she was taken into gov custody and her safety was used as leverage to get Leon to work for them, and as everyone is thinking, what better way to keep tabs on someone then pretend there part of the 1st family(pres. daughter) and have secret service detail on them, it also gives a darker reason to why Ashley Graham(sherry) was kidnapped.

this didn't happin in the book,wesker kidnaped sherry,both leon and claire made it out alive,yes the u.s. goverment army showen up and higherd leon for his honorable actions of making it out alive with claire and he then join the u.s. goverment of helping to stop umbrella,claire moved on ahead to find her missing brother instead
