Why is everyone always looking for a hidden and deep meaning in every song they write? What's the point? Is it really that hard to just enjoy a great song by a great artist?
@1:14 "What is it that makes me just a little bit queasy?" That's a reference to Afternoons and Coffeespoons. I've seen this video like 10 times and only just noticed that
It's all about how you deal with the weirdness that life might give you from time to time. The blue haired boy was happy about his hair until he thought about what other people would think about it. It's a song about perspective.
@joesphineIsrael - - Well, he worked for 7 days...THEN he realized, "D*mn, I'm tired. I'm going to make a day just for being a loafer...7 days was just too much for me." It wasn't meant to be 100% Biblical...it's just a song they made up...I mean...you would have to be pissed off about the picnics part too...and the whole song...if that's your attitude.
I always saw this song as an explanation for the fallacies and contradictions that exist in the Bible and within the Christian religion as a whole. Allow me to elaborate on that thought: It was never God's idea to have a day to worship, but a day to relax. It was the people, and their curiosity, that forced him to sit around answering questions on that day. IE the institution of church, and possibly even the Bible itself (and the stories within it) are only there to satisfy human curiosity.
I think Its about not using god as a prayer bank for every little problem that life gives us. The boy is innocence pulling back the curtain of human dirt that soils religion. and thats comming from an agnostic lol
it means that we cant just sit around an wait for a god to do evrything for us that we have to find our own anwsers and help our selve befor god will help us
This song is about the wife never being satisfied, you do everything for her and she's still bitching. I got no answers for my wife when she torments. Just give me a freakin' day to relax.
I think the "key" is in the lyric about the blue-haired boy. He wakes up with blue hair and thinks it's great, but, is criticized for it by peers/family/society. God has created all of us with gifts/talents and we need to trust them. He shuffles his feet after giving the "gift" to allow us the opportunity to develop them. We need to be true to what he created in us and not be allowed to be (1) influenced by charlatans and (2) stop asking God for everything! He gave it within you to do!
@YourFaceWillDie468 I think it's deeper then that. I think it means people need to stop looking for religion and devine forces for every answer to life. They can't answer everything, and we need to have our own minds.
Because what the people are doing are nowhere near being a "true Christian" Saturday is the Sabboth. Honor the commandments. Do not follow pagan rituals...Christmass, Holloween, Easter, etc...
There will be a time when another doctrine is taught. Road to paradise is small. Path to destruction wide.
It's a 100% success rate for those who practice it. Everyone else who believes that they are "Christian" are not Christian so they are not failing at it. How can you fail at something you're not even doing?
This song got a lot of airplay in early '94. I love the keyboard at the end of this song (studio/CD version), hard to believe this is what was played on the radio compared to today. This song is very beautiful yet sad, for some reason.
It's impossible to read too much meaning into this great song. Brad was a double-major in English and Philosophy, and he probably put a lot of deep complexity in it that none of us will understand.
But it's very enjoyable, and the mixture of deep thought and his 18-wheel voice is completely unique.
Listen to the song if you like it. If you like or agree with what they are saying in the song great! If not, deal with it or feel free to debate it. I think this song is awesome. I don't care much for the video really. the image in my head works better for me. This whole album is incredible. I personally really find many of the lyrics to be impressive. Swimming In Your Ocean is a really good song that so many don't understand. It's really quite simple to understand though.
For sure His disciples asked Him millions of questions while He was on earth, but the answer comes when you accept Jesus, He will open your eyes, and unveil the Truth that is in the Bible, with revelation, that' ll bring you confidence, wisdom and happiness.
there was always hidden messages in what God was teaching in his parables.. it was the men and women themselves to interpret it into their own lives and utilize it wisely
I don't believe in "God" either, it is just something people cling to when they feel like they can't do it by themselves. I stand on my own two feet and cling to the other thing real..... "Me" People can still have love for others without having to believe in something that has long been dead and should stay that way.
