Oh my god, this is so good. I've never heard a combination of Georgian Polyphonic singing and pop sound so relaxed and cool! I'm freaking out right now
Hi guys! let me thank you from the name of my father - member of Orera Teymuraz Davitaia - hi is in a orange shirt i this video. Let me add also that this song has been recorded at 1968 before the trip of Orera around the world on the Shota Rustaveli ship (this trip also has been filmed and here on youtube there are some songs from mentioned film)
Did you guys know that these boys (especially the one in pink shirt) singlehandedly invented what is today known as VIDEO CLIP? Even though the general idea has been aroung for nearly a century, the modern concept didn't exist back when they were filming their songs. Fucking communists never appreciated things and ideas that were progressive, even those that have been accomplished in their own fucking country...
This was the first song from ussr that has ben charted on BBC. It was on 1972 after winning of Grand Prix at Sopot int music festival in Poland... There was sold more than 300 mln LP of Orera during the 50 years theyr musical carear...
waaaa! when was this recorded? 60s? 70s? what a hybrid of Georgian traditional polyphony and jazz! wasn't the soviet block repressive of jazz and stuff back then? That jazz and rock was too representive of western freedom and American rebeliousness? ,,, and one more question, did Orera produce anything else so incredible?
I've heard some of their other stuff, but haven't been impressed by anything else of theirs. If they've got more jazzy stuff like this, I want to hear it. I love this version.
yes, it was end of 60s-early 70-s. Why did Soviets allow jazz? First, it was a short period of political "melting". And 2nd - it was one of minority nations, Soviets wanted to show that they encourage national diversity. This group even get away with singing in English! To your second question: they produced a LOT of stuff, ALL of it in my taste is super!!! Plus of course nostalgia for those "good old times"!
I knew this song, but listening to it again surprised me, what a freshness and harmonic richness... Thanks, Orera! What was the year this was filmed - about 1970?
This is a pure gerogian art :) bevrs albad arc aaqvs es video nanaxi ( dgevandel axalgazrdobas vgulisxmob )...... it is wonderful ...thanks for upoading this video :)

I agree,
We need to find more of this stuff. Maybe they didn't realise how much they were onto something when they did this. Let me know if you have any luck.
