like hes drunk

  • 1:31 Oh snap, it's the po' po'!

Epic tribute. I actually like this better than the original.

  • This is a stunningly lovely tribute. A little slow, yeah, but it comes off more as a love song-nod to the original. Though I gotta say that Usher carries off a bit more of the Kelly-esque ease and flair with tap on stage after the video, hehe.

And I love that the cop in this looms more like an annoyed Batman than an admonishing parent.

    A+ Usher, seriously.

  • @johnnyisawesome

Who do you think wrote this?

  • Respect to Usher for doing this. You won't see lil wayne doing something like this

  • THAT WAS AMAZING!!! I love that Usher performed Gene Kelly's choreography step by step but also used his own style of singing wow how wonderful.

Big surprise I'm black & I think Gene Kelly is the most talented entertainer to have ever lived not Michael Jackson but he's definitely #2.

  • I am a huge Gene Kelly fan, and Singing in the Rain is my favourite movie, and I think Usher ROCKED. He was awesome! And what a total complement to Gene Kelly! Thanks for posting.

  • magnific!

  • my favorite movie; i appreciate the love Usher.

  • This is so cute. Gene Kelly's is better but Usher did a great job.

  • Gene Kelly was a better dancer, but Usher is still cool

  • i love the bit when he starting to go mad with the water lol

  • Awesome. This is my first time seeing this!! He did a great job and it looks like he had so much fun doing it! Much props to new school and classical making the legends live on!! Great job Usher!

  • That was amazing. I'd like to see more tap dancing and singing

  • Much respect to Mr.Usher Raymond I remeber when I was a kid watching "Gene Kelly- Singing in the rain" on TNT back in the day hell I use to sing with him I thought he was cool I tried to mimic him myself SMH lol. "The Great Gene Kelly" how bout that...way to pay respect to a great performer..As for anyone else that's hating go rape yourself...

  • wonderful tribute,,,, so pleased that Usher did this.

  • I loved the original "Singing in the Rain" and though Usher didn't do this quite as well as Gene Kelly, he did a fantastic rendition of this scene and added his own lovable charm and flair. Really, imitation is the truest form of flattery. This song always makes me happy and just watching this video, I don't know if I could wipe this smile off my face. =D

  • wow amazing! What a talented man! Gene Kelly one of my favorite performers. And singing in the rain one of my favorite movies. No other performer could have paid a better tribute to Gene Kelly than Usher!

  • 38 people have probably never seen the movie

  • usher is a great songwriter...Fact....this proves it...who else would even think of the concept of singing in inclement weather????

  • @baguhmeister You better be trolling.

  • @baguhmeister I REALLY HOPE YOU'RE JOKING

  • His music isn't my style, but I really like this- he showed respect to Gene Kelly.

  • NEGGA RUN ITS THE POLEESE! XD

  • Hey there!! Loved your videos. When's your next one coming?

  • Why does he choose to make such crap music?

  • @doodovf go fuck yourself this is a good song

  • @maxluv666 I know this isn't Usher's song though, lol. I mean he has this much ability why doesn't he use his talent to make quality music like this, instead of the trashy pop/r&b/rap songs that he makes.

  • @maxluv666 i don't think "doodovf" was talking about singing in the rain...he was talking about usher's own music.

  • @lawtzelap oh ok sry dude lol i thought he was talking bout my man gene kelly

  • Now I can die happy.

  • i am glad that usher did that!!he and gene kelly both are amazing singers!!!

  • I love this song and his voice is amazing <3

  • Even when he's just talking in his normal voice, he sounds lovely. ♥

  • C: i think this is reallycute i like smiled te whole time i watched it

  • @talkindurinthemovie me too :)

  • Such an amazing cover!!!! It's so hard to sing this song and Usher nailed it!!!!!!

  • people acc dont realise how talented usher is man

  • OMG!!! He is amazing!!! usher is my favorite at the present ! That`s for sure!

  • If this were real life the cop would have shot him (kidding!) But great rendition, he captured all the moves and the essence.

  • Usher paid homage to G. Kelly well IMO. Nothing tops the original, but he hit all the key points and put a nice modern spin on it for the young people who (and this thought to me is pure cinematic sacriledge) only have a vague idea of who Gene Kelly was, if that. This brings it to a new generation and allows them to see it through someone they know first, peaking their interest, and hopefully, broadening their horizons. Usher: Bravo.

  • @JtGorospilicious The film is depicted in the 30s, when the age of sound in films appeared, but it was made in the 50s, so DunkleWurzlen isn't wrong about that, since the cop would be a 30s cop.

  • Usher kicked ass, btw

  • To all the douche bag Beiber haters: GET OFF BEIBERS NUTS!!! Yeah, you're tryin to bite 'em off, but on his nuts is still on his nuts. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Quit givin' him publicity.

  • what a glorioua feeling watchin' usher singin' in the rain... I LOVE THIS MOVIE...

  • Usher is making money off of Justin Bieber. Just like Dr Dre made money off Eminem. Like Oprah making money off of Dr Phil, Rachel Ray and Dr Koz. These examples are nothing compared to the gazlilions of billions whites have made and continue to make off Black folks. God bless you Usher, Dre, and Oprah.

  • @jesushateswood WOW! What a great point you made... until you had to make it about race... when will bigots like you stop using race as a crutch... the only person more racist than a white person who "uses" black people to make money are the weak minded pieces of trash like yourself who always have to use your race as a crutch!

  • wat he come out there and start crumbing lol haha

  • In 30ies that cop would probably say: "What monkey shit are you doing you black faggot ??"

  • Usher do also" singin in the rain" :D

  • Usher can SING and DANCE... numero uno.

  • I love Gene Kelly's more, but DAMN this is good! I was just thinking how amazing it would be if a man danced and sung in the rain in these days, and here it is! It's put a great modern spin on it.
