  • What exactly is supposed to be going on in this video with all the water? I always liked the song from when I first heard it back in the nineties, though it was very different from way this band sounded in the past.

  • Im an old Genesis lover and I love this. I love them both. I dont see why you cant love both. Just like women.. lol.. right?

  • Mike and the Mechanics??? LOL

  • at that time.. the old Genesis lover hate this, but I don't care I love this Genesis

  • Easily one of Genesis' most expensive vids.......................looks like it cost a cajillion to make!

Where were CAS fans during 2010?!

  • YEAH NICE ;-)

  • Nice! I've been looking for this! Great video and awesome song.

  • Genesis shouls have continued with Ray. He was a fine addition to the band.

  • excellant song

  • cool

  • i have the genesis video hits on dvd and never realized this song was on it until last night. now it's one of my favs! they are still pretty good without phil :)

  • Great song and a the great album. Luckily, without Phil Collins :)

  • Where is Phil Collins????? Genesis isn't Genesis without him!!!!!

  • Some said the same without Peter Gabriel on the 70's :-)

  • very good song

  • The song has plaintive melody.but ,beautifully

  • good song.

  • Ho realizzato con questa canzone il mio video..ho cercato di creare l atmosfera del congo..la trama pero' e' un po' diversa da questa..lo trovate sulla mia pagina..ciaoooo

  • lol it's a country. haha i wish i had a map. lol gary. canjellosi.

  • Me agradaria volver a ver a Ray Wilson como vocalista ya que a mi parecer dio nuevos aires a "Genesis" me encanta el disco"Calling all station"

  • What's the Congo?

  • It's a country in africa

  • Oh, thanks. lol

  • And a River, that cross twice the eqator :)

  • Nice.

  • The Democratic Republic of Congo, or Congo-Brazzaville?

  • THIS is what the single sounds like? When did Mike find the volume control on his amp for the rhythm guitar parts???? And the album should have been a lot bigger than it ultimately was.

  • This is actually a pretty good song. Wilson can't be compared to Gabreil or Collins because both are international stars now because of Genesis.

  • I'm still not sure what era of genesis is better the gabriel era, collins era, wilson era, or the reunion

  • All the eras were good!

  • this is bitchin good

  • i prefer the early prog rock genesis myself, but i find all the genesis eras great and altho 70's genesis is my fave, i still enjoy this. However, its a long way from genesis's roots with the legend peter gabriel and as soon as phil left, there was no chance of a smash album for tony and mike. I admire tony and mike for carrying the band on actually, it shows they have passion and commitment in their band.

  • that no gennesis yhe band is power ;) respekt . . )

  • It's not bad.

  • this is not genesis, to say otherwise is dragging the name Genesis through the mud.

Aside from that fact its not bad, but they should have renamed the band at that point. This is not nor ever will be close to Genesis.

Like i said though, its good if rename it but if you see the title genesis, your in for a shocker cause it sounds nothing like what it should

  • Yeah they shoulda renamed as soon as phil collins left and ray wilson joined

  • yeah, at least both the first two singers sounded a little similar.

  • If the rest of the songs on the album are as good as this, it's worth buying. Is that the case?

  • Unfortunately not.

  • No, most of the songs on it are wank.

  • Except for this one (Congo)

  • yes

  • Free to leave ???

  • Pro song.

  • Very good

  • firstmusic00 - I agree with you. I love this song/video. What's not to like about it?

  • As a life-long Genesis fan, I actually liked this album. I don't think it was given the credit is was do. Was it the same without PG and/or PC? No. But I think Mike, Tony and certainly Ray did the Genesis name proud. I wish they had done more together.

  • I think after this album they sold Ray to the congo.

  • 'Congo', what a classic from 'Calling All Stations', the best Genesis album by a mile. The only music video better than this in existence is The Plimptons' 'Lonely Old Man'

  • My mom and I love this song!

  • A good song, but not great as many people think. It is pretty catchy and is well-performed, but lacks of the depth and thought provoking lyrics of other Genesis albums.

In fact, it seems to me that Genesis sounds more like Mike + The Mechanics.

  • Ray's voice is so amazing... I love to hear him singor even speak... He's so mystic... and sexy ;)

  • Genesis reunited for one last tour, called turn it on again in the summer of 2007.

  • genesis just reunited and got rid of this guy didnt they recently? any news on tour dates?

