  • Come on noodle drips, Don't be so judgmental. To say this EP is influential is putting it lightly. This EP changed the next couple years of electrostep dramatically. Sonny Moore is a helluva producer. I know we're all butthurt because this was labeled as dubstep and it isn't (i know i am) but putting all usual retarded culture shit behind us, it's really not that bad. It's not something i'd listen to daily, but i've put it on my phone's mobile party playlist.

  • @CalChuchesta

Looks like you have shit taste then. And it is dubstep.

    Stay mad.

  • My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - 6

Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites - 7

    NO.

  • stop trying to be funny or at least get it done faster

  • @WillieVogt

You can't hold your attention for five minutes?

  • 4:03 = description of electro :D

  • When I hear skrillex I think of transformers lmfao now get bunch hate from skrillex fans lol

  • Skrillex is just horrible...

  • 2:18 - 2:20 still better than Skrillex

  • who the fuck are you?

  • Comment removed

  • He has 666 videos :O

  • I like Skrillex. I hate the people who think that every producer that makes "wubstep" is amazing, but skrillex isn't too bad. He's overrated, but I can enjoy his music.

  • what was the song at the end of the vid

  • Skrillex is not "Dubstep", "Breakcore", or "Prog. House". All of his "tracks" can be made in about ten minutes in simple plug-ins. Quality Dubstep and Breakcore producers are Venetian Snares, Bong-Ra, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Digital Mystikz, Loefah, Kode9, Kromestar, and so on.

  • @grindcorepants also Burial

  • @0killyouridols Of course. Also, Skream.

  • @grindcorepants I agree that his music can be repetitive and transparent at certain points, and that not all of it is "dubstep" as almost everyone would think, but I believe you undermine the depth of his production. Almost everything he produces is layered very densely with a lot of effort put into it.

  • @cyphr6 Err, not really. It's very repetitive, and follows a pattern of Intro, "drop", same style as into, back to drop, and that same pattern for pretty much the whole song. It seriously would only take about a 30 minute average to make a song like that in a VST program.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    WOB WOB WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORB

    WOB WOOOOOOOOOOOOORB WOBOBOB

  • I liked it a lot. First song i heard was I want to kill everybody or something like that. I love the intensity of skrillex and the way how he will change instruments playing the melody so quickly. It's like he has massive ADD and just wants to change the overall sound so much.

  • this isnt music its an instrumental people that listen to this are addicted to ectasy and are fucking tards.

  • @MrWAD3SON you're so cute!

  • scrillex is terrible

  • I can understand if you don't hate the album... but a 7? Really?

    You kidding me?

  • You've got a huge fucking yard

  • This guy makes the best reviews for music. He reviews anything and has a good opinion.

  • Dubstep = Horrible

  • Cal Chutesta everybody lol

  • pretty terrible album; it's spazzy, annoying, and just plain bad. A insult to techno.

  • @MrGerbilGoof i know right, the ''dubstep'' tracks on this are just horrible ear rapes. some of the electro tracks are nice though

  • dubstep is gay

  • it's so amusing how american music scene is so far back in some fields. always making fun of "gay europeans" and their conception of art and music, good dubstep/uk dub/garage/ambient has been there in europe for 20 years. and then one day, a talentless noisy emo dude comes up with music that can only be seen as an insult to that scene, and american kids love it. this skrillex kid is just up there with guetta and deadmau5 on the "please stop making music" list. says enough.

  • When I first heard it, I would rate it 2/10

then it grew on me, it turned into an 8/10

but it has no long term appeal, now I think it's only a 3/10

  • The King of Limbs = 6/10

Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites = 7/10

    What the fuck, anthony?

  • @MetalPatrick93 its his opinion

  • @MetalPatrick93

    tkol was a big disappointment

only fanbois like this album, dealwithit.jpeg

  • @MetalPatrick93 I'm a huge Radiohead fan, and if I'm being entirely honest, TKOL was a huge disappointment. I only like a 2 or 3 songs off of it. That being said, I'd listen to it over any dubstep album. Shit, I'd even listen to Katy Perry before listening to dubstep, and she sucks... But that's just my opinion. Perhaps Skrillex is good for being dubstep, but I'll still always think I could shit out a better sound than that.

  • @MetalPatrick93 Judging the artists by the standards they set for themselves I suppose. Compared to when he sang in From First To Last the stuff Sonny does in Skrillex is a 7, and compared to pre In Rainbows Radiohead material....I think 6 is being kind.

  • Cal looks like he has a Lando Calrissian mustache.

