Neo Geo games are nice, some of them classics even (like Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters), but if Capcom did a home console CPS with all their arcade hits beginning from the 80s (like Ghosts n' Goblins, Street Fighter, Magic Sword, Warriors of Fate) you know who the winner will be, even with same elite pricing.
hes really messed up his research he said the NEO geo has aone CPU it actually had 2 it was marketed as computing power of a 24bit console as it had a 16bit processor and a 8 bit processor. What really made it special was it had extra huge graphics processors.
The Neo Geo could do real sound samples same quality as the SNES but 15 of them at same time where the SNES only had 3 real sound sample channels the rest where for sound effects. The Neo geo sound chip is far better thwn the SNES one and is controled by a 8BIT CPU the sound chip and sound controler processor are two seperate processors. The snes sound had to go theough the main processor first then to the sound chip slowing the res of the game down.
Growing up in Sweden, this was extremely rare to have. It was like having the ferrari of video game consoles. I had a friend who got this system at the time it was new. (Yes, he was spoild.) I remember going to his house one day and saw him playing Metal Slug. At that time, that was mind blowing. So going home later and playing my Snes wasn't that cool. But id had to notice that i could never aford one.
I had a Neo Geo CD and sold it. What a waste of time. Slow games and it cost $250. I now have a PS2 with almost every Neo Geo Game ever for WAY less $.
Oh yes, the irony is, you can play almost all the Neo Geo CD fighters on the PS2 as well, with improved graphics and art (like KOF '94 rebout, '98 Ultimate Match and 2002 Unlimited Match) and much shorter loading times (no Neo monkey juggling coconuts) too.
I am 25 yrs old and grew up with these kind of games (Sonic the hedgehog mad back then) . I play my Neo Geo AES console and Sega Megadrive/Genesis more than my PS3! Metal Slug 4 is my fave game at the momnent. :-)
Hey Guys, I need your help, it's been a long time I've been trying to remember the name of an arcade game in about 1995. the style of the game is like alien vs predator but the scene takes place in the middle age. there are 4 characters (knight) and when you start playing it was saying : welcome to the "indy" or "bb" world. can you give me the name of that game please. ps : it's not golden axe because the gameplay is much better.. Thanks
snes sound better than neo geo? hmmmmm, Snes has 8 digi channels with limited rom space on cartridge and the neo geo has 15 sound channels with a lot more rom space. the person that edited this video made a big mistake during research...Neo Geo´s sound blows the snes away like a piece of dust
Going to have to go with the reviewer on this one. The Neo geo Sound chip was an 8bit chip while the Super Nintendo had a 16bit chip. Neo may of had a few more channels but.... Regardless he says that the Neo Geo system dwarfed SNES's capabilities.
Never saw one person use a memory card in the arcade. Probably stemming from the $600 price tag for the system and $200-$300 for the games. The games were awesome though.
The Carts for Neo-geo were not only expensive due to the rom size. The real reason they were expensive is because the Neo-Geo system did not contain any ram. This meant that every game had to have ram built in.
Dude sorry if he isn't screaming like a douche bag like the AVGN or some other latest wanna-be internet celeb gamer. He's actually trying to be professional and treat the subject with respect. Its refreshing to see that for a change instead of some tool making gamers look like morons.
Do you people just love to bash at someone who makes fair suggestions? All of a sudden you think I hated this video just because of one single criticism I made?
You disregard my first sentence where I said I loved the retrospective and focused on the other. Wat to take things out of context.
Uh, what do u mean not bored. He did a nice job of explaining the history of SNK. I agree with songoku350, he was real professional and spoke well. What r u complaining about?
The neo geo sure was ahead of it's time.Just what,it could do in terms graphically.Beside the power the system command.Being a mvs owner myself it is some thing to play on it's own hardware and not settling for ports.
They are much cheaper. But i like having the picture and the frame also the Neo Geo AES has a nice sleek design, while the mvs look like someone found it in the junk yard unless you buy the arcade cabinet also.that`s why i mess with the AES.

YOU FUCKED UP!
neo geo carts aren't megabytes you clown, they're measured in megabits, and they were nowhere near the capacity of a CD, the biggest titles AT 716Mbit.
8 mbits = 1mbyte
after doing the math you will realise at best they were approx 100 mega byte cartridges at largest, which is less than 1/7th the size of a CD.
damn, that's rough. yeah we knew about the mis-pronunciation and error - it was a mistake that was too late to fix in the release. And the length is due to this simply being our full ep. 11. It's part of our DVD coming out next week
there is a mix bag of stuff used to make this. We have access to an rgb to composite video converter that we hooked up to an MVS pcb, a buddy let us borrow his MVS to AES converter and his aes system. Some game footage was also taken from the Wii version of SNK Arcade Classics and other compilations for the PS2. Emulation unfortunatley had to be used to showcase the neo pocket games however we only chose games that we actually own to be showcased.
I feel the same way about emulation, I don't feel right playing the games I don't own, however I'll use an emulator to play an import or games I'm interested in buying, but I'd never substitute emulation for the actual thing, theres nothing like sitting in front of a TV with a controller.
I could hear it in my mind...

Certain ports of games have glitches or some features that are unexpected and endearing too.
Don't be so singular-minded.

Le jeu que tu recherches est / the game you're searching for is :
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
2 jeux ont été édités / have been edited :
D&D Tower Of Doom (~1993)
D&D Shadows over Mystara (~1996)
J'y ai joué dans les années 93 à 96. I played it in the 93-96 years.
Je me rappelle de tous les jeux auxquels j'ai joué en arcade, même ceux il y a plus de 25 ans !
I remember myself all the games I've played in arcade, even those...more than 25 years...

You forgot Sega's Dreamcast console and Naomi Arcade units. You could use their VMU on both hardwares and transfer game saves.
But I didn't know the Neo Geo home system was the first console to have a slot for memory cards.

you ★★ stars for presentation and clarity
you get another ★ for length of content
you lose ★★ stars for misinformation of cart sizes - for a retroholic this is very sloppy
overall rating of the first part of this episode: ★★★