  • Banks and Rutherford didn't just "get rid" of Ray Wilson. They just decided to call it a day with Genesis, as they didn't want to go through the effort of writing songs, recording and touring again, particularly since one could tell musical tastes were changing at the time (1998) and CAS wasn't received that well, in UK or US. It had nothing to do with Ray Wilson.

  • then why did ray wilson complain the way genesis delt with his departure and he still cant get other the fact that he was kicked from genesis

  • Because he expected to stay on for another album, but there was no "other album." I suspect Wilson was upset that he had put his own solo career on hold to join Genesis and was disappointed that Banks and Rutherford didn't continue the band, and thus his job, at the time. Joining Genesis put his solo aspirations on hold, yet it was his own decision to join Genesis. But he wasn't "kicked" from Genesis.

  • this song is clutch!

  • Testie 1 2

  • nothing real but something just pops

    they are gone faraway

  • Gr8 song for me:)

  • phil collins actually made it sound .. good. ray , not so much

  • not bad but different

  • true

  • Congo is a country in Africa.

  • This is not a bad song and the voice of Ray is interesting.. but Phil Collins is better...

  • The music is nice, but the lyrics are so poor.

Ray's involvement in the band was a disaster.

When they lost Peter in '75, it was a decline from that point on.

  • I wholeheartedly disagree. Even though many people dismiss Collins' Genesis as selling out (which they kind of did, really), they created a lot more popular of an art than they did while it was Gabriel's, and you can hardly disagree with that. I like a lot of both of the Genesis'. I even like this, even though this never turned out.

  • Phil Collins était excellent.

Ray Wilson le fut aussi dans cette courte carrière au sein de Genesis. superbe album. dommage, j'aurai aimer une suite

  • Great vid!

  • Does anybody have original clip (with Phil Collins)? I saw it once and I think it was much better than this one.

  • Sorry you're wrong. This is the only clip. Ray Wilson was the vocalist from this album "calling Stations" not Phil.

  • PHIL.... HE'S THE BEST....

  • Nope, Phil left, he did drums and vocals for a time. Mike Rutherford is guitar, and tony banks is keyboards. Now Ray Wilson is on vocals

  • Sorry you're wrong, Ray is kick off and Phil is come back for vocal;) but for the album "the dividing line" is Ray Wilson for vocal:)

    ps: sorry for my english!;)

  • im sorry, is that phil on the guitar? i thought he played drums... but hey i only discovered genesis recently, and dont study it as much as some people do. but a little confirmation would be nice

  • that can't be phil. for this album he was replaced by the vocal from Stiltskin. don't know who plays drums.

  • The drummer on this is Nir Zidkyahu. There's a track on this album called "The Dividing Line" where the drumming by this guy is incredible. This video was shot in Malta.

  • Tony Banks on keyboards, Mike Rutherford on guitars/bass, Ray Wilson on vocals.

Drums for this album were done by a couple of session drummers not formally part of the band.

  • ok, i understand that and all. but if you pause it at 00:21/22 does that guy not look like mr collins?

  • Haha! That's Mike Rutherford (bassist and guitarist).

  • Haha, no it looks like Mike Rutherford!

  • Very good

  • good song, but I still prefer it with Phil.

  • Phil in solo

  • GENESIS = GREAT GROUP

  • This is ok.... much prefer the live version though. :D Gives a very different feel to it.

  • Whatever the line up, Genesis rule the Cosmos.

    Genesis for ever!

  • I'm really surprised they went on after Collins left. Mind you, it's not a bad song... but I guess I'm so used to Phil's voice that this just seems strange to hear this voice attached to a Genesis song.

  • nice and good song

  • Folks Genesis was always about change. The band changed about 5 different times, and the sound evolved. I have nothing against this album as part of that evolution, though seems this was the end...

  • Much as I like Phil Collins, and I do, Ray did a fantastic job on this cut. What's your problem - and did you sire anyone at all?

  • Collins was an actor, genesis theatralic. Ray is a normal singer, just singing a text...

  • I like Calling All Stations! Somewhere between prog and dark non-mainstream prog. Plus, ya can't go wrong with a Scotsman. After all, Fish from Marillion was Scottish

  • It's nor Genesis again and I don't know why Tony & Mike have chosen ray. I think they did it to kill Genesis. I don't know, but it's a feeling...

  • excellent thanks, his voice fits the song as well, it's made for it...

