  • Classic!!!!! LOL :)

  • thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • This song has been stuck in my head for at least 25 years and it's been driving me crazy trying to find it again! Thank you for posting it!

  • I wonder how much training it takes for a dog to herd cattle or sheep. Even though dogs are intelligent, it may still take a bit of training.

  • "all i know how to do is take a hundred cows and teach 'em some manners" lol

  • I remember this. Classic. I always loved this.

  • I think it is an Aussie with a tail. Dosent look like BC head and it works upright like an Aussie.

  • Cowdog1967, it's a border collie. There's a possibility it's an English sheepdog, but I'd say this is a border collie.

  • This got to be an aussi, it is not just a cowdog. i wonder what bloodline or breeder?????oh and it is a good watchdog for shure!!!

  • Thank you for finding this and posting it. My all time favorite Sesame Street video!

  • ah baby those were the good old days...brings back memories, just makes me happy to see animals work.

  • Ah Man. Thanks so much for uploading this. Every now and then that song gets stuck in my head, I sing it, and no one ever remembers what I'm talking about!! Classic!

  • I LOVE this song. I've sung it so much through the years, especially on hard-workin' days. Brings back so many good memories of watching Sesame Street with my son back in the mid 80s. He's 26 now! Love YouTube!

I love You Tube too! So much great stuff has been uploaded!

  • @kat12909

you mean that classic Sesame Street of hard working dog debuted on december 2nd 1975 just that Ernie and Bert skit about Bert and skating?

  • When I was raising kids this was one of our favorites on s street. Now I have grandkids and a border collie to herd them! I've been looking for this video for years! Thanks

  • I remember this from when I was raising my three boys. I've looked everywhere for this one. The boys are fathers now and my border collie gently herds the grandkids.

  • I remember this well. It was 1976 and I had just started learning guitar the year before and just HAD to learn this song. Still play it today. Thanks so much for posting this!!!

  • Can you tell me how to get... how to get to

  • lol..I remember growing up in the 70s...as a kid, I used to sing that & run back & forth....not knowing why the dog was really doing it...lol

  • I haven't seen the full version in ages..when the beginning of this clip came on I would jump up and down when I was little!!! This was/is one of my all time favorites!!! TY:)

    It's a dogs life..and I love it!

Brought a tear to my eyes!

  • Also, while I'm at it - does anyone know where this was filmed? At first glance, I'm tempted to think Great Plains or Rocky Mountain area (i.e. between North Dakota and Idaho, or as far south as maybe Colorado). Thanks in advance.

  • @d72jjpilc

I just watched the shortened version of this song and someone posted that it was filmed in Wyoming. I think that that sounds believable.

  • 'I'm a dog, I'm a working dog, I'm a hard working dog!' Another one of those lyrics that just stays with me through the years. I'll say this much - unlike the dog in this clip, I sure don't have to work very hard to remember some songs (or certain lines from songs) from 3 or more decades ago!

  • I love this country song. It's like this border collie is the cows' boss, leading them to the herd.

  • That farmer is lucky. My dog is anything but hard-working.

  • i think i remember this it sounds formiliar
