  • I held it together until "Settle precious, I know what you're going through,

Cause ten mintues before you got here I was gonna jump too." I don't cry. I cried.

  • This song has saved my life more than once.

  • :( i still get tears when i hear dis :(

  • I'm going to record myself singing this to this boy who is going to commit suicide on Tumblr.

  • I always wonder if these guys realize how many lives they've saved with their music.

  • I'm all 142,275 of these views.

  • This song is pretty special to me. These lyrics are relatable to me.

Because when I first met my boyfriend, I was planning on suicide. We both got talking and soon I didn't want to do it anymore, he told me that he was also planning on suicide that night. I saved him and he saved me. We connected and fell in love and thought no more about suicide. We're still together and deeply in love after 1 year, and we plan to be together forever. I've found my soulmate. I love you Keegy baby. <3 Forever.

  • I can't even begin to explain what this song means to me. Thank you, Nick, for writing this. You will never know me...but you saved my life many years ago.

  • The singing is whiny, and the melody is forced. The lyrics are powerful, but the music doesn't compare, and that ruins the song for me. :(

  • @GypsyAugury Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whiny? Really, i just heard emotion spilling out. I love his singing, i sounds emotional, real, and powerful. Unlike many "popular" singers today.

  • @rachelshih1 Try 'The Sea is a Good Place to Think of the Future' by Los Campesinos!; it's heartbreaking without being so blunt about it.

  • i love when there are stories behind songs.. TSC is just amazing

  • T-T just got dressed 4 school xD

  • XD this song might help me get through my little emotions. 4 weeks of cutting still long way to go but I can hopfully. ^_^ song is the mist beautiful thing I've ever heard I was crying and laughing at the same time! Weird? Well screw ur thoughts :D cuz idc anymore!!! :) and I'm glad!!!

  • These lyrics are unbelievable....<3

  • Love this song but it hurts me a little bit to listen to it.

  • "You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it

No matter how unbearable this misery gets"

    Love these lyrics so much

  • is this the version from the album? i might be being dumb right now but some parts of it seem a little different

  • Why is it all the people we need to kill themselves are brimming with self confidence, and those that do are just decent people crushed under their negative influence?

  • The guy I love sent this to me last night..<3

  • so this song made me cry...the same thing happened with a friend mine i tried it but he jumped anyway. :(((

  • @newyorkerchick4life

Well thanks. I sure hope someone would care enough to stop me.

  • This song gives me chills. . .

  • I guarantee no one would stop me. No body likes me anyways. :I

    Oh well.

  • @MindlessChange69 Somebody does, trust me

  • @MindlessChange69 i guarantee you're wrong, there's always someone.

  • I wrote the chorus of this song on my converse!<3 ^_^

  • This song made me try to kill myself, I think it was suppose to do the opposite but people are different.

  • Is this a different version to the one on the album?

  • I absolutely love this song. I was super into it when i met a guy who is now my boyfriend :) Its my song for him :)

  • We all flirt with the tiniest notion

Of self conlusion in one simplified motion

You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it

No matter how unbearable this misery gets

  • I wonder if anyone would stop me.....

  • @TheCrazyAnni someone loves you! if anything let the song speek TO you... not at you.

  • @TheCrayonAndTheTeddy Aw (: thank you.

  • @TheCrazyAnni i would <3

  • @poopypooppoop1000 THAT MADE MY DAY. Awww ):

  • this is a different version then the one on the original album, where is this one from?

  • When I first heard this song I was semi unsure of the lyrics, ususally I can pick out the lyrics and meaning of the song right away but it took me a few good listens to realize what he was saying and trying to get across, love and chances always surpass the challenage at hand, don't always give up when an offer is handed to you, go with your feelings never just leap without knowing what you might be losing instead of gaining.

  • I wish they both had jumped:(

  • @TheMattwestmeyer But then this song wouldn't of been written :(

  • @TheMattwestmeyer What makes you wish for that?

  • @BoredomKills: I think that is the point of the song... She may have been "fat," "ugly," or "average-looking" by society's standards, but because she was vulnerable and ready to act on very real feelings, she was beautiful to him.

  • This is such a beautiful song with a beautiful story, and the chorus spoke to me at a time when I really, really needed to hear it. But sometimes I can't help but be a little cynical: If the song began "Enter fat girl" or "Enter ugly girl" or even "Enter average-looking girl", would he have felt so inclined to make her life (and his) worth living?

  • @BoredomKills0620 Why can't a fat, ugly, or average looking girl be beautiful to somebody? Why would he say "enter fat girl" when he doesn't see that when he looks at her.

  • @BoredomKills0620 by beautiful girl, he meant her soul. her heart. everybodys beatutiful :)

  • im a very happy person and i absolutely love this song.

