the base of the speakers sound to high pitch. especially 8 inch which is what i had with a 300 watt kicker amp. i recommend a kenwood 12'' shallow mount which gives a 1400 watt peak. SOUNDS REALLY GOOD
Who cares what they look like? I think I would rather have ugly subs that produce a lot of bass compared to some Walmart speakers that have LED's that produce less. Everything isn't about appearance.
@gerbilPROJECT they dont help, but they allow for a thiner profile, so they can fit in boxes that will fit under seats, or behind seats in trucks...but theoretically, the more surface area the cone has the louder it is, thats why L7's are square, because a square has more surface area than a circle...it also explains why 2010 kickers have that really weird injected cone...its because all the sides and edges add up in surface area and allow more sound in less space.
@DIENAMICProductions The CompVT woofers in 10" and 12" are rated to handle 400 watts continuous, not peak. I really hate peak power ratings...there is no standardization to follow. Most of the time the RMS is doubled and called "peak'. There really is no way to rate anything in "peak" power...amps or subs. Music is too dynamic to accurately measure it.
Not at all, 4 ohms draws more current, and you get less out of it.
Most amps are 2 ohms stable; But it is true if say I have an amp running at 1 ohm and it is not 1 ohms stable then yeah, it's gunna fuck some shit up, hahaha
I just want to correct you. a 1500 amp running 1ohm may be 1500 watts, but 4ohms wouldn't be 750. 1 to 2 is half. 1500 dropped in half is 750. 2 to 4 is half again, so 375. My amp is rated 500watts @ 2ohm, 4ohm wiring only gives me 250watts. it also depends if the amp is single or dual channel.
it depends on the amp, if you go lower in ohms you get more power. you can go lower by getting a lower ohm sub or by wiring it differently. look at the specs on the amps on their website it might help
yea...but u can buy the subs without the box...actually i havent even seen these in the sub and box package....i jus see the kicker cvx and L5 and 7 's
Hey guys, I'm installing 2 CVT 8" in my truck D-max. Doesn't have room 4 anythng else. I noticed that they use 200 watt RMS. Because I'm installing 2 of them, I need some advice with the amp. I was thinking of a ZX350.4 But then I noticed that's sending only 175 watt RMS a channel. I'm afraid 2 fall short. But on the other hand ZX650.4 is way 2 much. Can somebody pls advice.
get 2 CVT 8" 4 ohm single voice coil subs, then wire them down to 2 ohm. the amp you need is a kicker zx 400.1, it's $150 on ebay. this will run 400 rms @ 2 ohm, pushing the subs perfectly. if you have any questions feel free to message me
i've never seen convex subs, they're all convex. the reason for that is because convex speakers move more air. this sound's really nice, but i think you could get more bass for you're buck.
no, with a convex cone, the air is forced everywhere, while a concave cone presses it in one area...That is the theory, but I don't get the whole concept...
yes it does, it presses the air everywhere, and your supposed to put them in a sealed box, because the air in the box compresses better that a concave cone... and the compressed air kind of forces it back out kind of like a jackhammer...(thats where the MTX jackhammer gets it's name...)I've meen working with subwoofers ever since I got out of high school, trust me, i'm a pro at these things...and I messed up on the last comment...I get the concept, not the theory...
well you better watch it, just a little bit too much and you can blow it. i recommend that you tune it all the way down, then bring it up slowly till you feel it start to warm up alot, then back it off a bit.
I mono amp means that it would only run to one speaker, if you tried to run it to two speaker you would be blowing fuses left and right. With quality speakers like Kicker your best bet is to get something around 1000 or 1200 watt 2-channel amp.
he's not even pushing em I had the same subs two sets and they pushed way harder on my alpine 850.1 monoblock. And ya cvr's r way louder. quick question, do these subs fit in a 12inch cut hole, or do you have to cut a smaller one to fit these twelves they say like a 10 2/3's hole on the store sight, im builing my own box and i am ready to cut the hole so im kinda hesitant
i dont wanna bag on this guys equip, but they dont sound that bad for shallow mounts, but u only get shallow mounts when you aint got shit for room. i had two ten inch pioneers in my last reg cab ford. do it big poopoo head. do it big
You are very wrong...fosgate amps are up there with #1...kicker amps arnt so great...only 2 ohm stable and put out bad power compared to fosgate, the solo x isnt that great either, ive seen some of the cones crack with just a zx 2500.1 on it, but yet they claim 5k rms on it...which is bs, my lvl 4's are louder and sound cleaner than any kicker subs i have ever heard
dude kicker amps pound i have a 2 zx1000.1 hooked up to 2 fosgate p3s 1 to each @ 4 ohms 500 watts rms...lol they put a crack in my blazers rear window, if they were the fosgate 2 ohm p3s a single kicker zx1000 would be a perfect match to the exact specs, u can wire them to a 2ohm 1000 watt rms load
the base of the speakers sound to high pitch. especially 8 inch which is what i had with a 300 watt kicker amp. i recommend a kenwood 12'' shallow mount which gives a 1400 watt peak. SOUNDS REALLY GOOD

