  • want to be a scholar until u graduate ??? JOin aim global and get

scholarship for free to our affiliated schools nationwide , message me on my mobile 09324932147.

  • lets forget the Mexico theory of colonization, MEXICO WASN'T EVEN AN ESTABLISHED COUNTRY YET WHEN MAGELLAN colonized the Phil., they were indian tribes called AZTECS & INCAS that migrated throughout what we now call Latin America, only Spanish speaking people influenced the language & culture from that time until they were defeated by the British, then given back to the Spanish, then Americans, Japanese, then back to the Americans who granted them independence in 1946.. sorry no Mexico influence

  • great watch ,im heading to cebu in august, and this isa great insight of the place 5 stars!!

  • is the first part in colon?

  • Mexico went and conquered the Philippines? I don't remember reading that in my Filipino history book.

  • @parawhorecr

Just read my response to "cisneros". There is no historical and geographical proof to substantiate those opinions. Especially from not Filipino individuals, just because our dialects and some signage’s bears resemblance to Spanish then we are influence with Mexico? When I count money here by “Uno, Dos, Tres, Kuwatro, Singko, Sais” Hispanics told me that I speak Spanish. When I write and showed them these words they realized it is not. It’s sound Spanish syempre!

  • @BisoyChef55 There were no Mexico at that times, they were called New Spain--run by Spanish that was born in New Spain now we called Mexico after they gain there Independence from Spain. The Philippines was ran by Spanish from New Spain now called Mexico. After New Spain gained there Independence from Spain , Spain took over . So you can say for most of the year Mexicans runs the Philippines and thus explained why Mexico and Philippines share similar traditions .

  • in terms of economy, cleanliness, safety and protection and of course, tourist spots :D

in terms of protection and cleanliness you cannot include cities in metro manila since most of those cities have high crime rate and pollution. tapos la rin masyaddong tourist spots sa metro manila kadalasan sa visayas/mindanao ka makakakita ng tourist spots

so ito para sakin ang top 5 cities in terms of tourism

    1.cebu

    2.baguio

    3.davao

    4.makati

    5.qeuzon city

  • Interesting video, I'm going to have to talk my husband into taking my son and I to visit Cebu when we move home in Oct. Thank you for sharing your video.

  • your a good camera man but the video is a bit dull.

    anyways good job

  • I really love my home philippines.. even its kind of dirty place but the beaches are one of my favorite places... the food and beer on the night.. balot, (hmmm yummy), tanduay etc etc.. hahay... how i wish im in philippines...

  • @aparach Balut and Tanduay? Drink the bottle of rhum first. :-D

  • I miss Cebu,, Im from Mexico but went to several times from work,, Filipinos are a great and friendly people,,, I hope one day I can get back to Cebu,, and yes Cebu has some spanish influence and a bit of Mexican influence since the firts Spanish sailors that arrived there were from Spain, Portugal and Mexico,, in Cebuano are many Spanish words that are only speak in Mexico and not even on Spain,,,,but thats the past the present is now and Cebu is Cebu ! the Charmin City of Asia Pacific

  • @cisnerjo

    Part I

Correction! Philippines are under the colony by Spaniards for 300 years. Mexicans are never heard until the present times. Portuguese yes, since the leader of the colonizer is one that was killed by King Lapu-lapu in Mactan, Island. His crewmembers are mostly Spaniards. Some are mixed with other European nationals. Ferdinand Magellan does not have the luxury to recruit Mexicans who are in the other part of the world.

  • @cisnero

    Part II

It is the Spanish ruler King Philip II who gives him his fleet or flotilla. So, the claim about Mexicans is too far fetched. Of course, if it is an American who took this video it is understandable. Since here in U.S. all Hispanics are branded as “Mexicans” as a general term. There are Central Americans and South Americans or Hispanics out here. But it is common for the Northern Americans to call them Mexicans. It is not a big deal out here.

  • i miss my home land Cebu the queen city of the south.

  • ok guys. i dont know what is the topic all about.

i just want to say the the Philippines was 300 years a Spanish colony. Our old buildings show the Spanish influence and the biggest part of our ancient culture, and of course some of the words in our dialect and our language are Spanish. Yes, it was Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese sailor under the Spanish throne discovered the Philippines in 1521. thanks a lot for posting this video.5*

  • Plz, there is Spanish style architecture in Cebu. But not Mexican. The older sections of town churches etc were influenced in Spanish architecture. Not so much today, or less so past the WW2 era. The people and there sir names are very much so influenced by the Spanish even more so in their religion. Magellan (a Spaniard) brought and forced his changes on the area as most conquers did of his time. Today, not a lot is left but you can still find treasures of that time still remaining.

  • mv8167, my friend, excuse me, but Fernando de Magallanes was a Portuguese navigator to the service of Felipe II king (king of Spain). His name in Portuguese was: Fernão de Magalhães.

  • @mv8167 umb whatts the chances of me having spanish blood? -_-

  • @mv8167 magellan is a portuges he just serve the king of spain because portugal dont care about his mane obra or talento soo he go to spain and requested the king for help

  • And there is no strong spanish spanish infuence and the city is not similar to that of spanish cities they have Asian buildings there and there language called tagolog you guys don't even know what you are talking about.

  • well there is a great deal of spanish influence...tagalog does not originate from spanish language but cebuano language does...cebu was supposed to be the capital of philippines...so mostly cebuano language was influenced by spanish language

  • No it doesn't have as much hispanic inluence are you dumb? theres barely any there just cause those moronic spanish stayed their doesn't mean they rurned it into one of the countries from the west which is now Mexico.