  • skrillex is a poser scrEMO kid who sucked back in the day and still sucks today...but hey. We need bad artists so we can pinpoint all the douchebag listeners and make fun of their bad taste in music :]

  • @LaStylo15 Umm, not really.

  • Did he just say progressive house? Man... fuck this guy seriously. I'm really not one to hate, but I can't stand this dudes self-righteousness. But hey, I clicked on the video, so I guess my point isn't valid.

  • @DJIGGZ92

Wait? He's self-righteous because he used a more technical genre term? I think you need to re-examine your definition of self-righteous.

  • @BlindAngelXero It has nothing to do with him use what you "technical genre terms", it has to do with him just throwing shit around like it's absolutely factual because he thinks so. It's not even just about this video. But whilst we're on it, Skrillex has not been called a progressive house artist because he doesn't make progressive house music. All I Ask Of You on this EP is probably the only and closest thing to prog house, and he's certainly not a drum n bass artist.

  • @larry89 don't want to sound like a dick or a troll but i thought that dubstep really didn't even make ne appearance till 2001

  • Where's the drop in this vid??

  • he's terrible. end of.

  • Sonny didn't make it as a screamo artist, so he tried his hand at doing something else annoying with music. So... that's my opinion. Just thought I would throw that out there. Take it or leave it. The red downvote thumb is over there to the right of this little box if you don't agree. Have a nice day.

  • AND SALEM GOT A 2?!?!?

  • Dubstep gives me a fucking headache.

  • review Skrillex - Bangarang:)

  • @TheGreatALi101 It's not worth his time. Bangarang is seriously one of the worst things I've ever heard

  • I actually liked skrillex the first time I ever heard him but then I realized he has only written one sing.

  • Skrillex: Synonymous With: SHIT - N. Skrillex's Music And Other Dubstep.

  • Hahahahaha all the butthurt pitchforkers that are butthurt cuz ant didn't like camp or (insert overhyped hipster bullshit).

  • @PGROSYE02 P4K didn't like Camp either... haha

  • @nikbatesNLB yeah true, but a lot of their fanbase would be inclined to disagree as well.

  • i'm afraid i don't understand why this got 7 and kanye's album MBDTF got 5.

  • I found with the Zedd remix of SMANP that without the relentlessness of the sounds the whole feel kind of slips away. the track seems a bit undecided on what it wants to be.

  • Sonny Moore is nothing more than a bandwaggoner. The More You Know.

  • @jridenoure just so happens to be a more talented and less stuck-up "bandwagoner" than the majority of "true" dubstep artists (who somehow are not bandwagoners by virtue of their not diverting stylistically from the norm set ten years ago?)

  • @Brontosaurie He's a bandwaggoner because seven years ago when 'screamo' was a thing (I guess it still is, though) he was frontman for the band From First to Last. Now, when dub step (electronic music as a whole, really) is becoming more popular, Sonny Moore dons a new name (and horn rimmed glasses) and makes electronic music, and the public eats it up.

  • @jridenoure Lol, what? Do you even know why he left the band? Why he wanted to make his own music? Just cause he's "popular dubstep artist" is no reason to hate him. He just loves making music and ALOT of people like his music that's all.

  • @ChaosSaberX No, I don't know why he left the band.

I don't hate him. I actually like his music, in the same way I like AC/DC: situationally. Like AC/DC is only good in an action movie trailer or singing karaoke, Skrillex is good in a video game montage or at a party.

  • this is the most derivative generic dubshit ive ever heard, 7/10? for shame anthony i thought you knew better.

  • Steve O?

  • Review memoryhouse!!!

  • 0:35 how did you make that effect ?

  • And now he is nominated for 5 grammys....

  • @DKBJ69 The Grammy's, that totally "respected" organization that nominates such "talented" folks as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Britney Spears, N'Sync, The Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber etc... Oh, yeah!!! Totally respected and taken seriously.

  • Skrillex had an average first release but it was riddled with bad tracks. He didn't even try to expand for his second release and the same thing happened, except now the good tracks were remixes. Noisia was the best thing on it.

  • shittiest "dubstep" ever.

  • can you review Wolfgang gartner???

  • POOR CAL!

  • I LOVE THIS EP

  • l00k guyz i can hit randum buttons on my mac i make music xDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXD

  • you gave this a 7 and bon iver a 6? I am no longer watching your reviews

  • Rock n Roll, Kill Everybody , Scatta <3

  • fucking weird ass guy

  • @Valkodu Well i guess that applies strictly for all the newbs into "dubstep". iv listen to dubsttep since 2009, and probaly will until im much older. dubstep isnt new, it branched out from other genres of music just like dubstep is branhcing out into brostep and all these other things.

