i love Atterberg's music! This is simply gorgeous music. For those of you who love beautiful symphonies, listen to any of Atterberg's, especially No. 3 and No. 6. His Symphonic cycle is, in my opinion, one of the best Romantic cycles of all.
It was composed in 1917 and inspired by Maeterlinck's play, "Sister Beatrice". There are several recordings of the piece. One of the most perfect (emotionally) is the one on a Swedish Society CD record with Atterberg's 2nd symphony. The solists are Mircea Saulesco and Gideon Roehr, the conductor Stig Westerberg.

It came from a great, and much underrated, Swedish lyrical composer Kurt Atterberg. Completely Scandinavian. Brilliant.
