IMO doesnt work in this setting. Almost sounds like a kazoo in some parts and an accordian in others. Blues and country is where the harmonica shines most.

@journeyquest1 you are quite clueless. This is a chromatic harmonica and has been played for classical music for more years than you've likely been alive. He is playing Genevieve as Larry Adler did, which is precisely WHY they chose him to play the lead for this piece. Perhaps a modicum of education would help? A diatonic (10 hole blues harmonica) is used for blues. A chromatic harmonica is used for Jazz , classical and other genres. If you know nothing about harmonicas (as is clear), why post?

Hello, hoshmack. Achille is a professional player, and would certainly be playing a twelve-hole (forty-eight-note) chromatic. The ten-hole type, e.g., the Hohner chromonica, doesn't have the range, whereas his would have that of a flute. Unlike a flute, a chromatic (including ten-holers) is not limited to playing single notes (the sax is similarly 'limited'), and can play double-stops, and intervals, though these are limited. There again, all instruments have limitations.

For those of you who don't know, Philip was playing a tune composed by the late, great Larry Adler called Genevieve Waltz. That one tune, exclusively composed for harmonica, is the only song every written for harmonica to be nominated for an Oscar. That one song, that Mr. Achille plays beautifully, fed, clothed and educated Mr. Adler's family and children and put them all through college. Larry Adler would be quite proud of Mr. Achille's performance of his piece. Truly amazing!
