I'm not an expert on this but with a theremin it can make noises by just moving your hands around. The closer your hand is the higher the pitch and the farther away the lower.

For me...Odelay and Mutatations is when he peaked. Both amazing albums but yet very different from each other. After Sea Change I couldn't connect with him as much but hey...that is just my opinion. I'm glad you still dig his recent stuff and I'm still keeping my ears open to him.

Mutations is a favorite of mine too.

And I've talked to many people who have also got out of him, there's something about Modern Guilt that I find amazing, so I haven't yet given up on him. :)
