  • How do you teach a pony to rear

  • He's beautiful, not stressed in any way, watching his trainer alertly for his cue, this is cooperation and trust between human and horse. It does happen y'know!

  • You named your fjord taco? That's so cute :)

  • Rearing is NOT fun >.>

  • MY TO FAV THINGS!!! TACOS AND ♥Fjords♥

  • Cute pony :D i love fjords

  • He doesnt do it on a command of you look good , the person uses a whip..

  • I enjoyed it much more when you fed him a treat! =D

  • Haha you're Dutch aren;'t you P)(

  • lol i rode a fjord pony in a show and i jumped him. we only placed 4th in eq u/s. but not in anything else :( he was my ex-friends pony and they said he was an amazing jumped just cause he jumped once! two years ago!!! and she tried to sabotoge my showing day, western and english, except i was on my horse for western.. um im rambling now :P what i was sayingg is they are super cute and quiet different to ride

  • julie kunnen gewoon in het nederlands praten hoor! hor je die stem niet? dat is gewoon nederlands!

  • your dutch ^^

  • if you look carefully, the "on command" is waving a whip below his face. it is true holding a whip beneathe a horse is often used to create a levade, however this is used among many other aids. your "command" is actually seen as a form of attack, and so the horse uses an instinctual reaction. its not a trick, its nature - and what happens if its next owner happens to be carrying a whip in the wrong way?

  • @magnetxxella, I'm not waving a whip below his face.

The video is not very clear but I wave the whip beside his right shoulder.

Also I use a voice command.

He never rears when I only wave my whip or only use my voice.

I have to combine these command.

I can tell you as much as I want but if you don't believe it I really don't care but he NEVER rears out of itself.. even not when he's playing in the yield.

  • @KellyEvers if he reacts naturally he would run away...

  • @magnetxxella Yeah right, thats why as soon as he's finsihed rearing he comes rushing forward for his treat, because he's 'being attacked'. If his next owner cant hold a whip properly, thats their problem, just as a child who can't canter better not go booting a pony thats been taught to canter !

  • @magnetxxella Why isn't he running away after if its that 'attacking' Hmmmm?

  • @Elliehedditch30 Because you have food - an incentive to keep him close. Can't you see the way he lashes out with that one hoof, and the body language where he twitches his face away from the whip? You need to find a way that is non threatening to ask a rear of him. All you need to do is maybe read some books.

  • @magnetxxella so your telling me if i was to do anything to my horse that he found threatening he would stay by my seid for a piece of apple? he might find it annoying or whatever but threatening is just stupid.

  • @magnetxxella stop thinking you know it all ass hole. Theyt gave it a treat after he did it so stop complaining. If the horse was frightened it would have ran away

    shut it you gimp!

  • @magnetxxella Look at his ears, they are not pinned back. Also, if you look closely, it's a wave near his shoulder.... Btw pretty horse! :)

  • and that is why i love fjords!

  • aw soo cute iv always wanted a fjord!!! and dont listen to these people that are all like "THATS DANGEROUSE YKNOW" cuase there DUMB. and for the record you "know it alls" there something called a levade LOOK IT UP!!!!!

  • the way he is rearing..he is rearing and the whip...thats not rearing on command thats him being pissed off about u throwing a whip at him...

  • @rainnovice93 im not trieng to be mean, i dont know much about training horses but if he was pissed of wouldnt he just leave? no one was holding the lead rope.

  • @mickeymouseluvaz not necessaraly..one of my horses if hes pissed at me he stands up to me and rears at me

  • wow he's beautiful. A Fjord was my second choice of horse after the mustang!

  • @capri30

First of all, learn to spell.

Second, how do you know that this horse does know how to do a half-pass and/or flying lead changes?

And 3rd, It's her choice to teach him a trick like that and you are being immanture by contradicting it.

  • @capri30, Taco already knows the half passes and de flying changes ;) So no need to learn him that again.

  • @capri30

    'speshul'?

Dear god what are you? 4?

And graciejockey101 is completely right, who are you to criticise her on what she wishes to teach her pony?! (who is beautiful btw, always wanted a Fjord!) If she wants to teach her pony to play frickin scrabble it's non of your business! All she's doing is showing what she and Taco have accomplished! How is teaching him to rear being immature? Have you seen the Andalausian Stallions in the Spanish riding school?Go tell those guys they're immature!

  • @happybunny455 Erm, Lippizanners , not Andalusians ! But apart from that I agree.

  • @nags2bitches My bad, I got befuddled in my rant :)

  • @capri30 you shut up she is teaching it sumthing and that shows how commited she is for taking time to do so and its not dangerous if its ON COMMAND honestly you should learn to read

  • @capri30 good on you

  • beautiful horse

    :)

  • Wow.. very beautiful and good horse!

  • he´s a good boy ;)

how did you learn that your horse? "I want to learn it to my too;) please reply in a mail

  • you need to learn the horse to lay down or something first because rearing is a dominatic trick!

  • He is stunning, what a beautiful boy.

  • He kicks out because I thought him to rear to do jambette with both legs.

So he both pows them to the front

Under the saddle he rears the same.

  • good horse:D

  • haha cool. I kind of agree, looks like his ears are back and that he is kicking out to get the stick away from him. But anyway lol good job and he is very pretty!

  • how did you train him to rear?????

  • Aww, Good boy! :)

  • if you care and trust your horse it will trust you back

  • I don't get it. What's wrong with you saying that?

  • Omg She Was Trying To Say Something Nice About Youu And Your Horse !!

And I Agree With Her You Need Trust Between You An dyOur Horse To Do SomeThing Like That :)

  • yeah, the problem with that is at the other end of the stick the horse might be rearing because they don't like it. They might not know what they're doing. But I think the horse looks ok :]

  • uh, no he doesn't need to trust her to rear. horses rear all the time. if it laying down or bowing then it would be different.

  • so cute!!!!! i love his tail! lol good job!!

  • WOW thats well cool yor horse is soooo cute he knows whats hes doing

  • aww hes beautiful, ive always wanted a fjord, im gonig to buy one wen i leave college after 6th form hopefully :D

hes gawjuss, and does it really well, you can see hes not scared, hes just doing what you want and having fun :)

  • xlovexhorsesx: you don't need a strong bond with a horse to make him rear.

  • fjording<3

  • OMG a Fjord!! I love them! I love their manes! How did you train to do that?

  • your pony is amazing ! :D

  • Wat een leuke fjord is dat zeg!! :)

  • OMG that is so cool i ride a norweign fiord! i have been trying to teach my pony to rear but its not working lol! can you help like give me tips and stuff please! :)

  • hehe cute:D

  • He's gorgeous.A good exsample of his breed.

  • how did you teach it that??

  • nice horse

  • nice!

  • ooooooh i love these ponies! he's gorgeous!! =D