I don't believe in "God" either, it is just something people cling to when they feel like they can't do it by themselves. I stand on my own two feet and cling to the other thing real..... "Me"
REligion subsits on ignorance. One person don't understand some thing(thus ignores it) and then turn to religion to find explanations and aswers. It's that simple. Some just live in fear of sin and hell and won't live their lives. I dont feel any bothered by religious ppl, as long as they dont bother trying to convince me anything. But myself here as decided to always seek the truth in reason and live life without fear. Ethic and moral need no religion, and these are the only limits I abide by.
A really phantastic song from an even more phantastic album by one of the most enjoyable bands EVER! I have seen them once live on TV and it made me feel like a huge family between the band and the fans! I also love the different styles of music they made on their albums! Really awesome band! Thanks for posting this little "treasure" here on youtube! :-)
Why does such a great piece of music have to suffer from such retarded religion vs. science debate? Can't you people just let each have their own believes and enjoy the music?
@KorppiX The reason is because music can draw more emotion then anything else and emotion is tied into memory and everyones memory is different. Some have had religion beat into their brains and some have had science. No one really thinks for themselves anymore.
...you guys are so funny...all you speak about is Religion, at no point does God or Jesus Christ require us to be Religious...it fact just the opposite, God is Love...perfect Love....all he asks is that we as humans reach out to him, and be truthful...God Does the rest! Christ even tells us that, ...if you have faith, that of a mustard seed, you can all move mountains... You can bicker all day about Religion, but you can't debate the truth, to know God is to Love God, all it takes is Faith!
You can't move a mountain with faith. No matter how much 'faith' you have, nothing miraculous will happen. You can keep praying over and over again until something happens by coincidence, and then chalk it up to devine intervention, that's all. God isn't love. The same God you speak about apparently wanted people to stone disobedient teenagers and anyone who engaged in any type of work on a Sunday. Don't be so naive. Your God was invented by very primitive men.
And to clarify, I mean you can keep praying over and over for plausible things to happen until they do by coincidence. Pray for something that is absolutely impossible and you rule out having the coincidental event occurring. Prayers are never answered.
If there is a god why does he let bad things happen to good people? I lost my faith in god being responsible a long long time ago and I'm a little bit frustrated with him.
@howardb02 i had the same question long time ago,, well, i been reading the bible few times trough my life and god doesn't do anything bad to us . it's we, as humans what we harm each other,
read the bible the answers are there, im very sure you'll find your answers ,like i did ,good luck
Before christ came people who died were put in a sort of holding place that was next to hell. It was called Abrahams busom and it held every one who didn't go to hell. But there was a large invisible barrier that none could pass thru between hell and Abrahams busom. This is all in the bible but the book it is in I do not know. Old testement tho.
Thumbs up if you miss the Crash Test Dummies, the early 90s, CDs, late night infomercials, Conan O'Brien when he sucked so much he was good, flannel shirts, grunge, cell phones with attenas attached to your car, wearing a wristwatch, reading a book to look something up, videos on MuchMusic, baseball before the strike, gas under 50 cents a litre, going to a show to see a movie, less tv stations, Clinton in the White House, kids not wearing jeans lower than their asses, and a simpler life.
Who keeps fiddling around with the youtube videos? This video has the volume levels lowered by about half. In the "Afternoons and Coffeespoons" video, it has some of those weird visual aids like a question mark, and the word "Catheter".
THIS song brings me back, wow i heard it and a FLOOD of the 90's smastd me in the face. thank you for putting this song up here, so many thing we forget with time..
Everyone does realise that this song is pointing out how ridiculous the idea of god is? By the looks of some comments, people seem to think that this is a religious song.
Jesus in this film will be played by saw. Seriously though that Jesus is freaky looking, I could just hear the dear belefontanes voice in the dark theater " He came from Bethlehem, no one saw him coming untill it was too late, he came for your soul, Jesus is Jesus in Jesus Rated R!"
for all you haters.....God's a big boy. he doesn't need you to defend him. he doesn't need you to kill on his behalf ...he can do that fine all by himself. so shut the fuck up mindless sheep
@laughingledger However, if all religions had been embodied as ONE religion, then it would that all those religious people would gladly all be worship God.
this band is atheist...i like them before but now after hearing this song...oh i cant believe they are like this...for those people who dont believe that there is GOD it's time for you to take a step and know about our creator....
