they aren't banned, look it up. was scott stevens ever penalized for hitting guys like kariya and lindros in the head? no it was considered clean then and it's still clean now. the only difference is that now people are talking and thinking about banning head shots. head shots are banned in some junior hockey leagues, most international leagues and other minor leagues but not in the NHL.

he was penalized for deliberately interfering when booth passed the puck and was no longer carrying it, thus he was considered out of the play. if booth were still carrying the puck when richards hit him, i highly doubt they would have called a penalty and they certainly wouldn't have a called a head contact penalty because it doesn't exist in the NHL at least not now, but hopefully soon.

But in this case, it is a clean hit; the guy just got rocked, and that happens. Hockey is not a pussy sport, and every man playing in the NHL knows the risks they are taking while on the ice. i love the Flyersand Kapanen, but that was a clean hit.
and the Bergeron hit was an accident on Jones' part. Jones is already coming up for the hit and Bergeron puts his head down and turns his back. it's a shame he got hurt but this is a VERY physical game, shit happens. STOP WHINING AND BITCHING!

I'd rather have Sami Kapenan then Darcy Tucker. Better offensively, defensively and doesnt run his mouth as much. Watch most of richards goals this year [esp the shorthanded ones] you'll see Kappy involved somehow. Tucker needs massive ice time to show his effectiveness.