  • Everyone complains about how Genesis changed with Peter and/or Steve left. But, they really changed for the worse when Phil left.

  • I must disagree. They doing something different. It would've worked. Given time. The CAS album is great. The second album would've been better.

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. Well put. I liked this CD very much. Ray's voice recalls Peter in a way. Kinda dark with a lower range

  • Yeah... the public should've given them a chnace. :( But this was also a time when music tastes were changing... the same thing might have happened even if Phil didn't leave. But, havning said that, look what happened when they reunited. :P

  • phil was better

  • Phil was better at his own songs. These songs were not written for Phil's type of voice.

  • Yeah... in fact Tony was thinking of Ray singing in when he was writing this song!!!! :D

And 6raleigh2... course he was better! What do you expect? It wasn't easy for Mike and Tony to replace him. But Ray's great. I think he's a great singer in his own right.

  • Great vocals on this song!

Ray, Mike & Tony = The new genesis.

Thank you Mike & Tony for giving us Ray.

  • Sorry Phil is back, Ray is gone

  • Phil only came back for the reunion Tour. Mike & Tony are still in contact with Ray.

  • Don't forget Nir!! :D

  • this songs good but it does'nt feel like genesis

  • Phil, Peter & Ray were the best.

I agree. Only Ray,mike & Tony can give this brilliant song a dark rock atmophere.

Phil would turn it into dark pop. which is good too!

  • who the fuck ray

  • Exactly. A nobody who got lucky.

  • This is a brilliant video. The Single should've been top 10. I do feel only Wilson can give this song enough darkness.

  • You're right about more people being interested in CAS. My friends in the U.S didn't even know about this album. After hearing it on the internet, they love it!

Ray, Tony & Mike had potential. That would of been developed.

Genesis will never try anything different again. That's sad, for a progressive rock band. Genesis will remain the same with their elderly frontman, and never more forward.

As long as it's a financial success, that's all that matters to Genesis now.

  • Woulda, shoulda, coulda. They are done and this is coming from a real, hard core fan. Not just a bunch of MTV Europe, Johnny Come Lately's...

  • I am also a hardcore fan, in America. Ray has a cult following over here now. The numbers are growing.

  • More people are starting to realise that now.

Yes, the 80s were about pop. However, a progressive Rock band does not do pop music. The band is not completely in control of themsleves.

  • "Congo" should have been a top 10 single in the US. Ray looks great completely wet!

  • Ray's a brilliant singer/songwriter.

He's still in the international music industry.

  • Is it just me, or does Ray's singing kind of channel David Gilmour? Also, who was the drummer in the band at this time? Finally, RE: all of the negative comments about this Genesis lineup........yes, CAS wasn't their BEST album, and Ray is no Phil (or Peter), but at least CAS wasn't another Van Halen 3, and Ray wasn't another Gary Cherone! (Can you say HUGE ATROCITY??)

  • nice soing and voice

  • I thought CAS was an OK Genesis album. Ray's a good singer (better than either Peter or Phil at sounding as good live as in the studio, BTW). Maybe they should have stuck with him & given him more writing input. But I agree that CAS doesn't sound like 1997, or like previous Genesis. It sounds kind of like a Tony Banks solo album, actually. P.S.: Phil was NOT Genesis. He wasn't even an original member; he just happened to be the frontman when they hit their commercial peak.

  • You know, you give this a bunch of crap and say that Peter and Phil were MUCH better. Well, if you LISTEN to Peter, this is just like something he would do. Pay attention to all the beats and rhythms in there!!! And its like Phil when the song picks up then loses constant rhythm! Plus Ray is FINE. So, this is the peak of Genesis!!!!!

  • Naah, don't think so. The peak? Wind and Wuthering was their peak although I saw 78, 80 and 82. After that, I was done with them. They really should've hung it up instead of having this nobody be their singer and front man, who now resides in the "Where is he now?" file.

  • Ray wilson was never a nobody. Ray is writing more songs for his new album, and has written songs for other artists. Ray does sold-out gigs across Europe and Scotland. If you look on his official website, you'll see what he's doing now. All the songs on the 'SHE' album he wrote.

Ray wilson is still very successful.

  • Well, with Genesis, compared to Peter or Phil he is. Their live version with him of "The Lamb" is terrible. Hey, wish him luck with his own music. But with Genesis? Ick!