Yea that is what I have heard, and apparently also the meaning of the song MMM MMM is about how religion makes you do crazy things and it is worse than being abused. In this song though I can't even understand what he is saying.
@usbikobeh You never know, I believe in a god of some form but i am not deciding any religion or am all to sure because i don't turn the light on until i step into the room.
@3liteX you can choose whatever religion you want as long as you believe that there is a God...God is a light that always shines for us in times of good and bad...HIS LIGHT will never be out...you dont have to turn HIM on, you just believe in HIM coz HE will be your light when youre in the darkside of life...
@usbikobeh Everything is because it is, i'll find out if there is a god when i get there, turning a light on until i step in the room i mean i wont choose a religion ill just believe what i want and find out if any of its true once i die and go to heaven or where ever people go.
@Monscent lol! you cant recognize a voice between a male and a female? if GOD is speaking to his prophets without showing HIS face to them well im sure they will recognize him through HIS voice.. if you listen to a radio and there's a new song played on air for example like this crash test dummies band. you mean you will ask or have a doubt in your mind if the singer is a boy or a girl....lol! mm, mm, mm, mm, mm. once...lol! what kind of question is this? dont be like a hypocrite...k!
@usbikobeh Actually, God often showed his face to his prophets, although when God speaks, he does so through the Holy Ghost, so the message is recognizable as Gods voice, in the heart.
@niaj4 if U ask me, then it shud be..im not here forcing all you people out there who dont believe in but im just reminding everyone that there is really a GOD...then if you want evidence then read the BIBLE or hear a mass...as simple as that...
@niaj4 Read the bible, or ask an honest person who has. See what they say. Then you choose to believe it or not. But yeah, I guess going to hell is a consequence. getting to heaven is about accepting Jesus Christ. Cause we're all born sinners, and the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ, that's why he's called our "Saviour", and the reason he was sacrificed on the cross.
@KyleSurette13 I think the Bible is full of wisdom because of its message of love and tolerance. Any concept of hell or sacredness however is a symbol and is quite antipedagogical IMO ; when an idea is beautiful or makes sense, I find it much more noble to try and convince people through intelligent, consensual conversation than by scaring them into that idea. As much as I respect your beliefs, I tend to find waving around the ideas of heaven and hell as an argument a bit condescending. Peace !
@niaj4 I respect your beliefs also. I use to think the excact same thing, actually. However, I've watched documentaries on people who actually based away, and came back... and all their stories are similar. And they do infact talk about a Hell. I know someone from my area who died, he was never into religion, and when he came back, he was scared. And it completly changed him.
@KyleSurette13 "Getting to heaven is about accepting Jesus Christ." So not only are people born into sin, but really, most people in the Middle East and remote islands in the Pacific are born into HELL simply because they'll never learn the name Jesus Christ, much less what he stood for. That's the problem with this thought pattern. Apparently, Christianity isn't an equal opportunity religion.
It's ideas like this that lead me to leave the church and religion and enjoy the life I live now.
@heashon2000 I've always wondered what happens if a person was never introduced to the whole bible concept, and accepting Jesus. Maybe Jesus enters your heart regardless? Idk, but I do strongly believe it's all real. And in the bible it did say " The only way to Heaven is through me (Jesus)"
@KyleSurette13 OK, so how can you say the "Bible is full of wisdom because of its message of love and tolerance" when the ONLY way into Heaven is through Christ. That doesn't sound very tolerant or loving to me. It also sounds like the few 100 million (or possibly a billion or two) people who died before Christ was born got dealt a pretty bad hand.
You seem like a pretty nice person and I don't want to bad mouth your religion, but I just can't see how people keep buying into this concept.
@heashon2000 Honestly, idk what happened to the people, before Christ. Maybe God had mercy on them regardless. Or maybe they just went to hell? Idk. Or maybe those souls are yet to be rescued upon Jesus' return. There are always questions like this that we don't know. The reason I think they were never mentioned is because they don't apply to us whatsoever.
@KyleSurette13 So, I guess if you're one of the people who don't apply to "US" [please define who that is], you're shit outta luck.