  • Touching, really.

  • Amazing lyrics.

  • This song made my cry. It is so touching. Minutes before you got here I was gonna jump too. That is the line of lines. Everyone has been there at one moment of there life, and if they haven't, they're long past due. I wanna hug the singer!

  • Wow, i just fell in love with this song! <3 thx for posting! really!!!

  • I FINALLY FOUND THIS SONG!!! :D

My ipod only says "Track 4". :/

  • This is actually me and my girlfriend's first song. We've been together a bit over 3 years now. :) There's quite a sad story to why it's our song, but, I won't get into that. :P

  • Why the fuck are people calling this "emo"? And I'm not even talking about the fact that calling anything "emo" makes you look like a narrow-minded moron. This song's meaning is about saving someone from suicide. Last time I checked, you idiots classify "emo" as music about killing yourself and about how life sucks. You're contradicting yourselves by calling a song, that's about saving someone's life and reaching out to someone suffering from depression, "emo". So shut up you idiotic hypocrites.

  • @ShaveABelly logically no. I dont think spill is one of those bands that you can do the dislike bar reference. To amazing of a band for that.

  • <3 this song, made me speechless the first time I listened to it. The one line: "Settle precious, I know what you're going through,

Cause ten mintues before you got here I was gonna jump too"

That line means more to me ant any other line in any other song.

  • I love songs that are so emotional like this... It really reaches your heart and makes you feel. Thats why i love The Spill Canvas ^_^

  • sooo good brings back great summer memories and being in love

  • Absolutely amazing -3

  • God this song brings back memories...She showed it to me when we met. I feel grateful everyday she did. <3 It helped me and her....I listen to it to remind myself of some important things.

  • I had plans to die tonight...

  • But most of the black people in the hood would like to stab you.... repeatedly. Then make of with your shoes.

  • This song is tragically beautiful! I love it! <3

  • Minutes before you got here I was gonna jump too...

  • I absolutely LOVE THIS SONG!!! it has saved me in more ways imaginable more times than I remember and probably will again one day when I get to this point and need something to grasp to..... Thank you Spill Canvas for a beautiful song :P

  • I should have listened to you when you came out with this...seriously. sorry

  • idgaf. i like this song and all you disagreeing mother fuckers can suck my dick. go ahead dissaprove of me. :)

  • 5 people have HIV

  • Scratch that, I loved it, period. Lxxxx

  • I loved it. It was too long though. Lx

  • im not sad in anyway but this song is good

  • This song is so great.. if i make it on american idol ima sing this lmao

  • I am literally crying. This song is absolutely amazing and the lyrics really got to me<3

  • This is the first song i've listened to that has actually spoken to me and reached into my heart and affected me emotionally !

'You make it sound so easy to be alive

But tell me how am I supposed to seize this day

When everything inside of me has died '

  • @purpleflowr13 Finally! Someone who appreciates this song instead of saying it's 'emo'.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle I find thos song to be emo, but in the true sense.. It's emotional. It's true. He's singing from his heart and soul, which, is in deed very emotional :) I love this song so much.. It's touching in all the right ways.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle Emo? EMO?! PFT SCREW THAT, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and for me that's saying something.

  • did u guys know that the singers little brother made this song put the little brother was going to college so the singer did this song put gave rights to his little brother thats bad ass shit

  • emo is a shortend version of the genre emocore.

  • just putting this out there... emo is a genre of music, no a stereotype.

  • @TomasJames93 Emo is just short for "emotion" it doesnt go further than that. In any genre, if the song consists of an emotional lyrical base then it's considered "emo". Not a genre... Just sayin

  • such a good song.

  • hey well fuckin understand this and make sure u get it right in ur head! u wouldnt understand shit about being emo and depressed u have no idea how it feels! U R NOT MANY PEOPLE U R ONLY 1 FUCKING PERSON GET THAT!? ok so dont try to fuckin think u know everything there is to know about being depressed and scared people like us might be so called suicidal or emo or watever ok does it matter to u probably not but who gives a shit people hate their lives & and watz done to them so STFU ty to xxpurp

  • @pitbull567837 you're awesome :D

  • My favorite song by them ever...he sings this song with everything hes got

  • mhm

  • not a big fan of this style of music, but im diggin on this song. the lead singer puts his fucking heart into it.

  • I just hope that through all the emo-bashing and bullshit arguements going on about sterotypes and definitions of a genre, people realize that this song probably stopped someone from taking their own life.

  • so much complexity in such simplicity, beautiful

  • One of my favorite songs.

my roommate and I use to blast the spill

as we got ready for class and work. <33

  • The Spill Canvas is so amazing. This song can bring me to tears. Beautiful, breath-taking song. The lyrics are just fabulous.

