  • benn was headbutting all nite said....

  • oh pixel my pixel

  • Alfred Asaro was horrible. He should have been banned from reffing any other fights after he reffed this one. Credit Nigel Benn for having heart.

  • The rabbit punches in this fight are brutal. Seems like the announcers are ignoring that. Benn hit him three times at the end of round six.

  • six within 5 rounds, thats an average of 1 per round

  • Alfred Asaro must have liked seeing fighters get hit on the back of their head. Probably thought it made them stronger. I counted six rabbit punches from Nigel Benn.

  • That French ref was shit!

  • benn only won the fight as g man started going funny round 5 onwards due to his brain swelling and the clot, fight should of been stopped, scary watching all the sighns g man wasnt all there

  • Nigel Benn left something in the ring after this fight he was never the same fighter after this fight

  • Probably the best fight I remember seeing when I was growing up. When I re- watched it years later, it was startling the amount of Rabbit punches Benn was allowed to throw. The referee was poor. Thankfully, the blinking that McClellan showed and the Rabbit punches are now picked up upon by referees. DON kING was a disgrace, the way he stood behind Benn after the fight, once he saw McClellan hurt he didn't want to have anything to do with him.

  • I wouldnt wish Mclellans fate on my worst enemy, but in the heat of it all people seem to forget that the G man stated in an interview that he desired to kill Benn and send him back to his family in a box. Harsh words in a very dangerous sport dont you think?

  • Shit Nigel is puttin' mustard AND relish On EVERY PUNCH! Poor G...

  • This ref is in left field without a glove. He is terrible.

  • G Man got carried away in the first. Thought he could bomb him out rather that be precise and pateint with hard shots.

  • fuck this refree

  • benn landed a lot of rabbit punches in this fight.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday. Great fight with a terrible ending. Gerald you are a true pugilist

  • Fighting southpaw actually kept Benn off a while and when he went back to orthodox he got nailed.

  • its quite simple, gm had never been in a war before, most of his previous fights had ended quickly, the further the fight went into the later rounds he started to weaken.his brain damage which is tragic was just very unlucky, any good punch can cause a bleed or damage to the brain

  • i think that macclellan was looking for air by breathing through his mouth and that may be a sign of fatigue, this early on the fifth round. no wonder he ended up with brain damage

  • great fite ....but scary

  • Translation: "look at me! I'm so extreme and witty! Really, I am!"

  • GREAT FIGHT

  • Oh and learn how to spell.

  • Been is a dirty fighter. Holding and hitting plus multiple shots to the back of the head.

  • @strafer take a look back at the first round when benn was sitting on the bottom rope with mcllellan hitting him full blooded at least twice on the back of the head whilst knocking him out of the ring

  • good point

  • ALL fighters are dirty. If they aren't, they don't win.

    No exceptions.

  • kessler dont fight dirty...and he did win quite a few prior to calsaghe and ward

  • You should not be permitted to speak.

  • 2 BIG PUNCHERS

  • Read a book called "It's war, baby" that goes into detail about the fight - best analysis of how and why McClelland was hurt

  • the books called "war baby"

  • oh yeah and his name is gerald mcClellan.

  • To make matters worse GM was breathing very hard from round 4 on. He was not in good condition and the mouthpiece may have been problematic as well. This is significant because injuries were occurring with every hard punch. Its one thing to take hard punches, but to take hits like he did AND in a state of extreme oxygen deprivation is a design for disaster.

  • There were many punches that did the damage...

  • They shoulda stopped the fight after round 6. That punch which knocked out the mouthpiece did all the damage.

  • Pure heart from Benn.

  • end of that round you could tell he was fucked.

  • Well they were both in their peak at that time, but yes, G should have stayed where he was! I must admit, the first round from G was nearly as vicious as Hagler v Hearns, but still quite a dirty fight. After round 1 Benn roughed him up all the way through. A lot of people said G deserved what he got, but I think that is unfair.
