  • Would you fine folks at Griggs accept a first born for the GR40-WC-94SCO?

  • I've seen a lot of Griggs products and have owned a few. This stuff absolutely cannot be beat at any price. My absolute dream car would be a 91 Coupe with a full GR40 kit. One of these days!

Great driving. Awesome Cobra. One of my favorite Stang vids to date!

  • Anyone who's ever driven a Mustang vert of this era can verify... they don't handle ANYTHING like that from the factory! I'd call that $4,000 very well spent. You'd be hard pressed to find any car under $100K that could maintain that pace. Incredible driving, coupled with a very well set up Mustang. Nicely done! As for the passenger... kudos. THAT is trust, as that is a looOOoong way down off the side of that road.

  • I love watching the races when you guys come up the hill next to my house

  • This driver is so enjoing what he is doing...just look at the waving motion he does at 1:07 before shifting it to gear, we all have done that before...just feeling her out :)

  • what is he running for swaybars?

  • @EscortSportage

    Griggs front.

  • @EscortSportage Who cares, he's running an open convertable, no ammount of swaybars will help with that body flex.

  • so why is it that you guys run an SLA. I mean obviously you guys have that thing dialed in nice and tight... but wouldnt a built IRS do the same if not better?

  • @bluecapone

On a racetrack a live axle has several benefits over an IRS, the main one being its ability to put down HUGE amounts of power.

  • So this full suspension setup runs around $4,000? IMO that's really not bad. Sure it's expensive but it looks like it's got a lot of parts to it, a ton of time and engineering goes into a setup like this, and it obviously works. I'm assuming, being a Watts-link rear end the ride comfort suffers though. Are there other kits that offer better ride comfort? I have an '02 GT that I like to cruise in as well as drive the wheels off of and would like a suspension setup that would accommodate both

  • CONVERTIBLE!!!!!!!! I freakn' love it!!!!!!!

  • WOW!!!!.... one incredible Griggs equipped Mustang Cobra...

  • lol, next time have a cop chase him. I wonder how that would turn out.

  • I used to think an IRS setup was the way to go, but after seeing the GR40 builds were 03 and 04 cobras ditching the IRS and going for the solid, it makes me think twice.

  • and it's a convertible!

  • I think if I were in the passenger seat I'd be screaming, WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! incredible..... Man that is a badass machine!

  • This makes me want to race my mustang so BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

  • I just popped a woody.

    Kidding.

    Damn, that car is awesome!

  • man i cant wait to get my griggs setup. it's gonna be awesome!!!

  • That's one Smokin Stang!!

    Join.....SmokinStangs dotcom

  • eliminated body roll nearly completely.

thats a proper race car !

  • im impressed also

  • Hey Schwartz, IRS didn't appear till '99. I think John may have the watts link in that car though.

  • The IRS was first put on the 1999 Cobra. An impressive film, one screw up on that road and they'd be dead in that convertable, rollbar or not.

  • Ummm...94-98 cobra's did not have IRS buddy. IRS was intro'ed in 99-01 and again in 03-04.

  • are you possitive it is not a, 2004 cobra? with the full griggs suspension- because I've seen the red convertible as a cobra from 2004 yr.

  • Yes we're positive... it's a 98 Cobra.. the same one on the griggs home page.

  • Killer vid. Btw, saw the pic of your car on griggs site, what hood is that?

  • the front suspension on this car is 2nd to none.

  • The car handles superbly. Very good driving skills!

  • That is one sweet set up. I'll bet he gave the Ferari club a run for their money out there.

  • what kind of transmission is in that car? it sounds way too crisp to be a t45

  • Most likely the T56, same as the one they installed in my car.

  • i would like to know what transmission is in the car, i have a hard time believing that is a t45

  • Greatest video ever.

  • Nice driving. For some reason, the scenery & the noise remind me of a game called Interstate 76. "Hey Groove, check yo map.."

  • what year cobra is this?

  • Its probably a 99-00 cobra vert. its a good feeling knowing you have that IRS outback.

  • Nope... it's a 98 cobra, live axle with the watts link.

  • fuckin serious shit!

  • Really nice driving that was some smooth really good set up on the suspension too.

  • yea there professional drivers

  • I commend you sir! You have some real big balls to drive on a road like that I would be scared shitless.

  • Awesome driving John. It's amazing what you guys can do to Mustangs. I'm truly fortunate to own a Griggs Cobra.

  • Just a good driver in a rocket.

    Hes not taking any risks.

Without Griggs equipment it would seem just as fast to me.

  • What are you talking about!?!? Do you realize the car setup and driver talent needed to go as FAST as John is going! BTW, he beat ALL comers in the hill-climb (Ferrari, Porsche, Vette... you name 'em, he beat them ALL)!

  • my second names is griggs!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was realy scared going up their i was like go slow to my mom it was funny but your friend was realy good at driving!!

  • a mustang vert? that must be chassisflex city. griggs sure can make a suspension setup

  • you going this year?

  • Big balls man....big balls.

  • Coming soon ! EA Games presents the all new 2008 game release of The " Mustang " Virginia City Run...oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please - oh please...Damn.........Dream over !

  • Insane, who said muscle cant handle?

  • is that john?

  • Can my 2004 cobra handle exactly like this?

  • no lol

  • Sure.... just equip it with all the griggs stuff. Of course.. doesn't mean you'll be able to drive like that though ;)

  • It's ridiculous how smooth and quick this car is! It turns the roadside into a blur in an instant... very nice!

  • Will you take me for a ride?!? Man, I wish I still had my Cobra, I'd be saving for this suspension kit for sure!

  • What a way to advertise your product. Show what it can do. Awesome video.

  • Really impressed !!!! There didnt seem to be two inches of roll(top bar) and usually when the sway is that stiff a car breaks loose, simply amazing.

  • So smooth, calm and responsive driving. Awesome job, I'd love to go for a ride on a run like that.

  • This gives me $4K suspension/tire envy really bad!

  • Not to mention, the gearbox. The shifting looked effortless and had incredibly short throws.

  • I just wish my Mustang was this quick!!

  • heh, you just wish it could go around a corner

  • Nice driving. Really smooth, good to see. I like how that V8 was really ripping into the high rpm's - i'm guessing it had a fair bit of breathing work done?

  • so does this not have the live rear-axle?

  • This is a 98 Cobra, which did not have an IRS. It is equiped with the Griggs Racing SLA Open Track/Autocross Front & Rear Suspension system the rear suspension has been upgraded to a Watts Link. These same components can be found at the Griggs Racing website. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact Griggs Racing at 707-939-2244.

  • If only stock Cobra mustangs came with that suspension, the Europeans and other car snobs would be singing a whole different tune about American cars.

  • Very true.

  • yeah and at over 4K in after market this suspension can add over 10K to the price from the factory. It won't happen any time soon, but who cares? Just as long is the suspension is available. It beats the hell out of a 45K lotus.

  • No way would I try that in anything but a Griggs Racing Mustang

  • my heart is racing just from watching that video.

  • You're so smooth I thought you were 7/10ths most of the time. I know you weren't though. Car sounds really good and really nice driving.

  • Have been on that road a million times.....Normally going 15 mph behind the tourists.......Nice driving!

  • awesome driving! so smooth!

  • It makes me miss my GR40 Cobra. These suspensions are AMAZING. Anytime I'd let a friend drive the car they'd come away saying, "I want that, I want mine to drive like that." I love this video.

  • looked like fun, motor sounded good.

  • DAMN!!!
