5- count the number of frames, and by knowing your frame-rate you can compute the time difference between the two frames down to a hundredth of a second.

6- speed = can length divided by the time difference.

Guaranteed accuracy.

Guys... if you want to up the accuracy of calculating the speed of the can, here's how you do it...

1- there should be a frame count on the slow mo playback for this to work.

2- measure the can length (get a new similar one, obviously you got plenty).

3- take any frame as a datum after it has already lift off (let's say 1 meter above the stove).

4- the next frame should be the one where the bottom of the can is at the same point where its top was on the datum frame.

I actually had something like this happen right next to my head. Someone had put a can of something (think it was air freshener) on our camp fire and I dropped my mobile, went down to pick it up and BOOM! It was like shell shock from the beach in Saving Private Ryan lol. Lucky I didn't get too hurt except for loosing my hearing for a few days. =/ Obviously the moral behind my story is tell people when you are firing explosives into camp fires and don't let them find out on their own lol.

Guys, 3 m in 3 seconds same as 1 m in 1 sec. and it's 100 times slower so it's 100 m in 1 sec. you don't need a calculator for that.. in km/h that is 3,6x100 which is 360 km/h. so 230 mph is about right. But guys.. you don't use a calculator for that kind of math.

I've been working this out (sad but fun..) and the time given doesn't make things add up... you get a Vmax of 450mph (200m/s) and a max height of 2km... not likely :') So I looked at the time, and since it's 2500fps and normal speed is 60 (maybe?), I re-ran the calculations. Vmax was now 185mph (83m/s) and max height was 350m. The average force during the acceleration was 250N (the force of a small child sitting on you). And this was all physics revision for my A-levels. *PROFIT* 8-)
