It's called approach procedures. It is necessary for aviation in instrument conditions to function. This is most likely practice for said procedures. Since aviation is more important than your garden, I'm gonna have to say: MOVE.
@lucytoper No. They fly over my house terribly rarely and lower than in this video (about 1000-1200m) On a good summer day I'm lucky to see even three planes usually all Ryanair and they don't bother me at all.
So to sum up then Toilu, I often see one plane a minute (often more) fly over my garden. You see three planes a day. I don't think you're really qualified to comment, do you?
@lucytoper Yes I am? Anyone is qualified to comment to your video because I don't see any comment pending approval things? And I was just trying to tell you what's the point of living under a busy flightpath and then complaining about it? Just deal with it.
Awful. You have my sympathies. I live in Wanstead in NE London, and since June we not only have Heathrow at about the same as in your vid, but far worse, City Airport beneath at about 2500ft. They are completely intrusive and have ruined the area.
It will continue whilst we have corrupt government which rolls over to aviation at the expense of residents' quality of life.
Lucytoper- I noticed the sky is filled with chemtrail-like smoke- I recorded some of this same type of "smoke" in several of my vids concerning noise- maybe there is a correlation?
Aircraft noise is always audible...above all if you live in rural areas away from big cities. Even when a plane is "en route" (letting off a contrail), flying at high altitude the noise will reach the ground for a couple of minutes. You´ll hear the noise if the plane is overflying your position.
Alan, These are short answers as there is a limit on characters per post. I estimate height to be about 3-4000ft. Busiest time is 7-8am then in the evening say 6-8. (The rest of the day I'm at work) Yes they follow a pretty exact path. In my area I would say Gt Yeldham is noisiest. Not sure about the video positioning - try just audio with something like bird song in the background. Don't think I can answer your question re dual carriageway - it would be a complete guess.
The real frightening thing as far as Stansted is concerned is that the new flight paths do NOT take into account the massive increase in air traffic that a second runway would bring.
As part of our (SOSAG's) attempt to publicise the potential blight posed by NATS latest plans (we are thinking of making a video too) I wonder if you could let me know:

My SOSAG colleagues found your video very helpful and we much appreciate you letting us know about your experiences.
PS. We will be participating in the Airport Watch demo outside NATS HQ in London on 19th June.
Many thanks for your comment Alan. Because of much bad feeling and vindictive comments aimed at me (which I have erased) I am not inclined to give my exact address, however, if I say I am in the Gt.Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham area of north Essex that will give you a pretty good idea.
I just wish my poor recording would do proper justice to the intrusion we suffer here from aircraft approaching Stansted.

You're lucky to live there. I'd love to watch planes all day in the garden. If you don't like it then why did you move there?

If that amount of aircraft noise bothers you, the sound of the birds chirping must drive you spare!

Hi Lucy,
I'm very sorry that some people have given you a hard time.
I'm very grateful for your response as we (SOSAG) are challenging NATS proposals at the moment.
Your video is very helpful.
Best wishes,
Alan.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your kind words.
The real frightening thing as far as Stansted is concerned is that the new flight paths do NOT take into account the massive increase in air traffic that a second runway would bring.
Wishing you luck

4. Which location in your area is the worst affected ?

5. What do you think is the best place to make a video (ie. somewhere accessible that would be very quiet without the planes).
Alan.

6. At its worst how close would you have to be to a busy dual carriageway for the noise to be at a similar level ?
That's the last question.
Thanks very much for your help.
Best wishes.

Something like this is planned for us mid-Suffolk (and other places) next Spring.

Everyone wants low fares, but they'll shout NIMBY as well. We all make sacrifices.