Doesn't make sense and certainly doesn't sound very merciful.
The fact that there are so many idk's involved takes away from the relevancy of the Bible. If going to Heaven or Hell was at stake, and God is truly the deliverer of salvation, he/she would have made things like this very clear to us humans. The Bible is one of the bureaucracies keeping man from God.
@heashon2000 Maybe it does explain it somewhere. I don't know everything about the bible. Idk much, tbh. I think you'd need to ask someone who studies it these questions.
@KyleSurette13 til the coming of jesus there was no mention of hell, and you got in regardles of what you did as long as you asked forgiveness for sins. think of jesus like a patch for heaven, an update. afterall the way i see it god made the galaxy, and while im not christian or catholic or anything like that, i have beliefs, that the milky way is gods created land, and hes part of an order, of gods, ruling the whole of the universe, and seperate dimensions. so hell before jesus didnt exsist.
@liukang911 Having you explain things in a more "modern" way, is much easier to understand. Thank you. So in other words, before Christ, if you didn't get into heaven, what would happen? Would you remain within your body to rought/wait for a proper judgement? Or were you completly wiped out? (Which I didn't think was possible for a soul to be wiped out, due to it not being at all like a physical body) I read something about the second coming on christ, and taking the souls who were waiting?
@KyleSurette13 ...two things, first i shouldnt be usin my brothers account for this, 2nd, if you didnt get in, you sat outside waiting, til he A- decides to let you in, B- you ask for forgiveness and get in, or c- come to an agreement of some sort IE: reincarnation. consider jesus a patch i've already said but it was to fix the gates being so crowded.ther is your bug jesus repaired. though it kinda sucks, basically its now, follow my rules or be tortured forever. not really divine if you ask me.
@KyleSurette13 People that died before Christ came to earth either went to be with the Lord or to hell, same as today. The 16th chapter of Luke talks about this. People before Christ didn't fully understand the concept of hell, that's why Jesus talked more about hell than heaven. As for people that have never heard the name Jesus Christ, this does not mean they can't be saved. People are judged according to the light they are given, and Jesus is that light. The beginning of Romans explain this.
@jesstipton Today people are more educated and information is available that never was before. Today we can buy books that point out all the errors, contradictions and even false prophecies in the bible. If people can get to the point where they use their common sense, logic and reason then they will find that religion is pretty much bullcrap. people need to examine and question their faith FROM THE OUTSIDE and they will find the truth that no religion is correct. Lose your religion. Wake up.
@Gayfreewill You are probably expecting some big debate from me, but I just don't feel like it. I love you brother, God loves you, and if you're such an open-minded person, why do you get on youtube just to trash people?
@jesstipton I have no hate in my heart for others , only love. I just feel really bad tht religion has smashed that love between brothers and sisters and family, between nations and so on. Religious beliefs you know have really created a mess of this world.
I am a person that now throws away things that don't work. Christianity does not work and for those who think it does for them they are under a delusion. They always make excuses for god when their religious view does not come thru for them
@Gayfreewill ever consider that something that works for one person doesn't have to work for another? I'm christian but i don't expect the entire world to believe exactly what i do. everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.
@Gayfreewill I am a gladly devoted christian and I do still believe that I make my own mistakes, I need to forge my own path in this world. Please do not slander my religion because you either choose not to understand why we Christians believe what we do, or you do not believe what I and my fellow brothers and sisters do. People twist religion to make it fit their desires. That is an unforgivably attribute of HUMANKIND, not religion. Worshiping god, MY god is not a terrible thing. Peace
@002RC Being an ex-christian i am fully aware of what and why you believe it. I am aware of the "high" the religion gives it's followers. I have been there and done it. The only difference is i became educated and learned that it is a grand delusion and that the human mind is so incredibly gullible. Let's face it, christianity does not add up. If you took the time to examine the faith from the outside you would see that too. But you wish to remain in your delusion and that's fine. I know it.
