  • Lol last time I played this game 14 years ago...never got futher than 24 min...this bloke does it on single life...

  • The colors are different from the snes version.

    I prefer Super Swiv. :D

  • superb

  • no power ups :(

  • one day my dad came home with a box. he said `i bought the new version of your heli-jeep game` ..... you should see my face :)

btw look at the ending notes at 40:34 wtf:)

  • Renegade Ops looks like a remake of this series

  • Love it best game ever!!!

  • @DeShaadman Well pointed out, maybe this is where Apogee got the Raptor idea from.

  • No music in this one or did you turn it off?

  • @MrHoyQ

This game had only music during the intro

  • Looks like Firepower 2000 on SNES

  • Oooooh... I remember this game!

    damn that's nostalgic!

  • S.W.I.V. = Silkworm In Vertikal !!!!!

    S.A.L.T. = SALT.............hahahahaahahahahahahahahahahaahha

    SPECIAL WEAPONS INTERDICTION VEHICLES !!!!!

    JUST SWIV URSELF...heheheheehehehehehe

  • freaking hard game!!! used to piss me off:)

  • S.pecial W.eapon I.nterdiction V.ehicles

    SWIV

  • Wait, so who ACTUALLY played this?

  • Good skillz-

  • oh hell, i played so much. thx. nice game!!

  • my best game in my AMIGA 500+ old times good times best times. I remember this young times.nice gameplay

  • Freakin SILKWORM ..AMazing...

  • LOL at the Xevious homage.

  • This was a sick game on the Amiga. Well played dude, didn't even die. I only got to about 75% or so back in the day :(.

Dort steht in Grossbuchstaben "SPECIAL WEAPONS INTERDICTION VEHICLES.

  • People theres a game like this one on the iphone, does any1 know whats it called?? I had it, but it got deleted and now i cant remember the name of the game..

  • @DarkRing09

the game was called zombie soccer.you can buy it for 59 pence:p

  • Also.... I think S.W.I.V meant, Shoot With Intense Violence.

Thats what the mags said at the time. Sounds a bit dodgy now.

  • @aledbutcha

As far as i know it means "Silk Worm In Vertical"

  • @cubex55 true

  • Here's a cheat for unlimited lives on this game.

Pause the game and type , NCC-1701.

Hope this hasn't been posted here yet.

  • One fo my favorite amiga games. I was pretty good at it. but now when i play it on my amiga i sucks hehe

  • LOVED this game! Graphics, sound, gameplay, everything! Best part was playing with a pal in coop, one piloting the Jeep, even though it's more efficient to play with heli only (the Jeep dies faster and uses up your continues)

  • woaaah such a nice vid.. and such a nice player!!! i never came much further than like 10 minutes into the game ... but not even CLOSE to the end boss. xD

but the ending is awesome. "the world doesn't need an army, your are unemployed". xDD

  • Also, this game rips off Silk Worm - but as an overhead shooter.

  • SWIV aka Silkworm IV aka SilkWorm In Vertical ;)

  • Hahaha I totally missed that :D

  • This game is Silk Worm, so what are you talking about? Its Silk Worm 4, abbreviated to S.W.I.V.

  • @gamesandshite : I could never understand that because there was never a part 2 or 3 so how could it have jumped straight to 4?

  • @malducci

SWIV = Special Weapons Interdiction Vehicle

It says in the intro :)

Is definitely inspired from Silk Worm, nothing wrong with that as both are good games. It was the same team that did Silk Worm for the Amiga.

As for no soundtrack during gameplay, this game was only 1 floppy (880KB)and they maybe ran out of room. The 2 tunes in this game (intro & hi-score) take up 247KB (Almost 2 Mbits)

  • Ah nice - never noticed that ;)

  • Why does the helicopter's shadow ONLY go under objects and not appear on top of objects? That's lame. Also, no sound track? No good.

  • Best SEU of all time.

