So he implemented a scene where Otacon gives Snake a device that displays real time information. Over his left eye, Snake now bears a futuristic eyepatch, whilst Big Boss wears an eyepatch. It's supposed to represent that Snake was the next generation.

BB gets an eye shot out, betrayed by the government, burned alive completely, buried under a building twice, becomes brain dead, gets put back together with Liquid And Solidus's body parts and still has the balls to accept Solid Snake as a man and his son.
