Hey everyone. I got an HD PVR for Christmas and I'm so stoked, plan to have a commentary out today. Only problem is that I have few subscribers (you guys know how hard it is to get subs, so I wont go in depth about that). One really great Christmas present would be a couple of subs on my account (thumbs this up so others can see). I made a skype and a twitter to keep in touch with my subs and fans. Ive already posted a couple of videos on my channel. Please help me out and I wont disappoint you.

Those are amazing graphics its funny to hear pc,360 gamers say that a ps3 GPU is shit but then games like uncharted,killzone,GOW3 and more exclusives are the best looking games on the market why because of the CELL sure its a bitch to program but now its getting better 4 years ago ps3 graphics weren't very special then as sony figures out how to harness the CELL's power they release these games and it gives people the WOW feeling

@slayer3slipknot Cell is a $38 PowerPC processor from 2005. It's nothing compared to what's available today.

Also, you may think those PS3 exclusives are the best looking games on the artistic aspect, which is all about personal opinion. But on the technical aspect, they are nothing compared to the PC versions of Far Cry 2, Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033, for example. Let alone compared to exclusives like Crysis and S.T.A.L.K.E.R..

@NewLynxChannel Well, add about half a foot to that for the frame and you have a good 4 and a half foot tall television. I doubt you'll be sitting it on the floor, so add another 3-4 feet for the TV stand. You're looking at about 8 and a half feet. Granted it'll fit, but it'll probably take up one whole side of your living room. LOL, anyway, we're on the same wavelength here. While a 100 inch tv would be nice, my living room wouldn't let me sit far enough away from the TV anyway lol.

At some point the average height of the ceiling has to come into play, and a 100 inch TV would require much more than the average 10 foot ceiling, not to mention the enormous amount of space it would take up. TV's are going to be limited more by room space than anything else I think.

@NewLynxChannel Obviously if you had a 100 inch TV a higher resolution would be required to see the same quality of picture. I'm talking about standard size TVs here though, not mini-movie theatres. While a 4320p image could definitely help on a digital movie screen, they'll never be practical in a home environment. Though even at 100 inches you wouldn't need 4320p. Movie theatre screen? Sure, but that's much larger than 100 inches.

The CELL processor that is in the PS3 (and 4.0Ghz versions with more memory in IBM QS20 blade servers) are rated somewhere around the 200 - 250gigaflops mark at full pelt depending upon spec. The new intel i7 on the other hand tips in just over the 50gigaflops mark with all cores maxed out... copy pastted.. and ur source ur ass?...

There's no way they would port a game to PS3 and just use the PPE and barely use the SPEs. I'm sure they programmed it to have them working. Considering both Uncharted games were exclusive to PS3 though, they were able to use the system better than anyone. MW2 looked pretty good on PS3. It's not like the insides of the PS3 are a massive secret that the programmers don't know about.

In any case the eye can barely tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. It's quickly getting to the point where it's not a matter of hardware capability but rather human perception. With static images the human can definitely notice the difference between 720p and 1080p, but with objects in motion, as virtually all games will be, the differences are much less noticeable to the human eye. In fact blur is added to games to make them more realistic and less confusing to the mind.

@WhyteLis21 4320p is WAY beyond what the human eye can see. Do you know how small a pixel is? At 720p a pixel is about the size of a grain of sand. At 4320p... you'd need a microscope to make out each individual pixel. It wouldn't make a difference. 1080p makes a very, very small difference in appearance, anything beyond that will probably be completely unnoticeable to the human eye. 3D has nothing to do with it. 3D or 2D, the pixel size is the same.

@WhyteLis21 It would require an incredibly large screen for 4320p to be worth the investment. Larger than any ordinary living room could conceivably hold. I understand what you're saying, and yes screen size does affect how the resolution will affect picture quality. Still, at home TV sizes you won't need to go anywhere near 4320p. A bit higher resolution could be useful, but contrast ratio actually makes a much larger different than resolution the vast majority of the time with home TVs.

You realize the only reason they upscale the resolution is to make the textures look more clear right? The difference wouldn't really be noticeable one way or another in UN2, not to mention that a completely new set of uncompressed textures would have to be included on the BD making it a 50 GB disc instead of a 25 GB disc and slowing down the disc read times considerably. They did what they did for a reason. =P Stop assuming you know better than the developers.