  • Really Cebu City is beautiful, has much of Hispanic influence, and is very similar to other cities in Latin America, as Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, Taxco in Mexico and Antigua in Guatemala, But especially is Philippine.

  • Agreed. There is a very strong Spanish influence here. That I cannot dispute. But, I have been learning Cebuano since I arrived here, going on eight years ago. While I find, as I stated previously, a strong Spanish influence in the language, you would not be able to carry on a conversation with (Cebuano speaking) Filipinos, even being fluent in Spanish.

  • The first city founded by the Spanish in

Philippines, of strong Latin flavor, with a rich Hispanic patrimony and where today many people speak Spanish.

  • You are mistaken. While Spanish does have an influence on some of the words, and especially regarding money and time, very little of the Spanish Language is spoken in Cebu, or anywhere else in the Philippines for that matter.

However, in Zamboanga, located in Mindanao, they speak Chavacano, sometimes referred to as "broken Spanish".

  • My friend, you have reason, nevertheless, most of the Filipinos that I find in the Internet and who speak Spanish, are of the Cebu City, and after seeing this video, I think that is evident the strong influence of the Hispanic culture in this city. Regards of Costa Rica in Latin America.

  • most of the cebuano words comes from spanish..omg

  • My dad fought here in WW2. It's hard to believe that a war could be fought in such a beautiful paradise such as this.

  • who cares, it has the best women as does all of Visayas on average per capita in the world

  • Cebu women are scammers and hookers, and in general out to get money out of you.

  • every place has those types of people idiot, you are just a bitter old man, I never experienced any of that in dealing with them, and my wife who I married over there in October never once asked for money in 6 months of talking prior. She is here now on spousal visa in Canada - and we have been back there twice already. You must have Cebu confused with Africa.

  • haha you "pwnd" that dumbass lol I hate how modern society here in the west has made most think that girls over there only want money. True, some do. But MOST do over here lol

  • @invadr1 i have been married to a filipina since 1987...not from cebu..so do not tell me about the phils

  • was that really necessary?

do you really have to bash other people and their culture?

seriously... look at yourself first before you judge others...

  • and anyone who spent his stupid lame comment on this site is a big LOOOOOSSSEERRRR,, im so sorry WELLBRAN you got dumped, you must be very fat old and broke,,or just plain ignorant jealous moron, you should just hang yourself now asshole

  • And since Nov 2008 you have made ZERO videos here, and have....3 friends! lol Cebu is a dump!

  • again as i said bitter and a loser,grown ass man,cry baby,wahwahwah,get a life,,WELLBRAN,

  • Your command of descriptives is truley amazing or is that repetitive.

  • im a bisaya!!!!

    fuck tagalog!!!!!

  • The street HOOKERS are best found in downtown Cebu. Don't pay too much for them. One night should be no more than about $14 at the most and that means for 24 hours, not 4 hours or 8 hours, as many of them will tell you. We are a third world country here and we are slaves to the rest of the world but we are greteful for the money you bring us.

  • Your one fucked up broad

  • Great Cebu!!!!!

Please look my BOMTARAT dance italian version:))

    Thank You!

    Ciao!

  • ahh insurgents are predominently located down south in mindanao where a large number of the population in muslim but the radicals are nearly wiped out and cebu is so secure dont worry about getting attacked there ha trust me its hell of a lot safer in cebu than in some american citys

  • What about the Muslims insurgents last year?

Heard someone was kidnapped and had his head cut off. Has it died down yet?? I heard they

declared a two year cease fire.

  • Fortunately Cebu has been free from any sort of terrorist acts for as long as I can remember, the record's a clean slate! We do not associate ourselves in any way to the muslim southerners let alone the fact that they even want to form their own country!

  • cool vid

  • Definitely Australian. I'm Australian, from a church in QLD that has a large group of missionaries in Cebu. I loved it there, but I felt very sad for a lot of the people there. The slums are huge.

  • For those of you who are not aware of it, Most of those slum-bers are refugees from other areas of the Philippines. There was a big population of Mindanao moslems who settled in Cebu when there was a breakout of atrocities in the late 60s early 70s in Southern Philippines. Cebu also took refugees from India (escaping from religious persecution) around that time. Some of them did okay in Cebu, but most didn't.

  • I stopped in the Mecedes Hotel a good place in 1986,I'd love to go back there. and stop in the same hotel, maybe next year.Kev UK

  • I stayed at Mercedes in 1992 it was a dump and still is, if yu want a good hotel in Cebu? there isn't any from someone who has been thru there since 1988

  • must be when you come here no Shangrila or Hilton or Waterfront hotel yet lol

  • @WELLBRAN : Mercedes Hotel? Seriously? Well, I was from Cebu and I swear I didn't even include that htoel in my list to stay when I am having a vacation in Cebu. Why would you stay there? Financial reasons?lol.. For that cheap of a price, you were expecting a 5-star service. Now, next time if you want to go on other places as a tourist be sure you can spend ok? Or better yet, just stay home.

  • @MegaSigbin there are expensive hotels yes but they all fall short of what you pay...all phils hotels are like that not just cebu...its something they cannot get right and they are making the mistakes in hospitality now as they did 25yrs ago when i first went there...okay i am not just saying it .....its true..thats why the phils is not really a tourist centre as it should be. its still off the beaten track

  • Thanks for the video. That's it, I am going back again for another go !!

  • I luv and miss Cebu! God Bless to all of us, Cebuanos!:-)
