Saw them in Philly in 1968 - great shows, great band - $3 a show, two sets, two nights at the original Electric Factory. Janis should never have left. Still have them on vinyl, along with CDs. Loved the music then and it still sounds great today. He is missed by all who loved the band - Kharmu Darla - 9-10-11

His nail polish looks ridiculous. I don't know how or why anyone would refer to this clown as "Saint" anyone. He was hardly saintly and as far as his guitar "playing" went, he really was a heavy handed talentless poseur and a loser in life.
@lorraineagee dont you ever talk about my great uncle like that! he was great and very talented and you no it, he also touagh me how to say bastard! so you bastard , you r ridiculous for even thinking those things about him!
im gonna miss his guitar playing for sure,im 34, first heard him on cheap thrills and monterey festival film,he was a one of., the end of an era for sure, GONNA MISS YOU JAMES!!
This is great...BBHC never sounded the same without him. Not even close. The first time I heard him in '67 I knew exactly where he was coming from.....Decades later he sent me a letter that said," I don't do this for money, Brother, I do it for Love." What more is there to say?
He'll always be alive in my own sound and I'm glad he and other's like him were there to show me that things really could be different if you wanted them to be..
Yea great footage. It is part of a documentary DVD about the band with interviews from all the members. Something that has never really been done before about them. These interviews go way deeper into the bands life than most. Watch for it soon. Gonna be great.
James Gurley, the innovative guitarist who helped shape psychedelic rock's multilayered, sometimes thundering sounds as a member of Big Brother and the Holding Company, the band that propelled Janis Joplin to fame, has died of a heart attack. He was 69.
james is my uncle!
