  • i love Atterberg's music! This is simply gorgeous music. For those of you who love beautiful symphonies, listen to any of Atterberg's, especially No. 3 and No. 6. His Symphonic cycle is, in my opinion, one of the best Romantic cycles of all.

  • It came from a great, and much underrated, Swedish lyrical composer Kurt Atterberg. Completely Scandinavian. Brilliant.

  • our school strings played this piece last year

    It was so beautiful

    I love the 2nd movement

  • When did this piece come out! It is so beautiful!

  • I am not sure exactly but i know it was discovered not long ago by a teacher that i studied with.

  • It was composed in 1917 and inspired by Maeterlinck's play, "Sister Beatrice". There are several recordings of the piece. One of the most perfect (emotionally) is the one on a Swedish Society CD record with Atterberg's 2nd symphony. The solists are Mircea Saulesco and Gideon Roehr, the conductor Stig Westerberg.
