If you pause around 0:56, you'll see that it's not his fist that makes contact. It's a little lower than his elbow. He basically slingshot his arm and created a ton of speed/force when it hit his opponents incoming face. Wow! Those fighters practice a ton of shit that you wouldn't even think of that would work, but they do.

I respectfully disagree. Pause at 0:37 and you'll see exactly that the back of his forearm hits his face and his fist is visible in the camera view (meaning his fist did not hit his face first). It happens so fast that it looks like his fist made initial contact, but it did not. I have a picture of the hit if you would like to see it.

i wouldn't say he was lucky. when he started the spin, payan thought he was going for a low kick. then reyes spun so fast payan didn't have time to do anything. anyways, eventough reyes fist didn't connect, his forearm connected to the jaw line. that's a knockout right there. and the move was done correctly, he was just too close

While I agree that the actual strike wasn't executed with as much power as it could have been, feigning the leg kick's hip rotation/follow through in order to lower his opponent's guard was executed as well as it had to be to land a solid shot. Back-fists on an unguarded opponent hit very hard to matter how bad the form is. All in all, he sized it up, drew his opponent's guard (which is the hardest part), and landed clean. Props to Yahir. :)

This is a perfect example of "it's all about the setup, stupid!". He had,

1) that fake back leg kick,

2) the half-turn that looks like the start of a cower instead of a deliberate step-in to powerup,

3) combined with a dropped leading hand and shoulder which further encourages the opponent in.
