Also just because an IROC gets an engine swap with something other than a TPI doesnt make it not an IROC anymore. and lastly, an IROC and IROC Z28 is the same, IROC is a package to the Z28 model, therefore every IROC is a Z28 first. visit thirdgen.org you might educate yourself a bit.

@mite53 Umm, If I am not mistaken, the 86 TPI had an LG4 cam which dropped the hp by 25 as compared to the 85 (84½). In 87, they went to the newer "Centerbolt" . The TBI also had a roller camshaft which the TPI's did not have, Both were still based on the L98. The only real "Rare" 86 IROCs would be the 1LE RPO which only 50 were made. The one here is most defintally not one because it has Air and T-Tops ... The one here is a nice car. Just replying to "Educate" you a little more.

The other guy said there is a difference between 2 same iroc's with one having a tpi and the other a tbi, and i'm saying the only difference is the engine itself, you just stated the differences between a tpi and tbi....And yes in 86the 305 TPI did have the Peanut cam which dropped hp in trade for 10tq.

My 9th and Current an 85 IROCZ which sits tarped in the garage. Tracing RPOs and COPOs is a skill one must have when collecting any car, especially F-Body GMs. So many clones, so many kids who still have no idea what a COPO 9560 or 9561 is, or will debate the existance of a 302 Chevy (DZ). Maybe I am defensive :-)