@Gayfreewill I do not get a fuckin "high" I practice my religion because I believe it's what makes me a better man and quite honestly I am sick and tired of people slamming it into the ground. Ya so what if Christianity dosent make sense. Neither does the theory of evolution. Here, I'll prove evolution wrong to the whole world, HOW DID THE FIRST LIFEFORMS COME INTO EXISTENCE? Perfect environment temperatures, pressure and atmospheric pressure created something living? Sounds like spontaneity
@002RC Should christians use the "F" word? Ask your preacher or ask god tonight when you pray.
I slam religion because it deserves to be slammed like all drug use should. Religion is a drug and like all the others it impairs your thinking process.
Your evolution argument is non-intelligent. SHould I ask you who created god? There is no god as we have been led to believe. Man created God in man's own image and not the other way around.
@Gayfreewill combustion to me, and if I remember my science classes correctly, SCIENTIST disproved spontaneous combustion. So suck on that. I study other things then my own religion because people bring them up. I am educated, so back the fuck off and don't try to beat me mentally, I said people twist religion for there own beliefs, fuckin shame. I think though that you are the ignorant one though because YOU GO OUT OF YOUR WAY to try and disprove my beliefs.
@002RC Oh my my, such a good example you are. I see you don't understand the bible because a true christian would not reply like that. Go repent to the teddy bear in your room. See if it replies or listens. God is your Teddy Bear. You can talk to it all you want he ain't listening.
If God acts like he's not there then treat the prick like he's not there.
You religious folks are the dumbest folks on the planet. Universe too.
@Gayfreewill "You religious folks are the dumbest folks on the planet. Universe too."
Is that the "love" for your fellow man you mentioned? Again, were the people I mentioned "the dumbest folks on the planet"? How about the Dalai Lama? Walt Disney? Gandhi? *Every president*? These lists are easy to find.
You atheist fundamentalists honestly scare me more than any other fundamentalists at this point. You act smarter than everyone, and, like you with God, I see zero evidence of it. Zero.
@fractalchez 1st, nowhere did i say i was an atheist. I just don't beieve in the God man created. aka "Man created God in his own image" and no visa versa. Our whole concept of God is greatly flawed and the bible has not even a clue because that is man creating god in mans image. Hopefully you get that. I believe in "something" but it is not the god religions have created, no way.
@Gayfreewill -continued- The people you mentioned may find "comfort" in their religion just as others do in other religions. It depends basically where you are born which should give you a clue that it is all about cultural conditioning and exposure.
As a child finds comfort and talks to dolls and teddy bears, "it works for them" and they find comfort and can imagine that doll being it's friend. But in all actuality and reality it is not listening. We humans have great imaginations.
@Gayfreewill I am under no delusion about what I do in a typical day and I have no question as to who I follow, GOD, NOT A MAN IN A SUITE, and who is to say that your not the one who is incredibly gullible? At least my traditions have been around for thousands of years, your trusting a group of random people that formed a circle jerk with each other and spewed their shit on each other into what are accepted THEORIES today. At least I have a prophet who visited Earth.
@002RC Not to take a side either way, but the birth of Christianity occured somewhere in the 1st century, meaning the religion /doesnt/ have thousands of years of traditon, by definition alone it could only have just over a thousand years of tradition. Other religion predate Christianity and survive to this very day, those religions that do could make the clame you just made. Anyway have fun in your pointless argument with the Gay (man/woman?) there on a virtual web site.
@Gayfreewill My lord teaches me to love all humans, Dumbasses like you included. And I try. What do you do, you attack me! AND ON YOUTUBE! Your pathetic... As well as this for a parting though. If you get through one of those postings, laugh and start coming up with a rebuttle, read through them all, and if it's something stupid like "i like how you think I took the time to read them." It probably means you've got nothing. I don't care if you don't share my beliefs, rot in hell for all I care.
@Gayfreewill And yes I am aware that it is not spontaneous combustion, I was just thinking bout your head when I wrote it, Before you start yelling random shit to make an attempt to save yourself from everything that I have said, it's called spontaneous generation. cheers, look forward to your reply
@issanel Of course that goes with out saying. I know Muslims are the worseer religion. They are a sick-minded lot and christians are not as bad but bad enough.
@Gayfreewill Ok, i will give you that. I am not technically a Christian because they left the concept of G-d and the bible. But there are some good ones out there, hopefully one day you will get to meet them.
