  • (((_{-_-}_))) Amazing ! 4:00 nice mastercraft :)

  • I bought a Dahon Ciao and had nothing but problems. It kept falling apart. I got flats easily. The internal gear kept locking up. I couldnt wait to get rid of it. I am thinking about getting another dahon bike maybe mine was just bad.

  • @Maccastreisfan I know your message is a year old, but don't get another Dahon. I badgered the company into replacing one SpeedPro, but the replacement was just as bad.

  • I have a Dahon Jack for three years now, ride every single day on it and fold it in my office. The quality is stellar.

The 09 ProTTs have Ultegra and FSA components.

the negative comments here have more to do with redneck pro-american sentiment.

  • Where do you live?

In the US, my Friday cost marginally more than my SpeedPro. However, repairs and replacement parts for the Friday are a LOT cheaper--case in point, the chain and cassette for the Friday are off-the-peg items for which I paid $75; the SP chain/cassette are special order; they cost a lot more. ditto for many other parts--seatpost, stems, and so forth.

Longer-term cost of ownership is the same or less for a Friday, again, based on my experience.

  • I just ordered an 08 Speed Pro TT and am very excited. I am getting it because I need something that folds to take on the train with me during my commute. I am not totally expecting it to ride as nicely as my Trek road bike, but am hoping for a relatively close approximation. FYI, I did look extensively at the Bike Friday models. While they are awesome, it was way more money than I want to spend. I don't need that level of customization on a folding bike.

  • I have one of these things. It's a great ride, and a lot better than the Brompton in that respect. It's major flaw is the brake/shifter mechanism. They are a miss fit which leads to horrible braking. On the scale of ridebility to foldability, I feel it sits in a sweet spot; The aternative was an airnimal, but folding on those is horrible.

  • You bought a mass-produced toy. For the same money you could have gotten a Bike Friday, custom made to fit.

I had a SpeedPro. Worst piece of garbage ever Ask SRAM what they think of their DualDrive hub being used in a so-called "performance" bike--and why SRAM will not honor the warranty of an improperly spec'd component.

For getting around town, there are Dahon models that suit the itinerant cyclist. But the SpeedPro models are, essentially, a tax on stupidity.

  • Worst piece of crap is a bit harsh... Here are my thoughts: Flat handlebars fold in a tighter package, Dual drive provides great pedaling power for road people, not that useful around town (I could do as well with 8 speeds)and packaging was awful... Potato chip front gears and potatochip wheel. You buy what sy=uites you when u run across it... Dahon made it easy to run across them so you buy it.

  • DualDrive = not designed to handle "great pedaling power." This, straight from SRAM.

I'll be more specific: based on what Dahon promised, the SpeedPro is by far the shoddiest bicycle I've ever owned. Badly designed, dishonestly marketed, and plagued by the poorest construction quality, fit, and finish I've ever seen on a bike costing more than $1000. I could accept the latter, if the bike itself wasn't such a POS.

  • What type of bikes from Dahon do you prefer if not that SpeedPros?

  • For around town: Boardwalk. Mu (the lower-priced versions). Dahons have gotten pricier in the past few years, going up to where one could ostensibly get a Bike Friday Pocket Rocket for the same or a bit more. The BF is custom-made to fit, uses standard-sized componentry, and just rides better (because, again, it fits better).

Dahons fold neatly and fit in small spaces. But those advantages engender some serious sacrifices in ride quality and efficiency. Again, IMO, having owned both brands.

  • @SteveAndIdiAmin Bromptons are the best all-round folding bike, and they're reasonably priced.

Also, most Dahons and Bike Fridays don't have fenders, and that's kind of a deal breaker for commuters like me, who ride to work in a suit.

  • @HariVIyer Dahon and BF offer fenders as an option. The Dahon fenders are, IMO, way better; the BF ones offer only partial coverage.

  • The real advantage of this bike over a road bike is that it lets you adjust the height of both the saddle and the handle bar (on Speed models at least) so that you can assume a more upright posture when riding as opposed to the more aerodynamic one on a typical road bike. This helps your spinal cord because the discs compress more vertical as opposed to lateral helping your body to cope with the shock of the ride in a better way.

  • I have a Dahon Speed 8 with 20" wheels. I use for 5 years now as my main work out bike mainly because it goes anywhere with me. When I use it I go 20+ miles on a single ride. It has small wheels but surprisingly the ride is pretty comfortable. This is partly because the tires are a bit thicker that those of a road bike and the air pressure is less too. This makes it slower by about 4mph but far less likely to have a flat.

  • who makes shit like this

  • cool bike, how does it ride with the little wheels?

  • fuck bo g....konyo jen sen ta hode...pendew
