My sympathy goes out to all of the families. I recently separated from the Coast Guard and there is nothing like saving another life. I was on the Coast Guard Cutter Active out of Port Angeles, Washing and we conducted search and resuce missions constantly in high seas. Semper Paratus baby!
re/seattle times story on drunk c/e. while it is not against federal regs to drink onboard ,it is against rules to drink before or durring watch.after working over twenty ships as engineering oficer ,i cant think any reason for ship to continue to run in reverse while crew tries to enter liferafts, drunkeness would explain.
I worked at Fishing company of Alaska for many of years. I am now a captain. FCA had a no drinking policy. This engineer was not on watch at the time of the incident. Nor was he drunk. That accusation was made by a seaman named Morales who spoke with a lawyer and wants a payoff for neglegence. The vessel was punctured by ice. The chief died at work supporting his family. At least give him the decency of resting in peace.
My son is a HH-65 Dolphin Pilot (the "red" one used for Search & Rescue). He's been there and done that on the Munroe. My hats off to him and all the others in the Guard who put their lives on the line to save others. My sincerest sympathy to those families that loose their loved ones fishing the deadliest waters in the world .. Alaska.
Hi my name is Tc Eddards. I served aboard the Ranger Back in the 90's.. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and the rest of your family.. My heart is saddened by this news..Your grandfather was a good man.. Always on his Game. I remember the compitition to always win the qouta..And we did for long time..I soon went to the ranger afterwards..I served on the spirit too.God bless Captian Tood..And god bless Captain Eric.Always remembered not forgotten. Tc
thank you so much..you're exactly right, he was a great man and he will always be remembered by everyone who knew him as Captain Pete..everything done to perfection! C Jacobsen
I knew your grandfather very well. He was a great man. Captain Pete was one of the best men I had met in my 12 years of going to sea. I worked with him on the Alaska Pioneer.Everybody always liked and respected him. He was a darned good man and captain. sorry for your loss.
I'm confused by bigguy555123's comment - "good job coast guard only 2 rescued." My brother was one of the survivors and I spoke with him last night. He said it's a miracle that so many were saved (42). We will be forever grateful to the coast guard for their heroism.
What do you mean good job coastguard only 2 rescued (above comment)? My brother is one of the survivors and I talked to him last night. He said that it's an absolute miracle that so many were saved (42) and the rescue efforts were an amazing success. We will be forever grateful to the coast guard for their heroism.
