for eyes i used ping pong balls and cut them to the right size,then i used sharpie for the pupils.last i put the felt i used for skin and glued on eyelids.the eyes looked just like the real muppet eyes.

Being a magician and puppeteer, I found the video very useful, but have you considered using felt and cardboard instead of foam? With those materials, you can make permanent clothes for your puppet.

The best way would be to stretch the fabric out and pull it tightly, then glue it onto the foam a little bit at a time. Smooth each bit out with your finger as soon as you put the fabric down to stop air bubbles and folds. Good luck!