Keep hoping for a PS4, it's not coming out anytime soon. The PS3's popularity has just begun to take off (due in no small part to quality titles like Uncharted 2). Sony planned for the console to have a 10 years lifespan. The way things are today, this is what might very well happen. It's a good thing, IMO.

uncharted 3 won't be a ps4 title, the guy who voiced nathan drake has basically hinted that there might be uncharted 3 coming out not so far in the future. as they learn more and more about the system's hardware they can produce games faster and at a higher quality. the ps3 still has heaps of untapped potential, 3d gaming and the sony move controllers have been confirmed. the ps3 is a really high end machine that won't need replacing for a while.

Exactly; that was the whole point of the cell processing architecture, they wanted something that would last; the idea of developers making games for a future PS4 is ridiculous as it stands right now.

Uncharted 2 doesn't even push the system to its max, so I have no idea why anyone would feel that the developers would have cause to tailor their next instalment to a system that hasn't even been conceptualised.

These guys are awesome:), what they do with the PS3 and the Cell is just amazing. People have been talking bad things about the Cell since launch of the PS3, but it is really showing it's potential in the exclusives.

A normal game on a PC or X360 usually run 2 Core's on the CPU, while Uncharted 2 are constantly pushing 5 of the SPE's in the Cell processor. I don't think there are many game developers that are as good at multithreading as these guys.

If you ask me it would look almost identical, I've watched 720p video and 1080p video and I could barely notice a difference.

Tons of people don't even have HDTVs, and on a 37 inch, 40 inch, or even a 46 inch TV there's barely a difference, depending on your distance from it.

I think the way the game is rendered works better at 720p, maybe it's 720p since 1080p would have a bad framerate.

@NewLynxS sony wanted to have 2 cell processors in the ps3 but then realized that it wouldn't work so they quickly signed a deal with nvidia to make the rsx to push out the ps3 as fast as possible because microsoft was dominating the gaming industry with the xbox 360

@NewLynxS and you got to realize too that the rsx is equivalent to a 7900gt, sony screwed up with the ps3, dont get me wrong it's a fucking awesome console but they should have put in a more powerful gpu, the cell is a bitch to program for thats why most of the 360 ports are shit on the ps3 eg. two worlds 2, bayonetta (madden 08 runs at 30 fps for gods sake) only big name companies like activision, ea (excluding madden 08), santa monica know how to program or have the money to buy programmers.

@greece2008 Why are you so worked up about that sports game running at 30 FPS? Most PS3 games run at 30 FPS, including exclusives like Uncharted, Killzone and LittleBigPlanet.

Also, neither EA or Activision use Cell's SPEs on their games, only the studios owned by (ie. Santa Monica) or related to (ie. Naughty Dog) Sony do that.

@NewLynxS madden 08 on the 360 runs at 60 fps, theres a big difference between 30 and 60fps. littlebigplanet the first one should be running at 60fps i dont know why they did that and of course uncharted and killzone are going to be 30 fps they look amazing

@NewLynxS Quite a few multiplatform devs now use the SPES on the ps3. DICE with Battlefield 3 for it's anti-aliasing and lighting techniques for example.

@AndresPetMonkey The only two multiplatform games I know that make reasonable use of the SPEs are Battlefield 3 and Split Second. Still, it's nowhere near the usage from franchises like Uncharted, Killzone or Gran Turismo. That's what I meant, multiplatform developers may occasionally make small use of them, but none will invest on it like PS3-exclusive developers do.

Splinter Cell is not an exclusive for Xbox 360, sorry (and will have btter graphics on PC than Xbox 360).

And yeah, a game maded for PS3, the Xbox 360 can't handle the performance.

My question is does this Uncharted have SCREEN TEAR like the first one had BAD? If this has the tiny little bit of that stupid screen tear I HATE in games I'm not buying it. Like I said the first one pissed me off paying 60 bucks for a screen tear game.

I do not have UC2 YET, but I played the demo and I never recall seeing any ugly screen tearing like UC1, but it makes my PS3 fan spin very loud o.O

This game is amazing. Soo many xbots ask about it coming to the xbox....lol i find it hilarious...like that's even possible. So many of them deny the fact that the ps3 is the most powerful console. and the console with the most potential.