  • lol they didn't really care about epilepsy, strobes etc ;]

  • CONGRATULATIONS! You win! You has saved teh planet!

    Have a seizure!

  • wow, that rumbling sound of vulcano eruption was really scary

  • the stereo sound in this was cool

  • The first 16-bit game I ever played. Absolutely loved it!

  • What an incredible shadows. Look at that shadows!

  • OMG! another amiga game completed by u guys which i loved! thanx 4 bringing back so many gr8 memories u guys!

  • The great thing about this is that I find I enjoy watching these vids as much as I did playing the original game.

  • Lol, 18 years ago I completed this game a couple of times. Now... I get dizzy by just watching this guy play the easy parts. ;)

Keeping track of all the enemies, bullets and their movements and plotting a safe way through all of it AND positioning your firepower tactically is an art.

  • i remember good old times :D but my disk of SwIv Broke :C

  • old tank and chopper :)

  • old jeep and heli maaaaaann!

  • oh boy, all those nostalgia comes back

  • !!! NCC-1701 !!!

  • This brings back memories... This was always my favourite Amiga game. I could only finish in cheat mode... well done!!

  • Damn, now i want to get an amiga computer :(

  • Damn... buy it!

  • I played this game so much on the A500 back then. Such a beautiful shoot em up, with great sound effects also. The second player could play as a buggy at the same time :D.

  • Amiga had another game that looked kinda similar to this.. (not 1942++) U fly a small jet and get better and better lasers etc, it had a short name as I remember.. Any1 know the actual name of the game?

  • Banshee?

  • Flying Shark... Tiger Heli...

  • "You have overcome awesome odds to strike a fatal blow against againts the forces of evil that sought to enslave the free world".

Finaly I know where the pentagon has all its ideas from. They are playing to much at the computer ...

  • so THAT'S how crop-circles are made

  • It's really great. I never used to own an Amiga, I grew up with DOS games, followed by Windows games. I played Counter-Strike for a long time and other shooters as well, but I gave up playing these games.

Last month I bought an Amiga A-500 on eBay. I'm just so glad about it.

According to what 'songarakram' said I definitely have to agree that today's games are just not fun anymore. The developers just focus on pretty graphics, while even C64 games are much more fun than Crysis for example!

  • Impressive indeed.

  • oh man, this brings me back... I miss when video games were good :P

  • really awesome congratulation

  • I made love to this game many times when I was a boy.

  • Sunnova EFf. I got all the way up to the LAST boss !? DAMN I thought there was still tons left to the game!

I got all the way up to 39:14 but then I died at that boss (Back when I was younger)

    ****!

  • Damn... looking back on this, I realise I never even got past the polar region, lol.

Amazing how you can sit through 40 mins of someone else playing, because the nostalgia pulls you in.

It's almost like you're playing as well, predicting the movements at the same time. :)

    Thanks for the upload.

  • "and you are now unemployed" :D omgwtfbbq. that ending text made me laugh so hard

  • Played Super Swiv on the SNES and Amiga, the Amiga version is Superior imho.

Also Gods on the Amiga was much better than the SNES, again thats only my opinion!

  • man.. this video was simply insane.. but the ending text made me laugh though :D

  • Finest Amiga shooter.

  • Awesome shooter! I used to call this "that other Silkworm game" when I was kid because I never remembered its name. :)

  • This was one of the games that made me want an Amiga. I remember playing it over at my friends house and being very jealous...ahh, the good old days :)

  • #1 Best videogame of all time. I still play it today, 11 years after I first played it. Classic. Undisputed champion of Shoot Em Ups. Of Amiga games. Of All games. Screw modern games and their too much 3D not enough soul. This sh*t rocks. ROCKS. FOREVER!

  • god, that brings me back to elder times xD great game!

  • lol i only reached 29:50!!!

  • I liked the intro/demo mode music way better then the game itself.

  • Great game! Too bad you couldnt record 2P at once.

  • It seems to be a good Amiga-game but the SNES-version was faster, had much better graphics and music in background, not just sound effects.

