@khanbaliq I don't agree with it. I won't agree. This discussion is useless because neither of us is going to give in. I know the truth & I don't need any confirmations from across the ocean. You apparently know yours. There is no way to find a compromise because you hold grudges, take everything personally, declare that one way of killing is better that the other, humiliate, etc. This argument must come to an end. I drop this leading-nowhere discussion.
@khanbaliq Maybe but still it has nothing to do with the whole Lithuania. At least it didn't affect the country so you should search for another event to be happy for.
@khanbaliq haha, caught you again. You are confusing Liths, who were pagans at that time, with Livonians, who were christians & fought in the battle. Liths had nothing to do with that event.
Germans are people like you and me and everyone else. We are not living in 'all are equal, but some are more equal than the others' era. Do remember that. And please, do not distribute my kisses. You have yours for this occupation.
@khanbaliq At the time nobody knew what Germans would or won't do, remember that. Especially all the countries in the SU territory did not know that.
Why do you think so? Would you be happy to be a slave? Would anybody be happy in such a condition? Please tell me why are you so stubborn and purposely cavil at everything I tell you? I dont understand the aim of your grudges and hatred. Especially because they are not earned.
This project is not a museum type. It is a performance. It affects psychology, feelings. I will not go there because my nerves are not that strong and I don't understand Russian but this is a perfect place to go if you want to really understand in what a wonderful world we are living now.
@khanbaliq Not exactly. Being ~200 years occupied by Russia, Lithuanians believed that Germans would help to restore the country. But Liths have never killed Jews or anybody else. Germans themselves decided to invade Lith, they weren't asked to. Liths noticed almost at once that Germans are the same as Russians or even worse. Liths were also killed and treated like pigs. 1/3 of my family got slaughtered because we hid Jews and the rest was sent to Siberia as 'national enemies'.
@SparklingChristine You've insulted me in a way nobody've ever tried to. I am not going to stand your insults against me and my country just because you've read some smart book and caught there some sentence about Liths beliefs of that time. At least read "European History" or some memorials of Jews to learn the truth and analytic thinking
@khanbaliq No, they weren't. Friendship and union are two different things. Lithuania had to join Poland and so these two became Rzeczpospolita. Otherwise Russians would have wared it down 200 years earlier than they did. But it has never been friendship. It was more like surrender and pressure from both sides. And Russians have never lost their national treasures because Lithuania has never invaded Russia or subjugated it.
@khanbaliq Neither I had to prove anything because it's all in the history books. And by the way, Lithuanians and Polish are not friends and never were
@khanbaliq Otherwise, many Lithuanians got killed or were sent to Gulags just because they were not fighting for Nazis and they hid Jews at home and helped them escape. Your knowledge is terribly unilateral. It's like you would accuse all the USA inhabitants for killing & hunting black people during the civil war or all the USA inhabitants for vaporizing Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Not to mention that ethics & behaviour has nothing to do with the lack of education you are accusing Lithuanians of.
Still, I wonder where did you find that out? You state it like you know it, and you can't know it if you yourself are not Lithuanian. Once again, you are judging the whole nation, which is not justifiable. And where did you pick that hate? I would understand if your comments were more like 'Russians are fools' or 'Germans are nuts', though I would also disagree. Judging without understanding (not simply knowing) the factors which led to one or other result is vain and not serious at all.
khanbalig, you should not write comments like that. That is extremely rude of you and shows your lack of knowledge about the people. You may know a few lithuanians, which I doubt, but still you do not have the right to force your personal, maybe not the most pleasant experience on the whole nation. Once again, you should know that comments like that may allow lithuanians to question the education and intelligence of yours. Be more careful next time.
I was there with my class :) I was born in 1989 and it was actually end on soviet union so I didn't saw the soviet pressure, but my grandparents and parents did. And this 'theater' was very good expierance for me.

@khanbaliq about the Battle of the Ice (The Battle of Lake Peipus) in 1242. You confused Livonians with Lithuanians.

@morchius The name, given to this project, is taken from G. Orwell's book "1984". They could have called it "1932" but that wouldn't have made sense.
