It must be a pre-production model (4310s), brushed metal-front with no 'ProBook' sign, the bottom has no expansion option, no cover for HDD or RAM change.

yeah 5101, the 4310s looks like it but it's chunkier. the 5310m is based on the design of the 5101 but it's big and thin. kinda confusing

The shine in between keys will be a bitch to clean finga prints off. Touchpad glossy too, But easy to wipe down. Love the metal, but hate the rubber on everything, it Scratching off. Don't get me wrong, I love the feel of the rubber, just not for a keyboard.

Hp 2140 and 5101 are pretty much the same. gud feature of 5101 is it has 250 n 320 gb hdd wheareas 2140 supports 160g max. 5101 ha a bit faster processor Atom N280 1.66ghz while 2140's atom n270 1.60ghz. however Ram in 2140 is faster 800Mhz than 5101 533Mhz.

they are both great, I'm not sure which is better. I might lean towards the nb200 b/c of battery life, but both are solid.

Ok tnx. Cant decide what to choose now. Lenovo s12 or toshiba. S12 have bigger screen and very good sound but not such good battery -price same. BTW -planning review of it ?

yes, have the S12 right here. I think you'd be happier with the Toshiba based on what I've seen so far, unless if you really need the extra display size.

So the 5101 is the same size as the 1000? I am wanting to buy this machine, but am hesitant because I am afraid it is bigger than the 1000 or the new 110. Also, do you know how much the 6cell battery extends from the unit? I want the longer battery life, but don't want the battery sticking out of the machine.

It's a bit bigger, not a ton, but not as streamlined as the Mini 1000.

lol every time I see this thing, I think about how much HP is spoiling its users, most netbooks have poor build quality, but this thing has a nice finish, chiclet keyboard (that's practically the size of an avg. laptop keyboard), and just a nice finish in general.

My brother wants this laptop, can it run jolicloud? (I just gotta jolicloud beta invite and I wanna see it run on the machine). Also, can it play Youtube / Vimeo HD videos? If not I think I'll have to wait until the performance increases on these netbooks.

I haven't tried it, but from what I've seen most systems can run jolicloud well enough. I have heard about people using the Mini 1000 with jolicloud, which means the 5105 might work as well.

I'm using the 1008HA right now and really liking it. Feels fast and the exterior is totally cool IMO. Some very minor build quality issues and I don't love the keyboard, but it's a great netbook.