  • Dubstep is the disco of our generation

  • @94Cioppa Kiss is gonna' make a dubstep album?

  • @darthsasuke554 lol. Well Korn made a dubstep album Kinda like when KISS made "i was made for fucking you" or whatever that dog shit song is.

  • I don't get how dub and 2 step music-two precursors to Reggae

Are combined to describe this music.

I guess kids need to call it something...my word is "Terrible"

or "Sounds like your cd is scratched/skipping"

  • @deathbypowerglove Go to a dubstep rave, youll change your mind.

  • @WyrmPrince I think you mean go to a brostep set.

  • @deathbypowerglove Because skrillex isn't dubstep you idiot. It's just mainstream retroactive branding. It's like the term "metal" -- that used to refer to stoner rock, cabbage rock, aka krautrock infused hard rock. Check out the "dubsteptunez" channel on youtube for real dubstep. Although some of it is like skrillex and is brostep.

  • @deathbypowerglove Neither of those are precursors to reggae. Dub came from reggae, not the other way around. And two-step UK garage was never directly related to dub reggae or jungle, more to breakbeat and house. In the UK, jungle helped to popularize the dub music of the Jamaican soundsystem culture in electronic music. Two-step garage became darker into the 2000's, which, when combined with jungly dub, is pretty much early dubstep. "Brostep" is essentially jump-up dubstep.

  • This guy goes out his way to hate everything pitchfork likes lol

  • Skrillex isn't even dubstep. The only song that's a bit dubstep in this EP is "Fucking Die" (which btw is an amazing song)

  • Dubstep sounds the same all the the time.. Just annoying noise :D

  • Comment removed

  • i respect skrillex a lot..... what he does...haters dont even know how hard it is to pull his kind of production and sequenzing......he came into the game way late as far as dubstep goes.... ppl are such haters....he is not my fav in the elektro/step/grime/bass scene either but he doesnt make it sound boring like most so called im too underground dubstep artist ...getting sick off ppl either idolizing him like he created dub or hating him like he murdered it..... he is a very creative/unique.

  • @schallhouse exactly, I don't even really consider think of his music as dubstep bc it's a pretty unique sound. Personally I wish he did more grimy tracks instead of going for mass appeal, bc he's clearly very talented but it only shows on a few songs imo. first of the year is the only track of his in heavy rotation for me

  • @schallhouse

well said. he shouldn't even be labeled a dubstep artist.. he mixes electro/dub/and other genre's together to make whatever music he makes.. he comes from a rock/metalcore background as well so it just adds more into the mix (an element which i hear in his songs all the time).. people will love him or hate him and there's no reason why they shouldn't do so, he brought something innovative that threw a lot of people off.

  • @schallhouse Hell ya. Well said.

  • can u do Joker - the vision.... a review on the album .... and then a review on the instrumental only album he released shortly after for free .. thanks ... curious about what u think the whole thing was...

  • wubwubwubwubwubwubwubwubwubwubwub YES! OH MY GOSH!....stfu.

  • god damn it, stop being fgts kosher and valkodu.

  • Dubstep is taking over like it or not. So quit bitching, Plus Skrillex is on of the Top known Djs.

  • @KosherBud Dubstep is a fad, whether you like it or not.

  • @Valkodu ur a fag, whether you like it or not.

  • @KosherBud Good comeback!

  • @mooingmoose Thanks bro your to kind. now go eat shit :)

  • @Valkodu have you listened to Burial?

  • @Valkodu probably the most true thing I've read all day.

  • @Valkodu This true, correct, and all synonyms thereof.

  • @Valkodu I'm sure someone said that about rock and roll, or Rap.

  • @Valkodu dubstep is a fucking genre of music dumb cunt

  • @xXbrzXx Yeah, and spandex shorts are an article of clothing. And guess what? They were a fucking fad. Learn what the word "fad" means before calling people a dumb cunt, dumb cunt.

  • @Valkodu not agreeing that either of those things are fads but, if they are I would still say that when you see a smokin hot chick in some spandex your lovin those spandex and when you hear a dope song wearing dubstep clothes those clothes are the shit eh?

  • @Valkodu then what ever music you listen to is a fad aswell. so why even post that if its a fact to all music?

  • @xXbrzXx A fad is something that gets a quick, short spur of popularity and is then generally forgotten and/or replaced by the next "in" thing. Dubstep at the moment is that "in" thing, and in a few months will be overtaken by some other genre of music. Explain to me, then, how every genre of music is a fad all at once?

  • @Valkodu

a fad for most americans.. dubstep has been around for 20 years in europe

  • @larry89 maybe drum and bass/jungle has been around for 20 years, but not dubshit.