@Gayfreewill religion is not the problem, it's people thinking they know better than everyone and trying to force their opinion on others. So you don't like religion, that's cool. But don't think it just doesn't work. It might not work for you but for many it does so get of your high horse please. It's people not respecting another's opinions that drives this world apart. People like you.
@fredagul You are under a delsuion that it works for you. The you hit rock bottom in your life as a christian then if you have a lick of sense you will re-evalute your religious belief that god takes care of you like he cares for the birds, and that if you pray he will answer, Not so. My religious fanatic sister at age 55 lost her very religious husband to suicide, lost her home, job etc. God is not a good father who cares at all. She still thinks so though. That's deluded.
@Gayfreewill "You are under a delsuion that it works for you."
That is a contradiction. The only person who can say if something works for them is that person themselves. Meaning that you don't actually believe in the "freewill" listed in your username.
You cannot know for certain that something doesn't exist. If you were as scientific as you claim, you would know that you can't prove a negative. Using the word "delusion" is arrogance, and not consistent with someone who preaches love.
@fractalchez It should not take religion to engender love. People should love because they want to not because they are told to.
Martin Luther King was assasinated. His God who cares for even the birds of the air did not protect his life.
Christianity does not work means that the words of Jesus which tell us to lay hands on the sick and they will recover etc, does not work. CHildren who lose their lives to religious fanatical praying parents instead of going to a doctor proves it does not.
@Gayfreewill "It should not take religion to engender love." -> Circular argument. You can't say that religion has generated love, and then discount it when it does.
"Martin Luther King was assasinated." -> Everyone dies. And that's beside the point: he was a minister first and foremost. Are you going to try to seriously say he brought more hate to the world than love?
"Jesus which tell us to lay hands on the sick and they will recover" -> Jesus performed miracles, not commanded us to.
@Gayfreewill my advice to you is to study war history, philosophy and international relations and you will see that religion is to blame for nothing of the mess between nations or families. Even the thirty years war was about power and centralization. Study history people! before making emotional statements.
@killerbee2k Instead of looking in the past and finding fault, what can we do to change the future....any suggestions?? Love one another, be kind, judge not, lest ye be judged...and so on and so forth..
@Gayfreewill What an ignorant statement. Religion, more namely, faith, is what keeps society alive, get that through your head. Want to know why this world is becoming more and more evil everyday? Want to know why sinful actions such as homosexuality and euthanasia are becoming the norm? Why more teenage girls are becoming pregnant and dropping out than ever before? Because society is moving away from God! Because people like you think they can live without God!

@Thirdgen83 It's about God not being able to answer some questions people have to ask him. Quite a simple premise; just listen to the lyrics.

I don't believe in "God" either, it is just something people cling to when they feel like they can't do it by themselves. I stand on my own two feet and cling to the other thing real..... "Me" People can still have love for others without having to believe in something that has long been dead and should stay that way.

Why does such a great piece of music have to suffer from such retarded religion vs. science debate? Can't you people just let each have their own believes and enjoy the music?
KorppiX 7 months ago 55
@KorppiX The reason is because music can draw more emotion then anything else and emotion is tied into memory and everyones memory is different. Some have had religion beat into their brains and some have had science. No one really thinks for themselves anymore.

...you guys are so funny...all you speak about is Religion, at no point does God or Jesus Christ require us to be Religious...it fact just the opposite, God is Love...perfect Love....all he asks is that we as humans reach out to him, and be truthful...God Does the rest! Christ even tells us that, ...if you have faith, that of a mustard seed, you can all move mountains... You can bicker all day about Religion, but you can't debate the truth, to know God is to Love God, all it takes is Faith!

bakemonoshi 7 months ago
@EdEvil777

Before christ came people who died were put in a sort of holding place that was next to hell. It was called Abrahams busom and it held every one who didn't go to hell. @KyleSurette13 like going to hell ? :s
niaj4 10 months ago
@niaj4 Read the bible, or ask an honest person who has. See what they say. Then you choose to believe it or not. But yeah, I guess going to hell is a consequence. getting to heaven is about accepting Jesus Christ. Cause we're all born sinners, and the only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ, that's why he's called our "Saviour", and the reason he was sacrificed on the cross.