  • this was a very nice game, AFAIK there is a PC conversion written in DarkBasic or something like that

  • I always used to nuke the shields..much more fun!

  • waaah! i wanna press fire and be the jeep/boat! :))))

  • I loved this game. I sucked at it big time, but loved it all the same.

  • best heli game i know damn only thunder strike for master system would have been better if it wouldnt have had those stupid 3d levels

  • moje dzieciństwo... uwielbiam dźwięki jakie można usłyszeć grając w tą gre...

  • Dokładnie tak!

  • NCC-1701

  • Rhaaaaa !!!

One of the best shooter that was released on the Amiga back in 1991...

"Carcharodon : White Shark" was great as well...

  • I think maybe the enemy faction in this game should spend their resources on fewer but more effective machines of war..

  • the explosion sounds are the same as in silkworm...

  • This was a semi-official sequel to Silkworm iirc

  • Bloody hell... I see that in my childhood I didn't finished even half of this great game... :P

  • Cheat enabled ;)

  • Nope, no cheats used!

All of our videos are played without cheats, however most of them are tool-assisted (savestates) - this one here isnt!

  • Fair enough :)

  • Abrasion does NOT use cheats. never.

  • Taaa... Bardzo trudna jakoś takoś :).

  • This original SWIV is great but I prefer Super SWIV on SNES, because it's faster and provides more firepower, even sounding less militaristic, but in that version it's actually easier and more fun as the Jeep.

  • blade004 Amiga version is better than the SNES version

    Audio

Amiga 4 digital sound channels (8-Bit)

SNES 8 digital sound channels (16-Bit)

    Graphics

Amiga 16/32 colours and 8 sprites

SNES 256 colours and 128 sprites

  • SNES have only 128kb RAM and rest is added in cartridge.

  • impressive, this game was really hard without cheatcodes ;)

  • Played it on the Atari ST myself - I was hooked on this game! If I remember, I completed it plenty of times with the Helicopter but only once with the Jeep.

To complete it without losing any lives at all though is very impressive - Nicely done.

  • I'm very impressed by the ST version. The graphics was actually equally good in that version (A little bit slower though).

  • SWIV SNES is the best version

  • The SNES version is faster but it feels like a Toy compared the Amiga version which feels a lot grittier and has far better sound for the explosions than the SNES.

  • back in the old Amiga days... :D:D:D

  • Insane ;)

  • I think this version is too slow compared to the Snes version.

  • Awesome game, like so many of you i had this game too,so damn hard as i recall, keep em coming:)

  • Damn, you're an absolute legend for posting this! what a fantastic shooter this was, unfortunately (in 1991) I had a corrupted version that froze about 20 mins in. Thanks for posting this, keep up the good work!

  • Man, this was my favorite game on Amiga ever! I remember I almost completed it, my highest was 98%. Oh the great memories. :)

  • lol. Yeah that percentage thing was a killer wasn't it :) it would egg you on and on for that extra few percent. My brother years ago was doing shift work and would come home every night and ask how far i had got, until one day he came home and i had got to 100% finished with only "one" life left!!!!. hehe. Damn hard game but got i felt proud when i finished it :)

  • Awe man you cut the excellent music from the beggining. THAT is a pity - its a defining part of this top game too - the samples are well done.

  • SWIV was to hard for me. I had reached (just one time) the final level from Silkworm. But my best score on Swiv is 33% of the game. You're very strng guy!!!

  • Got this back 91 myself !!! memories indeed !!! great to see someone posting some good old Amigastuff !!! keep it commin' !!!

  • A BRILLIANT game and very well played. Never thought that someone could reach the end on that way!

    ... Very Good!

  • nice! some good memories..

  • Man you are Good !!!

  • Damn this was a hard Amiga game!. When i bought it back in 91 i played it over and over till i finished it with only 1 life left :) .. One of the best shootem-ups ever!.

    Thanks for putting it up.
