  • So beautiful, the söng,lyrics, and the art work. Amazing

  • Love the one at 3:30. Who did that one?

  • I know its a cover, and joni is awesome but..This song takes my breath away every time i listen to it, and makes my heart ache. Its just simply stunnning.

  • In the picture @1.34 it looks like shes holding a fat cock? Is it Tory Amos or Tore my Anus??

  • @MichaelCook84 yeah I can see Tori doing that!

  • Beautiful... I wasn't aware of this tribute, which is what's so fun about you tube. Discovering little treasures like this.

  • Tori does a lot of really good cover songs, all beautiful tributes to the original artists. "please come to Boston" is a great one, too.

  • My favorite song of all time, honored by my favorite musician of all time. Happy Birthday tomorrow, Tori!

  • The best version of this song. Thanks for uploading. Tori is a remarkable singer. Such passion

  • <3 my first taste of Joni :)

  • @1:40 where's that portrait from?

  • nice cover...

  • I like most of Tori's songs but this one falls flat. Joni sings it from inside that world in which the song resides. Tori over-sings it. Her voice skims over the surface, drawing attention to itself. Same problem with Diana Krall and Prince. K. D. Lang is the only other singer I've heard who's voice dives into the song and expresses that world while inviting you in.

  • @LorenzoNW The only one who does better than Joni is Joni herself. Listen to her rendition of this song on 'Both Sides Now' (2000)

  • @LorenzoNW ''Tori isn't over-singing it, she is just singing it in her own special, tori way. Like she sings everything.

  • I love the emotional depth that Tori Amos vocals bring to Joni Mitchell's lyrics, mixed with such beautiful artwork...well done and thank you for sharing.~Phurdrick

  • Her vibrato is so obnoxious, but it sounds better when its low.

  • those who love comparing tori with joni might want to read this (borrow from the undented)

...says Amos. “Joni Mitchell cleared a lot of brush away with her machete in the ’60s to make room for so many who have come after her.”

The limited second disc to “Under the Pink” called “More Pink” included a cover of Mitchell’s “A Case of You,” a song Amos says she wishes she had written herself.

i'm a huge tori fan and i always love her cover of my favourite joni's song

  • beautiful version, toris' style

  • Cartoon coaster.... not cotton coaster.

  • This song reminds me of my mother. She used to sing Joni Mitchell songs to me when I was a child to help me sleep. Now I am crying at the memory of it! I love this song & I love Tori Amos too, many many thanks for posting it.

  • Tori Amos is not ready for this song (I'd love to hear her in 10 years).

    Search for Diana Krall's cover.

  • @ilalfisto I'm not agree. I think this is better.

  • @starwitness100

Hey, to each his own - we both enjoy our preferred versions of the song, and that's what matters!

  • @ilalfisto Why do you think that?

  • This is my favourite song in the whole wide world....& I can not find this recording anywhere but here :(

  • beautiful song. beautiful art.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting!

  • great cover, great art! - do you know who did it?

  • @louiseduvee No, not anymore. I found them through google search. You can try with "Tori Amos Painting Drawing" ect. and you should find some of the artist.

  • @frutiloom Thanks!

  • @louiseduvee Joni Mitchell

  • I would ask how is it that she moves me with every song every line.. even when the lines aren't "hers"? But lets face it once she plays them every word is hers..

  • Does anyone have Paula Cole's version?????????? thanks

  • Lovely.

  • Joni Mitchell's original version is beautiful but so is Tori's cover. Tori's emotion comes through in every song she sings. And Tori plays the piano so fantasticly...

    I love this a lot!

  • super si

  • Thank You, fruitloom.

  • @missanavidovic Nema na cemu :)

  • singer try to sing this song including Ms Mitchell but no one has grab me and sent me to heaven like CRISTINA BRANCO singing a case of you seek it out and see what i mean

    enjoy

  • Her piano playing is brilliant. I like this version.

