I think the reason Fedor hasn't gone into the UFC yet is because right now he's at the top of everything and if he enters the UFC he knows that he's going to be fighting the best of the best then he loses a fight here and there and he's just another fighter trying to make his way up the ranks. I agree with the two guys under me (DeleeP & Robopencil) Training an art and actually using it are two different things. A Good example is when i started training Kickboxing. I had good kicks and punches because i had been doing it for a year but once it came time to start sparring hardcore. I was getting owned because i knew how to throw a kick at the bodybag but didnt know how to throw that same kick at my opponent. And Bruce Lee in a street fight OWNS EVERYBODY! In a cage? Pencil is correct. Martial artists are not fighters. They are similar but not the same.
A fighter trains for physical combat, while a martial artist trains usually for defense and discipline. However because martial artist usually only practice fighting is light "spars" or against boards/pads. They never actually get to feel another skilled fighter attacking them back.
A fighter will always have this advantage in this comparison. Like Bruce Lee said himself: " boards dont hit back"

There's a difference between a martial artist and a fighter. There are people who spend 20 or 30 years training Karate or Taekwondo. They good at their martial art, they know many techniques. But they've never fought anyone for real. They have no experience. If you pit them against a professional fighter, they'll get their asses handed to them.
1st off let me ask, are you a professional fighter? Are you grounded in any of the disciplines? I'm a fitness trainer & nutritionist & I work w/fighters also... where are you getting your info from cuz it makes no sense? @gameplayguy219 He didn't want to fight UFC because of the contract. He has never said anything bad about the UFC fighers, only that he didn't want to fight because the contract would make him UFC's 'property'.
Maybe he is not the greatest, he has a impressive record non the less. Minotauro was the best when he fought him. Cro cop was also a great fighter then. The special thing is that he has been unbeaten for 10 years.
But most importantly, he is a sportive and nice person.

You could make a case for either Andy or Fedor and it would be absolutely legit. Fedor fought beasts. Just want to say, about Lee and fedor:
They are both from different eras. Lee is dead, Fedor is alive. You cannot compare the two, or Lee to anybody else in MMA today, it is impossible.
With that said, Lee did not compete in a form of MMA against an MMA fighter. So one cannot say that he is better or worse.

Just so you all know, Bruce Lee was amazing but martial arts have evolved a lot since his time, besides what you see in his movies is a choreographed fight. Look up a real instructional video of Jeet Kun Do, you'll see that it's not MMA, it's ONE msrtial art that took parts of other martial arts to be more complete. Like Karate Do took from chinese arts and evolved from there...

look up Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee's own fighting style. He created a new fighting style that relies on fluidity and the ability to fight in any situation. thats mma at its purest not just someone who is trained in 3 different styles.

I agree with the two guys under me (DeleeP & Robopencil) Training an art and actually using it are two different things. A Good example is when i started training Kickboxing. I had good kicks and punches because i had been doing it for a year but once it came time to start sparring hardcore. I was getting owned because i knew how to throw a kick at the bodybag but didnt know how to throw that same kick at my opponent. And Bruce Lee in a street fight OWNS EVERYBODY! In a cage? Btw Bruce lee was not a prize fighter. He concentrated mainly on street fighting. In the ring bruce would probably get destroyed by any high ranked mma fighter. However on the street that might be a different story. He would most certainly kick to the balls, strike to the eyes, punch the throat etc... Which would be devastating to anyone. Also his style J.K.D was essentially the birth of mma. since its a mixture of different effective martial arts. Which mma stands for "mixed martial arts"

Pencil is correct. Martial artists are not fighters. They are similar but not the same.
A fighter trains for physical combat, while a martial artist trains usually for defense and discipline. However because martial artist usually only practice fighting is light "spars" or against boards/pads. They never actually get to feel another skilled fighter attacking them back.
A fighter will always have this advantage in this comparison. Like Bruce Lee said himself: " boards dont hit back"

There's a difference between a martial artist and a fighter. There are people who spend 20 or 30 years training Karate or Taekwondo. They good at their martial art, they know many techniques. But they've never fought anyone for real. They have no experience. If you pit them against a professional fighter, they'll get their asses handed to them.

I don't care how much kata you do, when the time comes to really fight you have no actual experience. You have no idea how effective your techniques are because you've never tested them in your life. All you can do is beat up air, or pads, or plywood.
