@KPpivot Hi.. KPpivot... i dreamed of making a motorised roller skates from my childhood.. but it was till this very moment stayed only in my mind... and now after seeing this video i think i can make atleast something near to a real one.... so am with u..if this CD motor is not enough wat motor u suggest for this work??....
@leon086209 You cant expect a society as americans (I am not assuming that this person is american but I can say this as I am one) To make a small powerful motor when the "normal" thought is that bigger is better. Also you cannot expect for this person to take the motor out of their computer and be all like "OMG IF I DO THIS IT WILL GO 40 KPH (Which is the average speed of air treks as said in the series.) So bottom line: You take a crack at it cause I tried and epically failed at it,
you also need controls to move, and you need a cooling system. Feet get hot you know, and even worse in hot weather, not to mention when in rains... What about acelerating? how are we gonna go faster or slower?
We need JET FUEL Engine, not really but we would need something that is small that can move at least 130-200 Lbs of weight, a CD-ROM Wouldnt be enough but thats a lead, we would need something that can put more power in.
Even if you managed to build an extremely powerful and small motor, you still have to deal with the fact you need a large power source in the form of a small battery or something.
@gnahzdivad Brushless electric motors would do the trick although they could still be made smaller :) you can buy electric scooters that use them and one motors enough to propel a average man to afew
mph if you tweaked it abit and got more than one of the motors working at same RPM you could easly recreate air treks although there is the issue of a place for a battery and were it would go :)
i'd like to point out this wont work for AT'S or if ur trying ot use the motor to run some kind of transport its way to weak as so as say a 60kg? load is pushed on it than it will probaly stop the motor
it's enough to carry a couple of kilos - the wheel and axis themself are very good, but a motor was too weak and I rebuild it using motor and gear from a car's window lift.
A CD-ROM tray motor and a rollerskate wheel with a gear from an old inkjet printer. Easy to repeat, but not so useful - very weak motor and gears for this construction.
it was made for 0.5kg robot and wasn't expected to be more powerfull, but cheap and quiet. Another one is stronger, but still drives only several kilos.
I think it's interesting idea and there're some projects and even build roller skates with motors published in Internet - they confirm it's important to safe control of driving and stop skates. I'd rather start design such system by prototyping. It's not hard to get required knowledge in this way. Actually each roller skate is a robot with specific behavior reacted according external conditions and driver signals. Start building little robots is the best way to design it (see Sparkfun, Pololu)
A good motor is not enough for roller scates (see a funny clip "ACME Roller Skates"). I'm sure control of this equipment is very important and delicate part of the system. First I'd build a small prototype to calculate real ability to drive, control and stop. This is a reason I'm buiding prototypes first. You can see a number of such constructions on my channel.
not really sure. but if u think kinda like an electric scooter? works?

no where near enough power. nice idea though

Make the motor stronger and sturdier ! And faster

great prototype if i new u i would help you
KakasiDemon 6 months ago
first we would have to make a miniature motor that contains the power of three normal ones if we can do that anything is possible
TeamAirHeadz 6 months ago
dude when u do this the motors r suppose to turn on when u lean forward
cwalkingjosh 6 months ago
dont think of it as not enought power...think of it as were half way there to make real airtreks :)
edible333 7 months ago
nice but will some one PLEASE make it work on rollerblades with the speed up to atleast 12 MPH

that's cool now you have to do is to make rollerskates out of that and we got Air Trecks

we can bump the power up somehow dont u think. some one in this world made it we can 2

why the fuck arnt you famous yet? lol jk cant wait till we get AT

It needs to genarate at least 2 horsepower to move a human

lol no they couldnt be used for airtreks.

@rollen8 I agree.

it's not only motor required, but also a smart controller block, steady gear and an accumulator.
smtroboforum 2 years ago
so in other words this is not possible yet

its not possible to obtain it if you want how about you put a brushless motor i think it's hard right
roben999 2 years ago
Never used brushless motors.
smtroboforum 2 years ago
but if some how i could get my hands on a motor strong enough i would be able too right but how strong would it need to be

would said motor be easy to come by or is it hard to find or not made it
Azure798 2 years ago
this motor and gears are too weak
smtroboforum 2 years ago
hey dude is it possible to put a motor ina roller skate and make it move the wheels
Azure798 2 years ago
It's possible but you need a motor with more torque and firm gears.
IMHO motors on roller scates should be supplied by kind of remote control and some safe controller block - it's hazardous equipment
