Fantastic program!! For those who have never experienced the thrill of an organ keyboard, it is an experience for many that is life changing. What a wonderful thing for these kids to get the opportunity.
I really enjoyed hearing the young kids cheering at the end of the production after they've been enlightened to the sheer complexity and the amazing sounds the organ is capable of producing. You can listen to track after track on stereos and Youtube and never get the full experience of actually BEING there and feeling the floor and your chest rumble with the power of the 16's and 32's and the delicacy of the 1 1/3's and smaller. It's the ultimate experience! :))
I hate the term "king of the instruments" because it contributes to spread the notion that "more difficult is better" or " more complex is more important". Organist with common sense don't look at themselves as more skilled or more intelligent than any other musicians.
I have a YouTube playlist of over 40 young organists. From the playlist description:
"As an organ enthusiast, I am always encouraged when I find a young person who has an interest in playing the king of instruments! I have compiled this playlist of organists ranging from a very young age to around 20, and of varied experience levels."
I have linked the playlist to various organ related sites, including Wikipedia's article "Organists". (Click my name, then click "Playlist:, Young Organists")
When was this event? I see Ed Stout there and I am doubtful if he is still alive. It was a severe shock to my brain to see him in this video. We have a history.
I got to hear Felix perform in person in San Diego California at All Souls Episcopal in Point Loma. He was about 17 then and is now 23. It was fantastic and I got to sit close so I could see his hands on the keys. What a great player!
Great video. Those organs look amazing. I wish I could play an instrument like that. The one organ I have weekly access to (barely!): 1 manual, 2 ranks. Two. Amazing, huh...
Piano is my main instrument, I guess, but I've recently become quite obsessed with the organ. Wish I had the chance to play it more often.
if u want a real pipe organ (non-electric) it will cost around the high thousands to the high millions, for an electric it will cost around the mid hundreds to the loow thousands
Awesome video. I wish I could have had someone to coach me along when I was a kid. I wanted to learn to play the piano so bad at age 4, but mom and dad decided we needed a boat instead. Now all I can do is listen to pipeorgan CD's and dream about what might have been.
I want to do that at the 32 in the organ at my church. its a trombone unfortunatly so there is no opening at the bottom and you cant get to the top of it! :(
POEs are great!! I've gone to only one of them, but I know others who have gone and have heard from them. It is a great experience, very exciting, and very informative. It connects you with other organ lovers and really motivates you.
I really really wish there was something like that when I was younger. Unfortunately I never really got to discover how cool the pipe organ was until my late 20's. I did like the organ since I was a little kid.
great great great video! I've been to 3 POEs now, and they are sooo much fun. it is what really got me into the pipe organ, because I found out what a cool instrument it is, and there are other kids out there who love it too! :)
Top of the line, professional, motivational. Stunning video quality, impressive editing, and lots of young people. Showing young people around organs is important. Outstanding job!

Thanks. Wonderful upload by the way... :o)

@Blueaspen391 its called the king of instruments because of its size, its immense power, and tonal varieties.

I hate the term all the same
Blueaspen391 2 years ago
and being an organist, I'd never say such a thing as " I don't play the violin or the piano; I play the king of the instruments"
Blueaspen391 2 years ago
how much does it cost

I used to work for the Schoenstein Organ Co for 4 years. Best time of my life. Fun job. (most days LOL).

Are you rich, or did your bosses keep all the extra cash from their overpriced product themselves? :D

Sorry for my lack of culture here, but I'm wondering what's the name of the song in the beginning, I always hear it, and I think it's epic!

Allen makes some very expensive electronics

That would explain why few pipe organs are being built.
