@TraximusFear Try to put the picture on the end of the lyrics. Maybe have lyrics and fill in with spaces a little bit and then have the picture go on the blank spaces part then you stretch out the picture out for how long you want.

Do you know what the particular transition or effect is called where I could put a picture, like a JPEG, over a part of the video clip, like if I wanna cover someone's face up with a different one for a funny vid or somethin?

@whoo689 There is an effect called PIP where you can insert a picture in one of the corners of the video. To insert a picture in a specific spot like covering something up would be something a better video editing software would do. The PIP effect I have made another video for it's in the same playlist as this one. I feel WMM is a basic piece of software like a tricycle. You eventually outgrow it. To get video effects Manycam is a good free software for webcams.

@reecemakespeace Put your cursor on the very beginning of the picture. It should look like a line with two arrows pointing left and right. You will be able to move the beginning that way.  And the end the same way too.

Why can't they just make it so you can set the the start point and the endpoint of any vid or picture you put into the timeline? It would be soooooooooo much easier than all that splitting crap.

I don't think it's that hard, find the place you want the picture, drag and drop the picture in there, and then drag it out as long as you want. I think setting a startpoint/endpoint would be more complicated but I know what you mean.

As long as the music is playing there will be a video. If there is no picture it's black. 20 seconds of black is a long time. I would suggest you doing a slideshow type of video where you pick transitions between pictures. You can find transition tutorials on youtube for WMM if you need instructions. I mean wipes like a star wipe, left to right wipe, diagonal wipe etc.

Hey, do you know how to insert a photo INTO an actual movie? Lets say you want to show yourself holding a piece of pie in the movie? Is there anyway you can take a cutout picture of a pie and insert it into a video of you walking and make it so that you are holding the pie?

I don't think that WMM can do an effect that complicated. The best you can do is photoshop the image into pictures of yourself walking. And then do a slideshow type of video.

Yes. It's kind of complicated but it can work. You cut the beginning of the video you want to have just audio and cut the end. Then you right click and there is an option that says something like extract audio. When you do that delete the video and the audio will still be there. Put the picture in that spot and stretch it out to the length of the audio that is remaining. Hope that helps.

Drag and drop an mp3 into the music part of the timeline. Drag it until it looks like it is in the right part. Then drag it left or right until it's in the right place of your video. Also you can shorten the music by putting your mouse on the beginning or end of the song and it will turn into a double ended arrow and hold it while you pull or push it. You can change it if you don't like it while your still editing the video.

You can either blare the music in the background or drag and drop the mp3 into the music slot in the timeline of windows movie maker. If it's slightly out of sync with your video then move it slightly. If you are going to put it on youtube just word of advice they don't like videos like that because of copyright. I see some people when they play it from their speakers and not dub in the song later they get away with it sometimes but not all the time.

I don't know anything about powerpoint I have never had to use the software. I don't think you can all you can do is use screen capturing software to record your animated presentation save it as a file windows movie maker would be able to use and then edit in windows movie maker. That is the best you can do from the research I did.

You are supposed to drag and drop it behind the video in the timeline. And then drag it over by going to the beginning of the image and pulling it over the video. Drag it over the entire video or it will only show up for the part you overlapped.

With this you can do pictures on pictures or pictures on video or video on pictures. You just drag and drop the picture you want to be in front and put it after the first one. Then stretch it out like in the video.

WMM doesn't update. If you get vista there is a different version then XP though. You can put on credits through the version you have, you go to title and credits. I would think someone has a video on youtube on how to do that.

I have another video on this subject as well if I didn't remove it you might find it. You basically cut the beginning and end of where you want the picture replace the video. Then you drag the audio part down until it goes into the music track (or voice track) of the time line. Then remove the video, stretch out the picture until it's the length of the audio you just moved. I hope I helped you!

You can't really do that, if you drag then it will just make that picture shorter and the other longer. The best bet is to put transitions between the two pictures. I like the fade transition the best. It's simple and not too gimmicky.

No problem that is why I make these. You can also have the audio of the video go over the top of a picture (if you are describing the picture in the video for example) by simply choosing what section of the video you want to be just audio by cutting the beginning and cutting the end, and then dragging the audio down to the audio track. It will duplicate it. Then delete the video, and stretch the pictures to just the length the audio is. I made a tutorial about that too. Look on my channel.

You add the video to your timeline, go to effects. Drag and drop the effect "speed up, double" if that isn't fast enough keep on dragging and dropping that one effect to the same spot in front of the video.

I'll try to experiment with that later tonight. I'll try to see if there is a way to extract the video from the audio. But the problem is you would have to be very careful because if you do that then there would be a chance there would be an audio lag in the video.

During it? Like with the audio still going? Or what I just said in this video with a break in your video and then pictures? If you want to do talking while the pictures are going only, then I would suggest downloading audacity (it's free) and recording commentary there then putting that together with the pictures in WMM. If you take apart the audio from the video, there is a chance it will lag when you start up the video again because you used a part of it for your pictures.

No problem :) The audio from the video... that would make the audio out of sync with the video and I don't think it's possible with windows movie maker. If you want to talk through the pictures instead of putting music then record yourself talking with a piece of software like Audiacity (which is free btw) and then save it as WAV and then drag and drop like I showed in the video.
