  • hmm wonder why the contestants are all wearing headphones?

  • @RondoRaven That was the only way they could hear anything.

  • @wannawatchu66 good answer! that totally plugs all the holes

  • @RondoRaven Well, they could've had speakers in the soundproof booths that would've done the same thing, but I think the headphones, because of the "visual effect," were used rather than a speaker (that no one would see on camera).

  • you are such a dumbass. he's out of hiding, genius.

  • true

  • I'm writing a research paper on this topic and found this video, is it really only about 4 mins? Does anyone have any other sources that may be of some help?

    Thanks! :)

  • No it's about 50 minutes to one hour in length. I remember seeing this on PBS and remembered it being an hour or close to it.

  • thanx for posting this :)

  • The allegations that Herb Stempel had made started to make more sense when a contestant on a lesser known and short lived show, "Dotto", came forward with a book of answers as proof the show was fixed. That's when the investigations into other shows were taken more seriously.

  • This is this best record of the Quiz Show scandal. This and investigator/author Dick Goodwin's book on the era led to the movie "Quiz Show," but that movie played with both the facts and the timeline of how things went down, even beyond what would be justifiable to make an entertainment film. This installment of "The American Experience" is the real deal.

  • I don't think that's a fair comparison or an assessment. The intentions of each work are totally different, and both succeed at what they set out to do.

  • I agree. Many times the movie adaptations of these things are filled with inaccuracies and should not be relied upon. I won't even watch the movie "Quiz Show" or other films that tamper with the actual facts behind people, places or events for those reasons.

  • It's a fascinating story.

    ...

    Agree to DISAGREE!

  • Lying under oath...Just like the 7 heads of Big Tobacco.

  • This story touches upon themes about declining moral standards and the entertainment industry that still ring true today...Just like the MLB and STEROIDS...I wonder if Ken Jennings got the answers to JEOPARDY?

  • I don't see a link to purchase this item on the mlfilms site, is it out of print?

  • "I don't see a link to purchase this item on the mlfilms site, is it out of print?" - look on Amazon, it is there.
