I remember the night they aired her audition...I said she reminded me of Melissa O'Neil, who had won Canadian Idol the year before (both in looks and voice)...in the end, she well surpassed Melissa in both.

All those American soccer moms and girl teeny boppers wanted Hicks because of the fun factor... on TV! Her winning it would have benifited her career more than Taylor Hicks (although Chris Daughtry is more successful than either one of them). Stupid voters. I wish she participated in season 6 (winner Jordin Sparks) because all of them were mediocre and Katharine Mcphee would have wiped the floor/competition and won it all!

Wow..amazing...Katharine is just so wonderful, and it just gets me SO much when Ryan says, "thats all it takes, one superstar in one city" because Kat is that one star, she is going to be SO famous! Everything about her is wonderful. Watching this, the begining of her journey, is one of the most inspirational things. It makes me cry every time! Kat sounds great anywhere at anytime! She is that one star and she deserves to be. Watching such an incredible star being born, wow!

I totally luv her voice!!So unique and brilliant. When they said that she had a voice tacher as a mom, I thought she would be more broadway like or opera-ish...but she has her own style. BRILLIANT is the word and she is very beautiful! I wish she could've won the compitition!

Definitely my favorite Idol audition ever. Yes...I like it even better than Kelly's At Last, which is saying ALOT for me. I hope Kat decides to sing this again someday, the entire version. She does a very unique rendition.

OMG! I remember when I watched that episode, and she came on. As soon as she opened her mouth when she started singing until Simon stopped her, I just had chills running up and down my back. From that time on, I've had the McPheever. I've always wanted her to win. If this competition was based on talent, she would've won. Well, I would've liked her to, but there was a chance that Paris or Chris could've won, too! Taylor won because of popularity.