  • In awe...

  • This song is amazing and the lyrics are brilliant.

  • I absolutely LOVE this song. It is beyond beautiful in every note. :)

  • @Rebeckymaboberz What you explained at the beginning of your post is what we call Poetry, which has in many cases in our generation been turned into song lyrics. Ahh the beauty of words.

  • This is the best song I've heard in a long time. The Spill Canvas<3

  • I can only offer a few words to sum up this song.

    Truly beautiful, touching music.

  • Defintion of Emo=Emotional.

  • @Soccergirl2397

it is actually a style of music typically characterized by melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics. Melodic guitars, varied rhythms, and deeply personal. Although many bands rejected the term, "emo" it stuck nonetheless. There was this weird moment, like when people started calling music 'grunge,' where you were using the term even though you hated it.

  • If you cut yourself for attention, or because you think its cool, i hope you slip and cut your throat instead. it is a terrible, mean thing to do, its pretty much mocking the people who actually need help and do it for a means of escape, people who are addicted, to the sensation and the realease, and dont call themselves emo, are generally okay, need help, but i understnad what their going through, if you cut yourself for attention and pathetic sympathy, your an idiot, and i hate you.

  • instead of dying, living with me <3

  • This song just saved my life.

  • Thumbs up if you think the people asking for thumbs up below me are fucking stupid for asking for thumbs up.

  • thumbs up if you agree that the guy who commented me b4 me is just now seeing this therefore he must have been under a rock all this time lul

  • Thumps up if the first time hearing this song you downloaded it right away to your ipod

  • i was in this situation years back and i had someone same my life with a phone call... it really does tell people that there is hope

  • Amazing. That's all I have to say.

  • <3 my friend just tried to commit suicide, this song has been on loop for an hour. It is my coping mechanism for this situation...

  • This song is Emo for Emotional . . . Emotional is good music to me . Any song that the artist pours his emotions into adds to make a good song

  • i didint like it until the end good song emo tho

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE THIS SONG...No one cares if people call it emo or whatever its a stereotype go away forget the subject learn about the word emo then change what you say...THIS SONG IS FUCKING AWESOME.

    NS\OANIGOAI\NGOAN\GILOVETHEUPLOADERAFNAWNFABGIbuGBN\GB\AGB

  • i don't see how this is "emo" it about SAVING someone's life with love....

  • @DaniBIndustries exactly! its beautifull!!!! not the steriotypical emo :P

  • <3 ,,

  • Alright guys. Stop this discussion on all that emo stuff, please. This whole song sounds very emo, indeed, but this does not mean that this is a bad song. Just listen to the music and if you don't like it, don't post those silly comments like "whoa fucking emo-song" but close this window. It really is fucking annoying.

  • @Lawman2210 What IS emo? To me, It's a stereotype. A fad. I hate when people use that word. This song isn't emo. It's about depression and suicidal thoughts, not wearing black to look angsty

  • @XXsmswacXX So you say emo is wearing black to look angsty? :) if you say so, it contradicts what you just said before... but never mind. :) and emo as such is no stereotype, but this song related to the term emo is a stereotype.

  • @Lawman2210 I'm just trying to say that not everyone who self harms or suffers from depression is "emo". Emo is a style. just like preppy or sporty is. However people connect emo with depression.

  • emo emo emo blablabla why cant people just enjoy and amazing song by an amazing

its about one person on edge wanting to end his life but in al reality he saves his own life but a total stranger its an amazing song

  • this song is beautiful

    i love it

  • This is my Boyfriend and I song!!!!!!!!! :']

Screw all of you who think that were crazy for having this as our song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my boyfriend to death. <3

  • You don't have to be sterotyped as 'emo' to enjoy this beautiful song. It's saying more than two people struggling with suicide. It's talking about hard times. Everyone has hard times, and most people think at least once or twice about just giving up. That doesn't mean you are depressed. That's why it says, "we ALL flirt with the tiniest notion..." I guess what I am saying, this song is relatable for all of us.

  • What I love is people come on here listen to the song, and then comment about it. Don't fucking listen to it if you don't like it. Go fucking listen to your honky tonk bullshit or something.

  • cutting and suicide are DEPRESSION.

emo is a freaking style of music and a stereotype.

    get the hell over it.

cutting, depression, and suicide are very serious problems.

they existed long before "emo" was ever a word used to describe such things.

if you found out your 60 year old grandmother had been cutting herself for years and attempted suicide,

would she be "emo" to you?

    didn't think so.

    grow the hell up children.

  • @theworldatlargex407 as someone struggling with depression and all the crap that comes with it, i absolutely love you for posting this.