69dumpweed182 2 years ago
2 ohm hits harder
romanu777 2 years ago
@romanu777
That is 100% false.
QuestioningAnswers 2 years ago
why?
romanu777 2 years ago
@romanu777
The only thing an ohm load has to do with is how much power you are getting
Running at 4 ohms is putting more stress on your amp, running at 2 ohms puts less stress on it
I'm running 2 dual 4 ohm subs @ 1 ohm on a 2000 wrms amp
QuestioningAnswers 2 years ago
i think it's exactly the opposite because not all amps can run 2 ohm so the smaller the impedance of woofer, the more stress on your amp.
romanu777 2 years ago
Not at all, 4 ohms draws more current, and you get less out of it.
Most amps are 2 ohms stable; But it is true if say I have an amp running at 1 ohm and it is not 1 ohms stable then yeah, it's gunna fuck some shit up, hahaha
QuestioningAnswers 2 years ago
just do: I=U/R and find out wich impedance draws more current. i say 2 ohm or less draws more current
romanu777 2 years ago
@QuestioningAnswers actually the lower the impedence the more stres.. u have more current draw at a lower impedence and also have less eficiency
dubsidedude2010 2 years ago
i dont quite get how ohms work. whats the best to get the most out of a amp to make your subs hit hard?
Msp2011 2 years ago
@Msp2011
Well you wire your subs voice coils to run at a certain impedance with your amp
You need to make sure that your subs are running the right ohm load and that your amp is stable at that(those) ohm(s)
Running, say a 1500 watt rms amp @ 1 ohm, will generally give you 1500 watts rms
After raising the ohm level you get less power
So you could have for example a Treo 1500.1 amp giving you 1500 wrms at 1 ohm, but only 750 watts rms at 4 ohms.
QuestioningAnswers 2 years ago
so lets say its a 300 watt amp. to get the most power and for my subs it hit hardest can wire it to 1ohm?
Msp2011 2 years ago
only wire it IF your amp is stable @ 1 ohm
Because if not you can fry it
QuestioningAnswers 2 years ago
I just want to correct you. a 1500 amp running 1ohm may be 1500 watts, but 4ohms wouldn't be 750. 1 to 2 is half. 1500 dropped in half is 750. 2 to 4 is half again, so 375. My amp is rated 500watts @ 2ohm, 4ohm wiring only gives me 250watts. it also depends if the amp is single or dual channel.
bastec666 1 year ago
@bastec666 It's not always cut in half. My amp does 1000wrms at 1ohm, 600wrms at 2 ohms, and 300wrms at 4 ohms.
Nirvalica 1 year ago
it depends on the amp, if you go lower in ohms you get more power. you can go lower by getting a lower ohm sub or by wiring it differently. look at the specs on the amps on their website it might help

the max power isnt what matters. its the rms power, or the constant power. they can only handle 400 watts rms.

I mono amp means that it would only run to one speaker, if you tried to run it to two speaker you would be blowing fuses left and right. With quality speakers like Kicker your best bet is to get something around 1000 or 1200 watt 2-channel amp.