KyleSurette13 9 months ago
@KyleSurette13 I think the Bible is full of wisdom because of its message of love and tolerance. Any concept of hell or sacredness however is a symbol and is quite antipedagogical IMO ; when an idea is beautiful or makes sense, I find it much more noble to try and convince people through intelligent, consensual conversation than by scaring them into that idea. As much as I respect your beliefs, I tend to find waving around the ideas of heaven and hell as an argument a bit condescending. Peace !
niaj4 9 months ago
@niaj4 I respect your beliefs also. I use to think the excact same thing, actually. However, I've watched documentaries on people who actually based away, and came back... and all their stories are similar. And they do infact talk about a Hell. I know someone from my area who died, he was never into religion, and when he came back, he was scared. And it completly changed him.
KyleSurette13 9 months ago
@KyleSurette13 "Getting to heaven is about accepting Jesus Christ." So not only are people born into sin, but really, most people in the Middle East and remote islands in the Pacific are born into HELL simply because they'll never learn the name Jesus Christ, much less what he stood for. That's the problem with this thought pattern. Apparently, Christianity isn't an equal opportunity religion.
It's ideas like this that lead me to leave the church and religion and enjoy the life I live now.
heashon2000 9 months ago
@heashon2000 I've always wondered what happens if a person was never introduced to the whole bible concept, and accepting Jesus. Maybe Jesus enters your heart regardless? Idk, but I do strongly believe it's all real. And in the bible it did say " The only way to Heaven is through me (Jesus)"
KyleSurette13 9 months ago
@KyleSurette13 OK, so how can you say the "Bible is full of wisdom because of its message of love and tolerance" when the ONLY way into Heaven is through Christ. That doesn't sound very tolerant or loving to me. It also sounds like the few 100 million (or possibly a billion or two) people who died before Christ was born got dealt a pretty bad hand.
You seem like a pretty nice person and I don't want to bad mouth your religion, but I just can't see how people keep buying into this concept.
heashon2000 9 months ago
@heashon2000 Honestly, idk what happened to the people, before Christ. Maybe God had mercy on them regardless. Or maybe they just went to hell? Idk. Or maybe those souls are yet to be rescued upon Jesus' return. There are always questions like this that we don't know. The reason I think they were never mentioned is because they don't apply to us whatsoever.
KyleSurette13 9 months ago
@KyleSurette13 So, I guess if you're one of the people who don't apply to "US" [please define who that is], you're shit outta luck.
Doesn't make sense and certainly doesn't sound very merciful.
The fact that there are so many idk's involved takes away from the relevancy of the Bible. If going to Heaven or Hell was at stake, and God is truly the deliverer of salvation, he/she would have made things like this very clear to us humans. The Bible is one of the bureaucracies keeping man from God.
heashon2000 9 months ago
@heashon2000 Maybe it does explain it somewhere. I don't know everything about the bible. Idk much, tbh. I think you'd need to ask someone who studies it these questions.
KyleSurette13 9 months ago
@KyleSurette13 til the coming of jesus there was no mention of hell, and you got in regardles of what you did as long as you asked forgiveness for sins. think of jesus like a patch for heaven, an update. afterall the way i see it god made the galaxy, and while im not christian or catholic or anything like that, i have beliefs, that the milky way is gods created land, and hes part of an order, of gods, ruling the whole of the universe, and seperate dimensions. so hell before jesus didnt exsist.
liukang911 9 months ago
@liukang911 Having you explain things in a more "modern" way, is much easier to understand. Thank you. So in other words, before Christ, if you didn't get into heaven, what would happen? Would you remain within your body to rought/wait for a proper judgement? Or were you completly wiped out? (Which I didn't think was possible for a soul to be wiped out, due to it not being at all like a physical body) I read something about the second coming on christ, and taking the souls who were waiting?