  • @PiratesFangirl thanks. (:

people these days are really too judgmental. i can totally relate to what you're going through, and it's really not something to joke about. man.. people suck.

  • I get teary eyed every time I hear this. Reminds me of my friend who committed suicide. thanks for posting!!

  • This was their best album. The album after (can't remember, didn't really enjoy it nearly as much) was NOTHING compared to this. I love their acoustic stuff. Not the more "amped up" songs. Meh. :(

This band breaks my heart over and over. I love them so much. <3

  • @xxPurpleTurtle. Amazing explanation. Lol. I'm sick of that shit too, this was me and my girlfriend's song..It fits too perfect. :P

  • @kellnath1 Shut up you fucking twat!! I'm sick of people calling self harm, suicide and depression emo!! Emo is a STEREOTYPE, the same as people saying that black people in hoods are gonna stab you. This song is about 2 people who are depressed wanting to commit suicide but he saves her, not about the stereotype emo. Some people call themselves emo they like the style and music and if they think they have to cut to be emo then they are really stupid. I hope you understand now.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle

yes and plus emo music doesn't even mean "emotional" it's "emotive".

so people need to get some things straight. :)

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony When did I say this?? And I don't cut myself and I'm not emo. And since when did all this emo shit have to do with a good song?

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony You don't evan know me

  • @xxPurpleTurtle I think TheEpitomeOfIrony doesn't want to change that soon. Hopefully.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle but i would like to change that soon

  • @xxPurpleTurtle You ruined an awesome comeback with "You don't even know me". Come on, dude, you're smarter than that.

  • @ItsSomeDeadGuy Spafe.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle I'm sorry what

  • @ItsSomeDeadGuy Spafe.

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony haha i consider myself emo but ive never cut and im the happiest person you will ever meet nuthing ever gets me down.. i dress it and listen to the music and hang around with other emos. So how is that stereotype true?

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony haha i consider myself emo but ive never cut and im the happiest person you will ever meet nuthing ever gets me down.. i dress it and listen to the music and hang around with other emos. So how is that stereotype true?

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony You cut yourself...then you just cut yourself.

Emo is a way to stereotype people just like calling someone a prep or skater or punk.

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony cutting yourself doesn't make you emo. cutting yourself makes you an idiot.

  • @TheEpitomeOfIrony

yea... life is hard. but dicks like you make it harder... and you NEVER kno what someone is going through.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle

you are awesome. just throwing that out there.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle Cheer up emo kid

  • @xxPurpleTurtle emo is short for emotional. it is not a stereotype.... TSC is totally emo, but not because they talk about suicide. they are emo because they talk about emotions. this song is more about being a reason for someone to live, he becomes her reason to stay alive one more night. it's saying that you SHOULDN'T kill yourself. "we all flirt with the tiniest notion/of self conclusion in one simplified motion/you see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it"

  • @WowUrFcknHxC THANKYOU.

this song isnt saying that suicide is great, its saying that we flirt with the idea.

your not supposed to kill yourself, but we all flirt with the idea of it, he is the reason.

  • @xxPurpleTurtle Finally someone that feels the same way as I!! Agreed!!

  • @xxPurpleTurtle

    getting angry only encourages them

i love that this shits emotional as fuck.

you wont embrace the stereotype, but you must accept it.

otherwise ill just enjoy my cheese with your whine

  • @msenslen1 so?

  • @Medeathwolf you have to realize that he was there to jump as well..to negatives that cancelled each other out and became one..amazing is it not?

  • They killed this song live. this actually happened to one of their friends

  • i love this song <3 x

  • I'm positive me and my boyfriend could relate to this song.

  • best album by spill canvas!

  • best song in the entire world.

  • man this song ill tell u is just something truely amazing

  • sad. yet i love this song. :] it's lovely.

  • @helloreneexo how is this sad? to me its kinda like a love story :)

  • @keracked the sad part is that she is resorting to suicide in the first place and if he wasn't there to stop her she would have leaped. but, yes, this is kinda like a love story. but you never hear the end. she just took his offer, if she wasn't proven by him she would jump. so truly you don't know if she dies at the end. thats why it's sad.

  • @Medeathwolf i get were your coming from, truly, but she does take his offer, n since they were both about to jump, they wud probably do good if u think about it, cuz wen ur heart is broken u think nobody is as hurt as you, but in this song sombody who is just as hurt crosses ur path n its sweet irony in a way. becuz if i was bout to commit suicede the only thing tht cud stop is somebody who knew excatly wat i was feeling. so it may seem kinda sad, but its reli about second chances and love.

  • LOve This SOnq (:*

  • Song lyrics are amazing. <3

    I love it. :)

  • This song raises the hairs on my penis... ;D
