yes in all their comments, conventions--they make it clear that the whole "lesbian" thing was purely for ratings and in my opinion used the lesbian community--but I still just like the show

They've said that they didn't want to make a gimmick of the lesbian thing, they took it seriously because they knew how much it meant to the fans. They didn't ever solidify whether they were or not because they didn't want it to be taken as a way to get ratings. I dunno what you saw or read to get that idea, but look harder.