  • @IMADRWILY

well dubstep is a derivative or dnb/jungle.. maybe i exaggerated, maybe it was around 12-15 years

  • @larry89 this is my pet peeve. Dubstep cam from a fusion between two-step garage music and dub reggae by use of sampling the dub over two-step beats that would sometimes be produced to be a half time beat. dubstep has evolved and expanded an awful lot since then with influences from DnB and many genres of all types as people flood in.

  • @larry89 haha dubstep definitely hasn't been around for 20 years, more like 10-13 years. I fucking hate skrillex so much, people really need to learn that this sound isn't "dubstep."

    LISTEN TO REAL DUBSTEP:

    Silkie

    Lurka

    Sleeper

    Distance

    Biome

    Quest

    Mala

  • @Cornbreadddd It has been around for around 20 years. Underground dubstep has been around since the early 90's. I'm not going to say much more because I don't know much else about the early scene.

  • @Cornbreadddd and

    Coki

    Benga

    Leofah

    Skream

    Burial

    Kryptic Minds

    Breakage

  • @larry89 Dubstep was only 'invented' in the early 2000s actually, it evolved from garage which blew up just as dubstep was getting started and got taken over by pop producers which eventually led to the downfall of garage. Which is exactly (imho) what is happening to dubstep now...

  • @JayStereotone

I thought dubstep was a spinoff of reggae, due to reggae created the Dub beat.

  • @larry89 20 years? - WRONG.

  • @SEGABODEGA

    ok i exaggerated, 13 years

  • @larry89 Replace "most" with "many" next time. Generalizations gut logic.

  • @larry89 actually only about 13

and the new style of dubstep that most people know has only been around for about 5

  • Comment removed

  • @Valkodu Yeah really dubstep is a total fad. It's only been around for 15 or so years.

  • @TheSchimmi How long something has existed doesn't make it any more or less of a fad; it's short and sudden burst in popularity makes it a fad.

  • @Valkodu Dude ur fuckin cool picking out my comment and trying to talk down to me. But Your most likely a 12 year old kid that listens to justin bieber. If you dont want problems dont start with shit that you cant finish.

  • @KosherBud Calling me a 12-year-old would be more of an insult to you than me, really. The "12-year-old" who's IQ is evidently twice as large as yours. Your use of insults in general shows that you have no argument. Dubstep is a fad. Deal with it. Good day, "sir".

  • @Valkodu Its ok do get apprehensive, But you should watch who your talking to lol. Because you can get hurt.

  • @KosherBud not only is dubstep a fad like valkodu said, but skrillex isn't dubstep

  • @lalo24681 LOL dude the last thing u should do is have a argument about dubstep the only dj that u probably know is skrillex and nero.

  • @KosherBud LOL dude the last thing you just make accusation of which you know nothing of

  • @lalo24681 well played sir, you know how to use the internet

  • @KosherBud skream, Datsik, Bassnectar, Mt Eden, Cyberoptix, Big Gigantic, Flux pavillion, Doctor P, Gemini, Butch Clancy, Feed Me, Emalkay, Kryptic Minds, Bar 9, Shorterz, Klaypex etc...

  • skrillex fucking blows ass

  • @UKNOWIT88 My tastes are cement. Why are you even trying to argue. I AM right!

  • alot of people want Tylias :) its pronounced (till-eye-us) and he makes EDM and Rock music, dudes legit as hell :)

  • i love skrillex, but please, review one of tylias's tracks!!!! that dude is awsome at electro dubstep and rock music!

  • You Should review one a Tylias track!!!!! :DD

  • Review Tylias!

  • Fuck skrillex

  • Please review good edm. If you review a Burial track I'll let you tell people we had sex this one time.

  • I don't like Skrillex at all.

  • I DO NOT like dubstep at all. I'm sure this is essential information for all of you....

  • @Zegeebwah

If you think skrillex is the only type of dubstep, you are very unaware.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zegeebwah dubstep =/= brostep

  • another good album (even though hes not AS good as skrillex..) Tylias- My Name is Tylias LP, best song off of it? :D Digital Heart!! ^.^

  • I love skrillex to death but he has a lot of good points.

  • @MrBenGarcia no

  • This EP has some good vibes, and I agree with the Zedd remix, it was almost impossible the recognize the song without the vocal parts. :D

  • Hahahaha lolz me too

  • holy shit you can enjoy this in any way anthony i feel shame now

  • skrillexxx!

  • better than Tarot Sport!

  • eh... seems legit.

  • skrillex!

  • I can't believe you gave this a 7 and Opeth a 5.....Talk about inconsistencies...

  • @dallas2denton exactly!
