Had the 3X2 setup sitting on a Highrise Offy manifold on my 69 340. What is that, 1050cfm's? Sure was fun hitting the pedal when the speedo was in the 100+ range, and getting pinned in the seat. Always chickened out when it got to 140 and still going.
nice looking and sounding car. i love the e-body mopars! no way it has 600 hp ... or your power-braking burnout would have been much different ... but it is still way cool.
Ah, i remember the day i first heard about the 440 six pack. Of course, i thought "Why the hell do so many people make such a big deal about it? it's just a v6!" good times, good times...
@airwolf619 It was purchased in 1980 for the staggering sum of $190. Yes you read that right One hindered and ninety dollars. Of course it was not restored, but it was running/driving and driven regularly. It had a 4bbl and the dana was gone (didn't even know at the time that it was a six pack car). Someone had robbed the six pack and Dana from it. Just a lucky purchase I guess.
Here in Germany, i have never seen a car like that on the streets :(
Maybe two or three Dodge Ram Pickups, but no Charger or Challenger..
I love the good old cars. The all together got a really nice sound.. and the PS is great too ;) Not like the "new" cars.. there is to many technic included..
nice ride love the 440 6 pack my bro in law had a cuda with a 6 pack on it and you would pin it and you could hear it sucking in the fuel. I just got my hands on a 72 challenger needs a resto so the dream begins....the wife wants a new challenger I test drove one and wasnt that impressed SO we build an original. I like having real horsepower to the ground call me sentimental.
yeah dude 608 mph? the wheels would fall off haha top fuels get up to 305 tops and if you're running a crate there's no way you're getting anywhere even close let alone over half that lol
@chargerrtdude There are very few people who know what a Pratt & Whitney F100 is. Fewer still know about the -229. Kudos to you, my friend, for bringing up my personal favorite jet engine. Those things are beast.
Currenty you should be able to find something decent in the 20-30 range. The market has come down quite a bit since this one sold. You can get a lot more for your money now.
i have 1 of those but mines is purple gloss with drag tires on the back and has a crate motor and i race(drag)and it hits 608 mph coming from top of a hill its a funny car.
If you read the other comments you will see it was not my car. I did not want to hurt it. There is a second vid of this car where the owner let me "Hammer" it. Also there is a vid of my Roadrunner doing a burnout - so I know how to do one. Thanks.
Sounds like a killer dream car. I also would not use an original RT for that type of project. The restoration would be a "ROTISSERIE" not a frame off. These are unibody cars.
what i mean is i would need a custom frame built for sumin like that.. and use a challenger body deff not a RT, that would be a waste.. but under the hood would be pure viper, including axels, suspension etc.. the thing is that the wheel base on the viper is shorter than the challenger, major headache workin with a 70's chasis when mounting a 600hp V-10 on it, tremendous amount of torque.. it would take about 40k " do it ur self".. just the
that was the weakest burnout I have ever seen.... I know that 440 gots more gutz then that, hell my 73 Bbody charger with a 400 2bbl could light'em up without bogging....
I was for a while. This car has be sold to a guy in Michigan. Right now it is on a rotisserie and is stripped down to bare metal for a completly stock restoration.

That is a car from an era where they would be the most powerful thing on the street, stock without having to be tuned up like todays modern low quality imports. Nice cars. Theres no replacement for displacement.
I am actually a B-Body guy. I have a 69 Charger, 69 Road Runner and a 69 Super Bee. The Challenger is the nicest one so it was the one to go up for sale.
im glad they brought that classic muscle car look to the new challenger :)

what is a six pack? 6 speed tranny?
x3m5p33d3r 1 year ago
@x3m5p33d3r six pack is a type of carb set up. It has three two barrel carbs. They resemble a "six-pack" of Coke. The trans is a three speed auto.
chargerrtdude 1 year ago
@chargerrtdude thx for answering.
x3m5p33d3r 1 year ago
@chargerrtdude
the six pack question, is it still a V8 and not V6?

@hemiisbest Correct. The engine is a 440 ci V8. The carbs are three 2bbls in a row.

What does 6 pack mean?
tomcatdcn 1 year ago
@tomcatdcn it means this engine has three- two barrel carburators that are actuated (hopefully) in synch.
rabidfishes 1 year ago
@tomcatdcn It refers to how many barrels the carburetor(s) has.
In this case, 440 6 pack is a 440 cui engine with 6 barrels from the carb.
Otherwise, a 440 has only 4 barrels.
A 440 6 pack also has 3 carburetors with 2 barrels each. (Extra info)