KyleSurette13 9 months ago

The beginning of Romans explain this.
jesstipton 9 months ago
@jesstipton Today people are more educated and information is available that never was before. Today we can buy books that point out all the errors, contradictions and even false prophecies in the bible. If people can get to the point where they use their common sense, logic and reason then they will find that religion is pretty much bullcrap. people need to examine and question their faith FROM THE OUTSIDE and they will find the truth that no religion is correct. Lose your religion. Wake up.

Peace
002RC 7 months ago
@002RC Being an ex-christian i am fully aware of what and why you believe it. I am aware of the "high" the religion gives it's followers. I have been there and done it. The only difference is i became educated and learned that it is a grand delusion and that the human mind is so incredibly gullible. Let's face it, christianity does not add up. If you took the time to examine the faith from the outside you would see that too. But you wish to remain in your delusion and that's fine. I know it.
Gayfreewill 7 months ago
@Gayfreewill I do not get a fuckin "high" I practice my religion because I believe it's what makes me a better man and quite honestly I am sick and tired of people slamming it into the ground. Ya so what if Christianity dosent make sense. Neither does the theory of evolution. Here, I'll prove evolution wrong to the whole world, HOW DID THE FIRST LIFEFORMS COME INTO EXISTENCE? Perfect environment temperatures, pressure and atmospheric pressure created something living? Sounds like spontaneity
002RC 7 months ago
@002RC Should christians use the "F" word? Ask your preacher or ask god tonight when you pray.
I slam religion because it deserves to be slammed like all drug use should. Religion is a drug and like all the others it impairs your thinking process.
Your evolution argument is non-intelligent. SHould I ask you who created god? There is no god as we have been led to believe. Man created God in man's own image and not the other way around.
Gayfreewill 7 months ago
@Gayfreewill combustion to me, and if I remember my science classes correctly, SCIENTIST disproved spontaneous combustion. So suck on that.

Zero.
fractalchez 7 months ago
@fractalchez 1st, nowhere did i say i was an atheist. I just don't beieve in the God man created. aka "Man created God in his own image" and no visa versa. Our whole concept of God is greatly flawed and the bible has not even a clue because that is man creating god in mans image. Hopefully you get that. I believe in "something" but it is not the god religions have created, no way.
Gayfreewill 7 months ago
@Gayfreewill -continued- The people you mentioned may find "comfort" in their religion just as others do in other religions. It depends basically where you are born which should give you a clue that it is all about cultural conditioning and exposure.
As a child finds comfort and talks to dolls and teddy bears, "it works for them" and they find comfort and can imagine that doll being it's friend. But in all actuality and reality it is not listening. We humans have great imaginations.
Gayfreewill 7 months ago
@Gayfreewill I am under no delusion about what I do in a typical day and I have no question as to who I follow, GOD, NOT A MAN IN A SUITE, and who is to say that your not the one who is incredibly gullible? At least my traditions have been around for thousands of years, your trusting a group of random people that formed a circle jerk with each other and spewed their shit on each other into what are accepted THEORIES today. At least I have a prophet who visited Earth.
002RC 7 months ago
@002RC Not to take a side either way, but the birth of Christianity occured somewhere in the 1st century, meaning the religion /doesnt/ have thousands of years of traditon, by definition alone it could only have just over a thousand years of tradition. Other religion predate Christianity and survive to this very day, those religions that do could make the clame you just made. Anyway have fun in your pointless argument with the Gay (man/woman?) there on a virtual web site.

@Gayfreewill Funny you mention Christians as the primary target. How many muslims have killed gays compared to christians?
issanel 7 months ago
@issanel Of course that goes with out saying. I know Muslims are the worseer religion. They are a sick-minded lot and christians are not as bad but bad enough.
Gayfreewill 6 months ago

Be careful with opinions; just because everyone has one doesn't mean they are all equal, or deserve equal treatment.

@Gayfreewill "religion has smashed that love between brothers and sisters"
No. Some people have used religion to do that. Plenty others have used it to engender love.
"Christianity does not work""
Did it work for Martin Luther King, Fred Rogers, William Blake, Johnny Cash ... well, I think you know anyone could make a very long list.
I don't pretend that only my personal belief system can work. They can all be used for ill or for good. The choice is up to the individual.
fractalchez 7 months ago