  • great cover, keeps most of the original adding some emotional typical tori touch. she gives every song she covers something you hadn't ever figured before. great performer!

  • Where can I get this CD

  • I love Joni Mitchell, always have, she writes the most beautiful things. but i like this version of the song better because unfortunately, I just can't enjoy joni's version because it sounds shrill to my ears... others might enjoy it though and that's fine.

  • There's not much point comparing covers, but if they're any good, they somehow add to our appreciation of the original. There have been lots of good covers of this amazing song which (of course) Mitchell wrote herself. For me, the jazz versions don't work as well as you might expect, given Mitchell's own place in jazz. Tori's is beautiful, especially so because it's got the same feel as her best ballads - and her piano arrangement and playing are glorious.

  • did Joni Mitchell write this song herself? because it's pure poetry <3

  • Not as good as the kd lang cover, which is even better than Joni's original, but this is still wonderful. Ten or eleven years ago, my daughter was really into Tori, and I listened to her a lot. I still really love her music.

  • A cover isn't the original...that's the point.

  • Diana Krall's is best ever

  • It's a great song. Many bring something else to it within their interpretation. No-one can beat Joni's for me, but Diana Krall, Tori and even Prince gave it a shot. Never beat the original but they honour it maybe.

  • Actually, k.d.lang's cover of this song on the Hymns of the 49th Parallel album is pretty damn good also

  • Tori's cover is by far the best of this song. Joni is a terrific songwriter but only a mediocre ( although very distinctive) singer. Tori really does this song justice - even if she's not Canadian like Joni and Diana Krall.

This is as good or better than her cover of Famous Blue Raincoat - she must like Canadian songwriters. Diana's version sounds contrived and pretentious, despite her ability.

  • Diana's version sounds contrived and pretentious, despite her ability. *true.*

  • Not sure I liek this one. It's one of those songs I don't know why people try to cover, seeing as it's so specific and personal to the original singer. The line about Canada - it really only means something when Joni sings it . . .

  • i like tori amos a lot but for me, this cover of joni's song is way over-sung airy-fairy style (easy to do with such a gorgeous song)

diana krall does a cool version btw

  • I always love the original, and the orchestral version of Joni's.Think about it.Had it not been for Joni creating so much beauty,Tori might not have had the chance to stretch the song out with feeling, and with her amazing piano work.Joni's format at the time was an under 4 minute, sometimes under 3 minutes.Luckily,

Joni's "Blue" that gave us this gem also gave us "The Last time I saw Richard",a longer song.Which then gave us "The Judgment of the Moon and Stars".Joni Tori Awesome.

  • One of the best covers Tori ever did

  • My two favorite female songwriters. The honesty, integrity, and emotion they possess is unparalleled.

  • Absolutely beautiful version of one of my fav Joni Mitchell tunes. . .wonderful!!

Thanks for posting. . .great video! : )

  • I like Tori's version better than Joni's. That may be heresy to some, but It's my personal preference.

  • omg i love this version. I also prefer it to joni's. I meant to thumbs up but i hit down by accident :(

  • Wow Tori! This version is beautiful and is a lovely tribute to Mitchell. Both of you are such inspiring women. I love this song because it has a unique combination of love, pain, and truth. Love is work. I am going to learn this on guitar... Maybe someday it will be compared to such great influences and people will pointlessly argue about my version! Lol!

  • Aaah i've been dying to hear her do this <3 thankyou xxx

  • You've missed the point. It isn't a competition. Tori Amos did this cover because she loves Joni Mitchell and her songs - so this cover is a tribute and her own interpretation on the art. She covered it because she loves it, not because she's trying to be better.

  • @respectmichael : actually, I heard a great bootleg version of this, from a Tori Amos concert, where Tori specifically said, "I heard that Joni's been sick lately, so I want to do this for her" ... it was a tribute, a gift

  • This really is awesome- wondrous art, and the voice- somehow there's a little interpretation at the end that shows a bit more of the sound research. Excellent- I would never say Joni sucks, though. Her insight work and range is off the moon for wild!

