@NegativeSquad lumped in how? The same studio Studio Nue did both Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Calvary Sotheren Cross and Super Dimensional Centery Orguss. If you mean 'lumped in' as in Robotech, all Carl Maick did was take three shows ' Macross, SC and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA re-edit them into rototech so together they would meet the requirements for syndication rights. When it got ugly was when they wanted matchbox to start making 'robotech' toys.

People might hate me for what I'm going to say, but I just can't stand Alto!!! Both Ranka and Sheryl are way too much for him. He is as expressive as a plant... He should definitely learn more from Ozma and Michael, I love those two!

@obladi05 I see what your saying but the only reason why he's like that is because he knows both Ranka and Sheryl love him, but he cant choose which one to love back and then him fighting just kind of makes it all the more stressful. I personally think that he has more of a connection with Sheryl and should pick her because there is more of a bond between them and i think he pays more attention to her than with Ranka.

actually he doesn't. He folds out with Vajra to whatever far reaches of Galaxy they went to. It's unclear if he'll ever be able to return, but at least Ranka in final scene is hopeful he'll be able to return for Sheryl. That's actually why she sings there, to act as a fold "beacon" for Alto to find one day his way back home

I'm TERRIBLY SORRY, I should've put "SPOILER" there in the front but because previous comments were already in full spoilers mode I figured people already knew to avoid the tangent... :( I actually flew to Japan two weeks ago. Saw it 4 times there in total, definetly worth the price. It really needs to be seen on big screen.

The film is phenomenal if a fair bit darker than tv series. Can't wait 'till it comes out on BD/DVD!

@Gatz22 well, actually Itsuwari no Utahime is not *just* compilation movie. There are many little things in plot & characters that were changed. Basically Utahime+Sayonara is MF's equivalent of DYRL aka independent film retelling. Utahime was first part and Sayonara no Tsubasa is the second part and direct continuation of Utahime, taking place 3 months after first film. But it's 100% new. All animation, scenes, story etc. is new. It's radically different from series in many ways and a new beast
