eh this sounds ok, but I think the stock exhaust is just fine. I happen to own a 2003 SSEI so I know what it sounds like first hand. In my mind the only vehicles that deserve an open piped system is something with a V8, nothing else compares.
man i'm telling u... u should have left it stock... those magnaflows sounds like a fucking hover vacum on those L67 try a flowmaster next time... thats a real muffler ....xd
@falken612 I don't know what you've been listening to, but it's all a matter of opinion I guess. I have since gone with magnaflow mufflers on the car and I love them. Much deeper mellow tone and a bit louder. They can be heard easily at idle and roar on the throttle! And no highway droning. I have flowmaster mufflers on my '93 Bonneville, which does sound great at idle, but sounds retarded and raspy up in the RPMs. And the highway drone is ridiculous, I can deal with it but most people complain.
how well did everything fit together? I had a clogged cat so I hollowed it out, now it sounds kinda crappy because you hear to much niose under the car. But did the parts you got fit together easily? I need to get mine fixed I just don't know what route to take, it would be nice to avoid alot of welding
@spyguy49 Everything fit fairly nicely. There was just enough room to fit a 3" to 2.5" reducer after the cat and before the resonator. Otherwise, the front PLog just bolts right in, and the Downpipe bolts right on. You can order the DP from ZZP with or without a cat. But you will have to weld in the end of it. I've since got a pair of Magnaflow mufflers as well. I'll have to upload the before and afters of that sometime, when I find my camera...
I like your car. My '97 SSEI's exhaust sounds a lot like the last clip only a tad bit quieter and it's stock. The pipes burnt out rather well over the years.
Thanks! Yes, it did trip the Check Engine light. I have an AeroForce Scangauge though, so whenever it comes up I can delete the code. It took almost 4k miles to come up the first time. The interval keeps closing in, now it seems to be down to a few hundred miles and it comes on again. I'll either have it tuned out of the PCM in the spring or put in an O2 sensor simulator.
Nice SSEi. Mine is only the non-supercharged. When that one finally dies out I'm hoping to get a nice GXP. I like what u've done to ur exhaust, if I ever get some money to spend I'm having a custom one built for my car, maybe true dualing or x piping it, if thats even possible in a FWD lol.
The exhaust systems on the Bonnevilles are actually great from the factory. They worst part is the front manifold. I actually probably won't come close to outflowing this until I get into porting the heads and caming.
Good luck on trying to kill the 3800, lol. They're strong engines! The GXP will sound amazing though, the sound of 8 cylinders is great! You can't do much performance wise with the GXP though.
@WhiteArrow3800 O I kno the 3800 wont die but I'm sure something else on it will and then i'll need a new car. And not true, its hard to find but u can do anything u want to any car. I have a friend in the amry, his buddy has a Bonneville GXP, its twin turboed and bored out, makes 667 HP at the wheels on a dyno :-P hes got a positraction FWD too lol. Of course that took tons of money and lots of time.
I think im gonna cry! I used to have a 91 SSE back in the day and had put a borla on it i think, but was the best sounding car i ever had. I had nightmares after I traded it in though cause i missed it so much.