  • Beautiful art..not just fan art...art!!! I love you lady.

  • Ok, She could have never get inspired to make this cover in the early 90's. Would that make someone more happier?

  • I don't see the point in coming here to argue who is the best between Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell. Joni Mitchell is a great songwriter and great singer and Tori Amos too and she is paying a tribute. SO why come here to fuss and fight? No Tori Amos is better! No it is Joni Mitchell. No wonder this world is in a mess everyone is arguing when they should be enjoying work of art!

  • My thoughts exactly. Its art. Everyones interpretation is different. Isnt that the point?

  • This is why I fell in love with this song....and Joni.

  • Joni Mitchell has a better range, and can use her stronger vocals. It isn't an argument, simply a fact. You shouldn't discredit Joni Mitchell, you may not like her voice much, but she is one of the most important recording artists of the twentieth century, and a clear influence on Tori. Now, you must learn that capitalizing things doesn't make it true, Joni Mitchell is factually a stronger singer.

  • the herb leonard fan arts are amazing. i studied them for an art project last year.

  • I remember that time you told me love is touching souls, well surely you touched mine. Joni Mitchell is incredible.

  • I have to first say that I am not really a big Tori Amos fan, but........I listened to this cover and thought she did such a beautiful job with her vocal style on this song. So much passion and really sung in a lovely tone, so sweet and lovely piano style. Really love Tori's cover!

  • Frutiloom, who did all the artwork? Some of this stuff is just absolutely amazing!!

  • this is such a beautiful song..Tori's voice always brings such a fragile and overly emotional feeling to any cover she does..and the lyrics are so moving.

  • fragility really highlights this version. I just love it. One could not but be blown away by a woman looking at you and singing these words

  • she sings the song like its hers. a wonderful honest rendition.

  • absolutely. love her variation with the new chord choice she employs during the chorus.

  • I don't thik that most of the artist doing covers LIKE to be compared with orignal. They do that cos they have their own vision of the song, or as tribute, respect... NOT because they think they could do it better. So, pls stop with "Joni is better" story. It says nothing to this wonderful song. As for Tori, we know she ALWAYS did covers (since she was 5 :) , Its her tradition and lots of them are very different then original.

  • Tori Amos has been compared to Joni Mitchell: she does not match Mitchell's vocal performance here. Like Mitchell,

she is a composer on piano.

  • I love this version of this song,it always gives me chills.

  • How, how can I touch the artist's who embedded this song, no , not Tori, though as amazing as she was, rather others, the visuals, the picture perfect artist's who captured the moment in which she, so like so many, tried to encapsulate, tried to perfect despite contemporary trivial artist's attempt to emulate despite the artist's beat...I only wish *I had thought of a case of you... it would be ingenious despite critical acclaim..".heaven forbid" such exchange...Take me for what I am"...

  • I love Tori Amos, but this is nothing like Joni Mitchell's song. I don't think it's as good, but you know...we each look for different things in songs, and this isn't what I like.

  • i have to say i agree. i too love tori and joni, but this song is simply mot suited to tori's voice. as a matter of fact, im going right to joni's version this instant.

  • I think it's just that Joni's voice is so much more powerful, more commanding. Tori's is intimate, but not built for such a powerful strong.

  • It's a cover, and a good cover isn't just a copy. That would be boring. A really good cover interprets and brings something new to the party. I think it's nice to have them both to enjoy. Check out Diana Krall's also - it's really lovely too! But I respect your opinion! :)

  • I don't think this is changed too much. It keeps the intimacy of the original, but changes the instrumentation. It's not so much a new song, just a new version of an old song. Some covers reinvent them, others just reuse them. I think this is number two.

But, that, again, is my opinion. Thanks, though, I appreciate a little debate here.

  • Where the heck did you get all the pictures? Gotta love redheads.

  • well.. google :)

  • wow

  • an old-time favourite

  • Nice, love the song :)
