This is a decent attempt from GM but the Ford Fusion and Hyundai Sonata are much better cars. There really is no reason to get this Malibu instead of a Fusion or Sonata.

The Malibus are great cars!!!! This one is as nice as you can get without stepping up to the LTZ. Most of the Malibus are 4 cylinders, but you can get them with a V6. Chevy does not build too many with V6s. The only thing missing on this one is the sunroof.

I do like american cars but they need up their warranties like Hyundai and Kia maybe i will conisder one. They should up their powertrain 10 years or 100,000 miles and the basic warranty 5 years or 60,000 miles.

@SuedElf M, is for Manual Transmission Mode; this model has both automatic and manual transmission....The Standard P,R,N,D is the auto and the paddle shifters next to the steering wheel act as the gear shifters for the manual mode.

I've driven the best imports for years. I decided to take a 2009 Malibu across the US for 6,400 miles in late October 2008. It was flawless, one of the best long distance driving machines I have ever experienced. It's obvious that GM has done their homework. I found the Malibu to outperform anything in it's class including the comparable imports like Accord, Camry and even my favorite Mazda 626 I drove for nearly 20 years. I would also ask that Youtube clean up the useless chatter posts here.

Absolutely. I started working at a Chevy dealership right when the new generation of GM vehicles started hitting lots, and I'm completely amazed at the astronomical difference between the last gen and current gen. Every NEW model that comes through (Malibu, Equinox, Camaro, etc).. it's 5 billion times better than the one that preceded it. GM isn't screwing around anymore.. FINALLY.

You can't really tell in the vid, but this trunk has a VERY small opening- my cousin has one and we had trouble getting a medium sized box. There is no depth to it either- all taken up by the spare.  Luckily they have an Envoy too so not really an issue, but it still stunk.
