That's a song sung by a dad who can see his kid. I wrote a song all about how my daughter was lied to about me for 18 years.
I haven't seen her since she was 2.5 yrs old. She lives in Europe. Divorce is a nasty thing to live through. It hurts every one who can't se who they want to see.
When i found her on facebook when she was 17, she basically didn't believe anything i said.
We argued about why she calls herself after her mother's maiden name and not her given name . Then she blocked me.
I am sorry for everyone that hasn't seen their father for years. But just know..that no matter what you are in his head all day everyday(: Maybe it is for the best that you don't see him..or maybe the worst..But it doesn't matter how much thought you put into it...it won't make you feel better. I know it sounds harsh..and im sorry...But i know that if you think about the things you do have and the times that you have spent then maybe you wouldn't be so "depressed". This song brings me to tears just thinking about it-- I think, of course, partially in that it's beautiful, and partially because I wish I'd see my dad love me as much as he says he does. It's funny that you can tell someone matters to you a lot when disagreements with them sting the most.
@superspongenova I am thankful, but it doesn't mean that I can't be sad about him, too. There are complexities to growing up without a father as there are with growing up with one tenuously.

My mother dies when I was born, and my father couldn't cope. He tried to take care of me n his own but it didn't work out so I ended up with nannies. He went on to being a hollywood star and I only saw him briefly. Then he wanted to move to LA from London, my home, whe I was 13 and I refused and ended up with the social service. Then his friend, Nick, stepped in and took me home. Almost 3 years later I live with Nick and no one has ever loved me like he does. Nick you're the greatest daddy ever.

Ive never had a dad, and when i was 4 my mom worked in the pta for my school and she was helping out at the father daughter dance and she had to take me with her cause she didnt have anybody to watch me and I had to sit next to her all night and watch all the dads holding there daughters in there arms dancing to this song. That was truly a heartbreaking moment , I will never forget how i felt.

When I first listened to this song I wished me and my dad had a good father and daughter relationship. But now I'll always remember listening to this song when dad had a heart attack. It made me realise that to me he was the best dad ever and I didn't want him to go. Songs like this make you feel a lot of emotions so care for what you have because you don't know how lucky you are till it's gone.

I only knew my step father and he died when I was twelve. To this day he is the most wonderful father a person could have. I miss him soooo much. My biological father was never the kind of man that we see in these pics. I'm one of those girls who grew up without that love from either parent. But I have another family, two parents who have for lack of a better term have "adopted" me as their adult daughter. After my wife had our two boys she had become pregnant again.We went to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl . When we found out the baby was going to be a girl we had such an exited scream the nurses ran into the room to find out what happened when they found out they were just as exited for us. Ive never had a dad, and when i was 4 my mom worked in the pta for my school and she was helping out at the father daughter dance and she had to take me with her cause she didnt have anybody to watch me and I had to sit next to her all night and watch all the dads holding there daughters in there arms dancing to this song. That was truly a heartbreaking moment , I will never forget how i felt.

When I first listened to this song I wished me and my dad had a good father and daughter relationship. But now I'll always remember listening to this song when dad had a heart attack. It made me realise that to me he was the best dad ever and I didn't want him to go. Songs like this make you feel a lot of emotions so care for what you have because you don't know how lucky you are till it's gone.

I only knew my step father and he died when I was twelve. To this day he is the most wonderful father a person could have. I miss him soooo much. I grew up without that love and it is still very hard on me. As Msnotriouslip said, appreciater your father. The worst thing is growing up with out that love.

so i was talking to a friend one night...to be exact monday, may 30, 2011. anyway we were on the subject of "father's day" she told me that i had the potential and the ability and info to find him sense i had no idea what he looked like or anything. so the next day(tueday) i went to the libaray and looked up his work's email. asked if they new a -insert name here- and that im his daughter blah blah blah. well wednesday i didnt expect anything...at least this soon. my father

My biological father was never the kind of man that we see in these pics. I'm one of those girls who grew up without that love from either parent. But I have another family, two parents who have for lack of a better term have "adopted" me as their adult daughter. To say the least, I am catching up on all of those years I missed and I could not be more thankful for them in my life... this video is precious, it really is. To all girls, cherish your father. @mileycyrustillidie Yep exactly . . . Nickelodeon would often play the music video for this around the time that the movie was released in 2002--I was 13 and in 8th grade. Haven't seen the movie in awhile but it's one of my favorites.

After my wife had our two boys she had become pregnant again.We went to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl . When we found out the baby was going to be a girl we had such an exited scream the nurses ran into the room to find out what happened when they found out they were just as exited for us. My daughter means the world to me and I love her so much and I' m going to watch her shine.

my wife and I now have two amazing daughters this song is awsome, i've made a video of my elder daughter with a ryan huston song, love you forever. now i am in the process of making a video of my younger daughter with this paul simon song. these songs are excellent and with all the comments on youtube. its nice to see fathers are being fathers. peace and love to all good fathers and yes love your daughters forever.
