I think he sort of changes his mind later about the idea of the supernatural in general, which makes sense given the setting and his character especially, but that kinda flies in the face of his experience with Q, who is arguably supernatural or godlike in nature, if the nature of a god can even be described in terms other than how they (their powers) seemingly contradict the rest of reality.
Beautifully said, however after his abduction, torture and disgrace by Borg hatred changed him.
