1) That 50mph for lions comes from the Guinness Book of World Records, and it is during a charge. You know what a CHARGE is? Running at you in a straight line after you ignored their repeated warnings to back the hell away from their territory. Otherwise, when hunting prey they average something like 36-40mph.

2) There are way too many animals that can hit speeds in the 40-50mph range. Where is the onager? Ostrich? Grey wolf?

@iapalategi Not all antelopes and cervids are fast. Common Eland, Greater Kudu, and Moose aren't that fast. And Greyhounds are not faster than African Wild Dogs, they are in fact equally slow. And 4 of the animals on this list are those things you mentioned except Cervids (Antelopes: Grant's Gazelle, Wildebeest, Thomson's Gazelle; Equid: Quarterhorse). Research it.

And I guess that the Dama Gazelle and the Sand Gazelle are much faster than the Wild Hare and the Lion, perhaps the Dama Gazelle is second after the cheetah, but I can't find a reliable source. Several different accounts of people chasing foxes while riding horses have reported the foxes pacing themselves then accelerating away from the horses, enough so that they the distance increase even after they pushed their horses for everything to keep up. While this is including riders, it's impressive the fox can do this with it's little body and faaaar smaller stride than the other animals.

Running in the desert (road) with the heat i could imagine it being 20-30% harder on covering distance so, it was just incredable

Just got to remember, all of the speeds mentioned in the video plus the idea of humans being better at long distance is all relying on assuming the animals are doing their best, without knowing 100% what they could do. Some, like a wolf, or horse, if taught to pace themselves could very likely beat humans on the distances/ times you're talking about.

the numbers are a little bit off. The fastest ever recorded speed of a pronghorn is 61 mph but they have gone much faster than that. I was just in Wyoming and a tour guide said that pronghorn like to race cars. She had actually had an experience when a pronghorn was running with her car. She was going 66mph and it ran by her at a much faster speed.

But the video doesn't seem very correct. ;-) I believe the greyhound should have his place. I don't believe for a second that the red fox is faster than a whippet. I've seen whippets chasing a fox, I assure that they have no trouble trouble at all, chasing him down. The speed the wild dogs are given here isn't correct at all.
