I think this particular theme was the best one. The new one doesn't have the catchiness that this had, nor is the old one as good as this one.

CBS does things that I don't understand. This song is not broken! The new one I heard does not have so much of a "jauntiness" that you would feel when you listen-feel that it's dampened. Maybe if TBS, TNT and truTV did not partner up, then this song would be kept.

CBS, If it has to change, revert back to 1993-2003 version instead of the crappy music you're using now. ):-(

@jerms819 The 2000-03 ESPN college football theme actually played (very similar) during the 1991 ABC Citrus Bowl intro. (the one where Georgia Tech completed the only undefeated season but did not win the national championship) It didn't originate in 2000.

What about ESPN college football 1992-1999? How do you find this out? Is there a listing anywhere?

@Knightmessenger As far as I know, Gregory Smith originally composed that ESPN College Football theme in the 90s. John Colby later remixed it around 2000 and has ever since (in 2004 and again in 2010). John's first remix sounds much closer to Smith's original version (whereas the 2004 remix branched further away from the original). It's not a surprise that they sound similar. I'd be interested in seeing that intro just to check.

Agreed. When I heard the old song, I used to ALWAYS get pumped up for he game coming up simply for the music. I used to love CBS for their great music for all their sports (NFL, NCAAF, NCAAB) but now, since they fucked up their NCAAB music, you can take that one off their list of good music.

I doubt it. CBS almost never changes sport themes midseason (though the last time they did it was with college basketball on 3/6/05). Besides, even if the current theme is a watered version of the previous theme used for a decade, there's still too much tradition in it. But Turner will need a new theme; their current NBA theme doesn't fit at all. Maybe they could use their old NBA theme, Excellence by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-it fits NCAA Basketball better than the NBA in my opinion.
