Just read this opinion somewhere:

When FD sings "love will tear us apart" I don't feel like he's just talking about the isolated breakdown of a marriage so much as the fact that it's love itself that will break you down. That love and the suffering are two inseparable sides to the same coin. The relationship being torn down here is not just the one between two people in a marriage, but the one between you and your ego, and out of that comes something else. Perhaps you could even call it grace.
