listening to dillinger is like rough sex in the back of a VW bug in the Caught in a hurricane on the side of a erupting volcano with a tsunami tidal wave on the horizon during a earthquake.
This totally doesn't sound like every hardcore shit band out there. Kids will do anything to piss off/confuse their parents. Even listen to cheesy shit like this.
Never been a huge fan of modern day, technical metal really, but I have to say, these guys put a great creative twist to it all, I really like these guys.
@frootloopwarriors Modern day? i started listening to DEP about 12 years ago. they are still keeping it real... really hard like a riot shield to the face, and the melodic tones to sober you up occasionally, like a holding cell.
@Adanster12 Towards the end, right around the part where he says "we're never apart" all the way up to the end. They didn't seem to put his voice very high in the mix though, it's getting overpowered by Greg's beastliness.
it should be mandatory that all these metal song have subtitles with a red dot bounding along the top of the words for two reasons (1) i can never understand what they are saying (2) that way everybody can sing along yay
@lcm104 The jazz is in the use of polyrythms, usually. Not all mathcore uses polyrythms though. That is a pretty good definition. Although DEP isn't the most generic mathcore band out there.
This type of music isn't really my style, but Dillinger is pretty badass. I saw them live, and thought it was just "noise", but the performance was amazing! Then I started listening to them more and realized that it was more than just noise. It's pretty genius to write music like this.
Why do you say that? Because he thinks the album would flow better? It's not like he hates the songs or the band. Don't get angry at someone just because their opinion doesn't suit yours.
I dig 'Milk Lizard'. I think the horn section is really cool and I like the chorus. But yes, 'Black Bubblegum' is kind of a challenge to sit through. Putting those two songs on the album was a good move for them though. It helped bump up their recognition big time. And the coolest part is, their still crazy/weird as fuck! lol I love this band.
Not sayin its bad...i jus thought that setting fire to sleeping giants and unretrofied fit in better on miss machine than those two do on ire works...regardless both are good albums
everytime i listen to this album i skip black bubblegum and milk lizard...alone i do not think they are terrible songs....but this album would flow with those song emmitted
As I understand it mathcore is typically considered to have grown out of metalcore.
A lot of people hate metalcore because there are an awful lot of medicore metalcore bands, but that doesn't mean that the genre itself is bad, just that there are a lot of bad musicians making the music shitty.
I agree. With metalcore, there are alot of really good bands with some incredibly talented musicians. unfortunately there are just as many posers. its all about finding the truly good bands.
After listening to this song a few times I think it's safe to say that the only part with Dimitri in it at all is 2:23-2:42 when the vocal tracks of him and greg are layered over each other. Greg tries his best to mimic the dillinger style of old, but their difference are still fairly noticable. And I just don't hear Dimitri anywere but the end. Lame.
anyone single out for my the specific parts dimitri sings on? ive been trying to get it but theyr respective screams are too similar for me to pick out
You should listen to the song Deconstructing Towers by Isis from the cd Celestial.. I have a feeling you might like the middle part of that song. Cheers!
at the end of the song "Price For Her, Price For Her.." if you listen closely you can tell there are two voices at work. they didnt take turns, they just did the last lines together

yeah its good to hear dillinger heavy again! ive heard black bubblegum and milk lizard n was let down,=( good names at all! who hear likes monticello or clip the apex? love those songs! BRING BACK CHRIS!!!!
I'm not trying to pick a YouTube fight or any bullshit, but I think making a "screamo" reference towards a band like Dillinger, is like comparing night and day.
Most people don't even know what Screamo is. Screamo started around 1990 and has never been the least bit popular. These guys are not the least bit Screamo, other than the fact that they use Hardcore vocals. Listen to Indian Summer for real Screamo.
@X13XCORE thats what i was asking of you, to elaborate for me. pg.99 and orchid are both screamo, I'm not saying you are wrong by any means because screamo came from hardcore. And yes people who don't know anything about extreme forms of music i.e. people that get their music from the radio, think that if the vocals are screamed then it must be screamo. And the only reason why i'm having a rebuttal with you on this matter is because both pg.99 and orchid are among the first bands of the genre.
@inthepants117 Yeah your right did some research (google) and found out screamo is a genre. Good job you taught me something today. But, I'm right in the way that I'm using it, that stupid people needed a name for songs with screams, and your right in the way your using it which is there are real legit screamo bands.
@X13XCORE high five for double win lol (place hand here). But on a serious note i really do hate when every prep and mindless jock is like hahaha what you listening to screamo hahaha... better then your lil wayne shit wigger etc.

@X13XCORE the only rap i can stand is white people rap aka wu-tang i've never saw a wigger listen to them in fact i even asked on what they thought about it and they be like whos dat. just the stupidity of others is astounding lol. As for techno it has to be in like my grind or just old because guess what scenesters want to ruin electronic music for me to =\. i swear if my kid ask for money to buy a classic and he brings me brokencyde i'll no longer have a son
My fav tracks are "Fix Your Face", all of the the tracks from "When Acting as a Particle" to "When Acting as a Wave", "Milk Lizard", "Horse Hunter", and "Mouth of Ghosts"(final track). Ire Works has the most emotion out of anything we've ever seen from Dillinger, and I think that's definitely a good thing. And as for the last track... what a fucking way to finish an album.