  • Peter liked Ray's version of the Lamb, apparently.

  • Aha awesome!! :D

  • Ray is a wonderfoul singer and I like his voice more than Phil's one.

  • Phil Collins & Genesis 4ever!

  • this isnt floyd!! (be cool it was said for a reason, she knows what i mean)

  • nice video

  • OH PLZ

  • The late Kevin Gilbert would have been the perfect replacement for not only Phil but Peter..If you've not heard the masterpiece "The Shaming Of The True" you all should. There is also a great video of Kevin doing The Lamb..Top to bottom and NAILING it!. Too bad he left us too soon to step up. HE was the PERFECT guy for this music. Seeing him in Genesis would have been a dream come true for not only me , but him , I'm sure.

  • phil is (in my opinion) the better singer but ray is deffinetly very talented but they are definetly not on the same songwrighting level, phil just beats the crap out of ray.

  • Ray cu soon.. rock on

    (22.11.07 MuK Giessen :o)

    thx & best wishes

    terra aid networks

  • Calling All Stations is one of my favorite albums of all time. Don't give a crap about how it compares to the previous ones, I just love listening to it.

  • Ok Sweetie, do you know exactly what is what? Do not think so bubby!

  • sweet one dude!!!!!

  • Great video and great song, though I prefer Phil Collins era.

  • I think when Phil Collins left and Ray Wilson took over vocals the band seemed to change direction too much to maintain the dizzy heights of success the band had with Phil, and to be honest the songs sound bland, especially after the very catchy stuff Phil was singing, its as if they went back to being progressive but with a wrong mix of styles, they ended up sounding like a very dull Mike and the mechanics than the mighty Genesis they were a couple years previous this this dribble.

  • i like some of the stuff on this album people give it alot of shit but there is some decent songs on there the only problem is that Rutherford and Wilson are shunted to the back by Banks who seems to do far too much

  • This album doesn't totally suck. They should've had Fish from Marillion, or Paul Carrack singing lead tho.

  • well Paul Carrack was in Mike + the Mechanics, so that would have failed, and they auditioned Fish, he failed to, so i guess the best thing was to have Ray Wilson.

  • I agree with ceazea. Tony Banks' synth solo on the full-length version sounded totally out of place for the song, which goes to show how much influence Phil Collins had in the group's sound. If Collins had been in the group, Mike Rutherford's guitars would've been more out front. The whole "Calling" album suffers from Banks' overindulgence on synths, which makes the album sound dated, and drowns out Rutherford and made vocalist Ray Wilson seem like a second fiddle instead of front man.

  • I think this song is much better then a lot of you "genesis fans" give it credit for. I think it kind of has a timeless sound. Of course this was about it for this lame album. I think it holds up many of the good singles of the early 80's even with a strange voice. I'll take this over Invisible touch any day!!!! See ya at the Bowl!!!!!

  • ^^Boy, that's saying a whole helluva lot!

  • What happened to the awesome key board solo?!

  • That is where the song should of eneded. I thought that keyboard solo at the end of this was sooooo cheezy and did not fit into the song. Most of the songs on this record had no shame. Calling all stations and Congo, on the other hand, are actually pretty good songs considering I would rather hear another voice singing them.

  • Not a bad song, but it is just "pop" music, quite unlike early Genesis, which was brilliant, inventive & beautiful music. I wish they had dropped the name Genesis by then. With only 2 original members left, it was a cheek to use the same name. Would have saved a lot of venomous comments!

  • i have been a genesis fan for 30+ years longer than of some critics' lifespans.i declare far and wide that calling is an excellent album and this video is great.there'll always be retrogrades who can't accomodate new.that's goegel.negation of negation, dear sirs...

  • Kocham tego kto zobił ten teledysk i tego kto stworzył taką muzykę! Całość mnie zachwyca i jest wspaniała. Aż rozpala moją duszę...

  • What a shame! This song is not in the RS 500 Greatest Songs of All Time! By the way, Genesis doesn't even have an album in their top 500 Greatest Albums...

  • u sure u wanna go there????F.M

  • This probably is their best video of all time! Great singer + Great song + Great video = Masterpiece!

  • kingcrimson if you don´t like this song why are u wathing this vid?

  • kingcrimson123 I'm a progresive fan, but I'm a Genesis Fan too, that's I post this Vid.

If you hear it carfuly, is a good song, not progresive, but a good song after all
