  • Thought about that however, by their own words:

    1) "....everything is on a tight schedule...." and no mention of checking the heifers, cows, or bulls on this "very tight schedule."

    2) Reference to 'feeding the pens" is FEEDLOT language vs. "haying the cows" which is RANCH.

    3) "...when it's cold, the CALVES eat a whole lot more...." Again....no mention of the cows

    4) Unloading of calves is shown in the video. Most likely from the sale barn.

    Life on the FEEDLOT. Period.

  • Have you ever thought that maybe they are feeding out their own cattle and this is just the feeding side of THE RANCH!!!

  • This video should be called "Life on the FEEDLOT in Western Nebraska." I didn't see anything 'ranch' related except for the weather and presence of cows. Oh, wait...those aren't cows, they are feeder steers and heifers. A ranch is defined by the raising of animals and practice of animal husbandry. A feedlot is NOT a ranch. Even the USDA makes a distinction between the two. How about a windbreak on that feedlot? Pays for itself in 2 years.

  • it must be very hard to feed so many animals in winter!
